I have had chronic osteoarthritis for many years which is only getting worse as I get older (67). I used the doctor prescribed codeine for over a decade but did not like the side effects. I was able to get off the opioids by using cannabis. It took some experimentation to get the dosage right, but well worth it. I mostly use edibles and tinctures which I make myself which is a lot cheaper than buying them at a cannabis store. While CBD is pushed a lot online, I find that THC works well for me. I am very functional during the day and later in the evening I can chill out watching tv, and take some more cannabis for a restful sleep when I go to bed. I wake up refreshed and no hangover effect. If I have a lot of pain I have found that if I take more and the effects are as powerful as morphine without the side effects.

When the research is close to saying that so far there's no negative effects on an adult brain then their research material ie cannabis is withdrawn.....hence not finishing the research and being back to square one! Another way that cannabis can be administered is topically, in the form of massage oils, creams, lotions, poultices, etc. ie applied to the skin for pain relief, like you might do for arthritis.

I stopped smoking weed for 6 months during my acl recovery. Here I am going to be 1 year post op and started smoking weed again just to flush out all the inflammation, swelling and lubricate the knee joints. I'm so close to return to my sport and feel like my normal self. Stopped taking ibuprofen as I was told by my doctor it slows down the healing process!

I take nabilone/cesamet for complex ptsd. I wish I didn't need anything yet the nightmares and insomnia caused by military and other traumatic experiences have often driven me to the edge of...insanity? It has helped but has not eliminated the main issues. They have been reduced in occurrence and are somewhat less intense, yet it's as if other horrors have been given room to come to the surface. Reality to me is my subconscious is having hallucinations when I'm conscious(?)

My knee bent backwards while running and i needed surgery. I was on dilaudid for 3 years and i became a needle junkie and started using my perscriptions in needle form. Im on methadone now and am using it also for pain reiief but am coming down off the methadone and then i will have no form of pain relief anymore. I want to ask my methadone dr about getting on the weed program so i dont suffer from chronic nagging knee pain which was supposed to be fixed by surgery but only fixed the movement problem and not the knee pain. I think i need weed to help me.

Look into studies using LSD and psilocybin for PTSD....they're finding amazing results with it.

Try CBD. The THC can cause rapid heart beat. CBD has very little or perhaps none of THC.

They wanted me on havy pills, get shots every second week, I cant move alot so much pain. When I eat edibals life goes from worsh to normal.. smoke just is temporary help. Edibals is way better
Is there any evidence to suggest cannabis could reduce, or prevent out right, SJIA flare ups and symptoms?

While there is some anecdotal suggestion that medical cannabis can help reduce some of the symptoms of arthritis, we're not aware of any clinical evidence as yet to suggest that it can prevent flares, especially in SJIA. As you can imagine, there is a great deal of sensitivity around the idea of using medical cannabis to treat symptoms of childhood forms of arthritis such as SJIA, which may be a contributing factor in the lack of research on the topic.
More broadly, the fact is that there are huge gaps in the data around medical cannabis and arthritis as a whole, including how it interacts with various forms of arthritis. The Arthritis Society is advocating strongly for additional research focus in this area, and funding research ourselves, to try and address these gaps and give patients and doctors the evidence-based guidance they need to make informed treatment decisions.

Thank you so much for your response and info. Was wondering if you are familiar with Dr. William Courtney and his push to use cannabis as a food and supplement. His wife was afflicted with several autoimmune diseases and has apparently had great result with juicing the plant. He also says that juicing it takes the controversial argument out of the equation because there are no psycho active compounds with this method. Yes, we're aware of Dr. Courtney's claims. He certainly speaks with great passion, and cites some extraordinary anecdotal experiences, however at this point there is no clinical evidence to support either the safety or efficacy of the consumption of raw cannabis as a treatment for arthritis or any other condition. If a researcher came forward with a scientifically meritorious research proposal to explore raw cannabis, we could consider it.
Our greatest challenge is that we lack sufficient funding to conduct all of the research that has already been identified as a priority. We remain committed to supporting research that leads to better quality of life today, while working ultimately towards a cure. Hopefully with increased awareness of the need we can garner additional support to address this and a number of other unanswered questions.

My knee bent backwards while running and i needed surgery. I was on dilaudid for 3 years and i became a needle junkie and started using my perscriptions in needle form. Im on methadone now and am using it also for pain reiief but am coming down off the methadone and then i will have no form of pain relief anymore. I want to ask my methadone dr about getting on the weed program so i dont suffer from chronic nagging knee pain which was supposed to be fixed by surgery but only fixed the movement problem and not the knee pain. I think i need weed to help me.
