Ironically I mained Zard in smash 4 so he’s naturally my best, and squirtle was pretty easy to learn. Ivysaur on the other hand has been difficult for me to learn. Love you made a video on this!
@@drewdulph Agreed and when you think about it, they could have given them a extra down special. They are able to make these other characters have different special inputs so why not PT? Charizard with rock smash, Ivy with Solar Beam and Sqiurtle with whatever would have been amazing.
I mean almost every tilt is unsafe on shield barring maybe rob dtilt, their safety is usually in the fact they are well spaced or difficult to react to
12:10 Surprised he didn't mention the disadvantage of using this tech. If Ivy or any other tether character for that matter successfully tethers the ledge then cancels it to grab it again, sure they may have invincibility grabbing the ledge, but the first tether counts as grabbing it once, so as a result all of their ledge options lose a portion of invincibility. I love when Ivys or Byleths who think they're schmoving on me use this cause then I just charge a smash attack and punish any option they pick cause they didn't count on their ledge option not having full I frames like normal.
Thanks for this great video Izaw. Been watching you for years. This is how you buff a character from how god awful it was in Brawl to being one of the best characters before it's nerfs. Even after the nerfs it's a still a amazing character. I love Pokémon trainer
These PT guides are great! I really enjoy playing this character but there have always been things that I didn't fully understand/never thought to do, I'm definitely going to implement things from these guides into my play
Bullet seed is underrated. It’s tied for ivys fastest oos option, plus it does serious damage and it scoops from a mile away. It great to cover spot dodges. Not to mention it protects well against stall and fall Ariel’s like soras down air, or horizontal recoveries like ikes side b
Hi, I would like to add another use to Ivysaur's down smash that wasn't mentioned at around 9:47 . Ivy down smash is also good better for catching people offstage than f smash, because Ivy's f smash stops travelling very close to the ledge, no matter the spacing. Ivy down smash keeps its range regardless and is very strong. Great video!
B Reversed Bullet Seed is what I use to end combos normally, but as a ledge option? I love that idea, especially with the whole Vine Whip from ledge or short hop nair onto stage...
4:26 Definitely do not do this lol. Full hop nair into dair, unless you're doing something with a platform, is just bad (no good follow-ups) and really unsafe. Generally, I think a better gameplan with Ivy is to play reactionary when calling out jumps as he mentioned earlier (rather than going for full hop reads; you are put into a juggle situation if the read fails. That is where Ivysaur REALLY does not want to be lol. That is not to say that you should never go for reads, but I wouldn't make it the predominant strategy).
What is meant by “smashes razor leaf” (to get the faster moving razor leaf)? How do you do that? I still need to get my use of vine whip over the stage right that also includes not only attacking, but to time/angle for my recovery.
Basically you input the special move like you would a normal smash move (now, I hadn't played in quite a while, but if I remember correctly, it was about flicking the stick in the right direction and pressing the attack input at the same time?)
So when you hit the stick to the side as you hit your B button, it'll input a smash attack. If you're already holding to the side before you hit B, it'll input the tilt razor leaf. Think ->+B is smash, and -> -- B is tilt, if that makes sense.
Late reply Ik lol but you’re probably pressing the nair too late. Obv getting the full hop is important but if you nair to late you won’t have time for a follow up
Depends on how you like to play and how new you are.if you like zoning go with samus or one of the links if you like spacing go with lucina if you like bait and punish go with inkling game and watch or Wario and if you like Rushdown go with pika or fox if you like heavys go with bowser or DK

Miss smash 4 Zard :( Miss the B - Reverse rock smash mix ups and landings

@@drewdulph I loved the sliding rock smash tech :(
Ivy came naturally, my issue is squirtle. Zard is pretty easy, Bair is broken.
Same. Ivy is my weak point.
Been playing PT since the games launch and there is just so much information I was not aware of!
Best character guides on YT hands down
Easily.
Didn't know that Ivysaur down tilt was -21 on shield. Never crossed my mind that it could be that unsafe
I mean almost every tilt is unsafe on shield barring maybe rob dtilt, their safety is usually in the fact they are well spaced or difficult to react to
@@michaelkarim57 Roy would like a word. His down tilt is -3
Yeah understandable, it’s a move that looks like it can be safe if spaced
It goes to show how nice having really really fast moves is cause they may be too fast to react to even if it’s not safe on paper
I thought landing nair was safe until I realized I could even get 1 jab before my opponent punished me for its insane lag
12:10 Surprised he didn't mention the disadvantage of using this tech.

