it has a tof sensor at the side to detect walls and a slam sensor at the front to detect some obstacles. the wall sensor works very well but the slam sensor is not the best
Very important question by @jesper. Any answer to this? My house is part hardwood floor and part carpet, some of which it needs to move across carpet to get to a tiled section where it needs to mop again. Seems that this won't climb 20mm with the mop attached? Too many risks without more details. I was looking at an alternative option that lifts the mop attachment. Yes the alternative doesn't self clean the mops which is a negative, but at least it can do a day to day activity and transverse over carpet with mops attached and also still climb with them on.
EVA is 360° All-round scanning precise navigation and can detect carpet automatically. Moreover, EVA can switch between mopping and sweeping models automatically, so no need to worry about this.
@@micronovelty121 I wasn't asking about the zones and realise most new vaccum/mops do this, but it seems it can't transition over carpet to tile (bedroom to bathroom) nor vaccum with the mop on. So I'd need to remove the mop anyway for most of the time (see my comment below). I really think that to reek the benefits of this design that you need a fully hard floor home. Otherwise you'll be constantly pulling them off and on, which I would then have more benefit from another one that lifts the mops so then only take them off to clean them (which will be less frequent)
No the app won’t allow the bot to go on carpets with the mopping pads on. I completely agree this bot has mainly been designed for a all hard floor home. If they couldn’t do the lift like the bot your talking about they should have done what Obode P8 promise. They say their bot will vacuum all first (with pads on) then mop.
@@MatTeague This is plainly not true. You just have the "carpet avoidance" mode turned on. Turn this off in its settings and you'll never have to touch the mop pads again.
You don't have to remove the mop pads to vacuum, and if you're concerned about any moisture from the pads hitting the carpet (which has never been a problem for me), just set the cleaning order to clean all carpets first then all hardwood last.
The bad side is that this model do not lift the mop head to clean carpet in the same cycle. And the robot does not have water container so the mop pads can not be dampen during cleaning cycle. I think the good competitor for it is the Roborock S7 MaxV
Purchased one recently and keep getting error message 'base station drain is blocked,' yet there's no reference in the manual nor a way to view the drain pipe without dismantling the entire unit.
@@micronovelty121 "real hands free" yea right... crap overpriced product. Even the current much cheaper roborock can auto raise its mop when going on carpet
I've been thinking (and reading) about the mop limitations.. Which to me mitigate the benefits of the self cleaning. So if you have carpet you want regularly vaccumed you will remove the mops for most of the vaccum working week so it cleans the carpet. Otherwise you won't have clean carpet. Then if you are removing the mops and reattaching every week to mop the hard floors then the self cleaning part is less beneficial as you can just clean the mops when you take them off all the time... Which defeats the purpose of it being a self managed system. So without a self lifting system like an alternative has, then the self cleaning part of the mop is not that big a benefit. Think I'll go back to the alternative that lifts the mops so it can climb, and also vaccum carpets without mnaully removing the mops and then mop my ensuite that's on the other side of a carpetted bedroom. Which is likely a common thing in houses. So from my view, this is a major design fault with this cleaner.
Think it's more of getting the mops cleans while still mopping, unlike the alternative that continues mopping with a dirty cloth. Which brings another issue? the bot will need to constantly goes back to base to rewet the pads since it doesn't have an internal reservoir. Along with unable to transition between floor and carpet, it's a bit of a miss. If it can lift the mops, then this would had been a winner.
@@nicolaslocke1433 I see another problem. Since it doesn't have an internal reservoir, it means that if it goes back to the station but it has to clean the farest room it will clean the room with partially dried mops (they keep spinning in the path to reach the room). This make senso to you?
From what I’ve read and watched, a dust bag will last 60 days and apparently can be reused. The reuse was from a user comment on the Indigogo page. So not sure if that’s 100% true
Dustbags arent that expensive if you can allready afford to buy one of these. I have had almost a year roidmi eve, so not this exact one and used about 4 dustbags. Lots of dirt with the kids on the countryside. I have had to manually empty the dustbin several times though. If there is bigger stuff in the bin or too full it might not empty itself. My house is big and complex enough so brand new it barely managed to do whole map vacuuming, but not anymore. It will need couple partial recharges to complete. Sadly there is no way to safe maps for future if it happens to f-up the map. It recently confuced its location and started to draw new surroundings over it. Couple factory resets also have been needed. Modifying the automatic room split also takes some time and i have done it about 6 times already, not counting the second floor whis is easier for it. Software leaves some hefty room for improvement. Automatic detection of wich floor it is one? Nope it will redraw the map if you forgot to change it from the app. Roidmis own app had issues connecting to the device but luckily xioamis app dont have that issue.

ROIDMI EVA is poorly designed. Its not a robot as you have to watch it constantly to attend to all the combination of errors.
