    Hey everyone :) Just 2 things to say at the onset - firstly when it comes to a score of 528, there is undoubtably some component of luck to it. The margin of error is so small with a test like this that even some of the students that I've spoken with have said that this is definitely the case. The important thing though is not to exaggerate the attributable benefits of luck. I.e The difference between 528 and 500 is not "just luck." Therefore, I really do think it is important for perfect test takers to share their experiences for the benefit of everyone
    Item #2 (in case you didn't make it to the end of the video) - I'd really like to interview a 526+ scorer on this channel :) If this is you and you're comfortable to answer a few questions on camera, please let me know.

    I personally think that it might be more useful to see how individuals improved from a low score to a high one such as a jump from 505-515, rather than an initial score of 520. Some of these insanely high scorers might have a fundamentally different way of processing information that they aren’t aware of and their logic may already be oriented towards how the AAMC wants you to think. Their advice may come across as quite general because everyone with some preparation knowledge understands to do practice questions and fill in content gaps.
    Seeing how an individual increased their score might be more helpful as they may be able to explain and be aware of more changes that occurred in a detailed manner. For example, for the cars section an originally super high scorer may just be a skilled reader from before, but someone who improved their car score between each MCAT would be able to explain what strategies to try out in order to make that improvement yourself.
    Love your videos. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents regarding this topic and help more incoming medical students.

      Hi Balihar :) I really appreciate the insight and can agree with a lot of what you said. I don't know if you've seen some of my other MCAT videos but what you've described sounds a lot like my own story. I wrote the test twice - originally scored a 506 (125/127/126/127) and then changed my entire study schedule and pulled off a 517 (129/131/129/128). I've made quite a few videos about how I did this already and have spoken with many students who have used my study plan effectively but I thought that it would be a good idea to hear from the reallyyyy crazy scorers out there. Just to see how their plans differed from my own. All the best!

      @@nxtgenmd Thanks for responding! I just checked out your cars strategy video and its exactly what I think people need to see. Im glad you also have these amazing detailed videos out there, but I can also see the interest in seeing the studying approach of these 520+ scorers.
      I am entering my first year of medical school, but I only discovered your videos recently so I will definitely have to check out the rest of your catalogue. Good luck on your family medicine residency and I hope to see more videos about it!

    Can you share updated study schedule shared by your students who tweaked your plan

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  2 года назад

      Hi Rama :) unfortunately I do not have a step by step (day to day) study schedule from these students. I can say that in addition to the tips shared, one student really emphasized how Anki in addition to text resources were very helpful. Also, the UWorld question bank that I talked about in this video was something that I myself did not use during my own study schedule. I think that if you factor these resources into my original study schedule and extend the study time to 3 or and 4 months compared to my 2 and 1/2 to 3 months studying, you should consistently find yourself in the 520+ club.
      Hope this helps

      Hi Muskan, you should be eligible for the MCAT if you sign up but please see their official site on the AAMC. does the MCAT anki milestone deck work-I see a lot of people say it’s better than reading the books which shouldn’t be more than a month

    • @nxtgenmd

      Im unfamiliar with that particular deck, but one of the students that I spoke to for this video said that they really liked Anki in combination with a study book to help learn the material. imo you can’t plan to get 528. Once you cross 520, it’s all random to see if you get tested on your strengths or not imo. At from 520 to 528 i believe it’s about a 10 or less question differential.

    • @RayDeAsian
      @RayDeAsian 2 года назад

      This. Blows my mind how T5 school expect you to practically get a 95% score where one question wrong can bump you point up or down one.

    • @gunsae2440
      @gunsae2440 2 года назад

      @@RayDeAsian well to be fair, I think the point differential makes a 520 ~ 528 more or less the same. under 520, then guaranteeing that you score about 515 is definitely doable.

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  2 года назад +1

      I agree to some extend :) And so do many of the students that I spoke with. Personally, I think that the threshold is around 522-523 since one of my close friends was able to consistently hit this mark with their practice exams (which was incredible). In any case, I still do believe that the 528 is quite an accomplishment and that were can learn a lot for students who are able to hit that score.

    Third party practice questions are GARBAGE compared to what the AAMC offers. Even their question packs are more useful than any other third party questions.

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  2 года назад +1

      Hi Bob, that's definitely one take on it. Other students (myself included) really do like using 3rd party questions for prep. Especially since the AAMC does have enough questions to last for months if your student plan is based off of the usual 3 month split 🤙 glad the AAMC packs were enough for you

    • @bobgill4069
      @bobgill4069 2 года назад

      @@nxtgenmd To me it just became very obvious that doing 3rd party problems and then doing the AAMC materials was too different. The AAMC is so unique and sometimes just weird in how they ask questions that other companies either aren't allowed to copy them or can't. I feel going into AAMC questions after 3rd party is just too different, almost like you are studying for two different exams. It builds more confidence going into the exam and reading passages and question stems that seem familiar. That's my take on it.

      Hi Isaac :) A 528 scorer that I just interviewed a few days ago also said that she liked the Blueprint course. There are a variety of resources that you can use depending on your study schedule. Highest yield will be multiple full length practice tests 🤙 Prep books are also helpful for most students depending on your plan