I've know about that forever and yet I never knew that. This freaking game...
Eh ima be honest it still feels badass as heck to use tether cancels, but yeah I see your point.
Thank you for all the work you put into these guides, the quality of them is unmatched!

It’s frame 15 Oos as opposed to bair and nair which are frame 10 OoS
@@chiliandcornbread09 Neutral b is frame 7 and all characters have a 3 frame jump squat so in total it takes 10 frames to jump OoS and use bullet seed
Thanks for these videos, I'm planning to pick up Pokèmon Trainer as a secondary and this helps
Why as a secondary? For who?

Art of ivysaur: JUST UP-AIR
Correct
Ivysaur is one of the most fun characters in this game, it truly is an Art

I've never felt more fear than I do being directly above it below Ivysaur
Fantastic work as always Izaw.
damn, I didn't even know Ivy's Nair was unsafe on shield, thanks Izaw! Honestly, I was waiting for this guide, yours are truly the best!
for some reasons, against some character you can't full hop nair against at 0%, you can IDJ nair instead and it will work
THX IzAw! you never fail to deliver!! was waiting for this!thx a lot
12:38 Man ivysaur is, err, loud
Awesome, this is the character I play least well as on pt, this stuff is gonna help. Can’t wait for zard
This is the Pokémon that I think I have the most potential with out of the three. Can’t wait to try all of these out!
B Reversed Bullet Seed is what I use to end combos normally, but as a ledge option? I love that idea, especially with the whole Vine Whip from ledge or short hop nair onto stage...
After Pokemon trainer can you do peach/daisy
PLEASE do art of Snake (after Charizard I’m guessing), I will be eternally grateful izaw ❤️

ooh im at 5:41 thanks!! Great guide as always
The man, the myth, the legend… Izaw. Thank you for this great video.
My favorite of the 3!
I needed a lil boost with my Ivy so thanks 😂

7:50 - Can someone explain to me why regular DI in is better than down + in? I thought LSI-ing should always be a good idea :0
Another source of help for pt mains everywhere
did Ivy soar get nerfed after this video? I do a full hop nair and there is not enough air time to do another aerial
Late reply Ik lol but you’re probably pressing the nair too late. Obv getting the full hop is important but if you nair to late you won’t have time for a follow up
Okay but how tf do you aim the vine whip?
full hop aerial into another aerial simply does not work . Was this patched ?
Very nice bro, can you make Art of Min min please?🙏🏼
So nobody’s gona make a video on Ivysaurs Vine whip actually connecting from Under the stage??? Smh & they say the love smash 💥
Quidd actually does that in tournament matches and actually landed one it let’s make big moves
I so excited for Art of Charizard!
Bulbasaur has always been my favorite starter but I fucking suck playing as ivysaur in smash lol.
good videos! you could make a video on art of diddy kong?
I hope to hear national park the grass pokemon theme if it was to b one😩
Squirtle Squirt
Is there an art of megaman?
I need an art of snake so bad!!

I dont have a main do you guys have any suggestions?
Depends on how you like to play and how new you are.if you like zoning go with samus or one of the links if you like spacing go with lucina if you like bait and punish go with inkling game and watch or Wario and if you like Rushdown go with pika or fox if you like heavys go with bowser or DK
Wohooooo!!
Lesssss gooooo
YOOOOOOO LESS GOOO
I'm pretty sure ivysaur is officially a girl
Next art of charizard
Feels illegal to be this early
anyone else not know about tilted vs smash razor leaf
The smash version goes faster and farther, while the tilted version is slower and travel less distance.

Its ass. You might be able to get away with it as a cheese option at low percents where you wont die if they fall out as usual
No, oh my god its trash. Does a bit of damage and has ok range but has years of endlag and it does not kill at all.
