I believe Ken has shown in a previous videos that he uses premade leather welt, which comes in long, continuous rolls, with long lap joints between pieces. But many makers here in the USA cut their own welts from common vegetable-tanned cowhide tooling leather. Some western bootmakers also recommend horsehide, but I have never tried it.
@@kemitchell I tried using vegetable-tanned 5mm sole leather to create the welt. For testing. It seemed hard and it made me doubt. Thank you, I got it.

What material is used to make the welt? I can't buy a welt anywhere in my city.
