I noticed this shift when she began talking about the things she loves. Depression is so real, but there are little glitters of hope and the faint igniting of a flame, a tiny spark, that happens when our brain remembers why we love things that I’m really grateful for. And if you don’t feel that right now, don’t worry. You will soon. Rainbow after the rain vibes. The clouds will clear. Love to everyone.

That's fair. My problem is I literally cannot do things sometimes. The command will be echoing in my mind, louder and louder for hours, and yet I still cannot do it. I have my good days, but how on earth am I supposed to get through every other day with that kind of advice?
What you said is absolutely true--when applicable. The days I CAN do stuff, I always go hard so I can get myself motivated to do even more the next day (hopefully). But for those of us who cannot do things for no reason, we need more than that advice, you know?

That's so true wow. ❤ I get that tho. When I was told I have too much black and white thinking I was offended at first, but then I realized the therapist is just trying to help and that it's not an offense to me or meant to be one, so I shouldn't take it that way. ❤ Hope this helps anyone going thru therapy and dealing with those thought patterns

Getting finally diagnosed is such a bitter sweet moment, especially when it’s a period related issue and going through doctor after doctor telling you you’re pregnant or constipated and not listening. My pelvic cavity was full of menstrual blood and I finally met a surgeon that took me serious and when she opened me up she had to literally drain the blood out of my cavity. I was so close to getting sepsis, but finally someone actually listened to me!!

I had a similar experience. Women's health is so discounted, undertaught, and underfunded across the board. The last male doctor I had that I suggested a hysterectomy to laughed in my face. He had just admitted it is the only treatment available that would resolve it and said "But we're not doing that" and laughed at me.

i completely get what supreme leader was grappling with by experiencing a piece of culture commercialised for tourists. enjoying the artform while also realising how much of it has been made palatable to consumers, how much soul was converted to spectacle just for you. it’s an odd ‘i’m the problem’ feeling. when i graduated high school in 2019, i travelled to tokyo to celebrate instead of going to schoolies in my city. i tore through the streets of harajuku the moment i could, desperate to see the street fashion i admired my whole life captured in fruits magazine issues. what i found most was people just like me, and stores tailored for people like me; westerners, tourists. it was only when i explored the city on my own had i realised how much of the beating hearts of the subcultures i so admired had been cut out with a scalpel, paved over so consumers could walk up and down their homes and buy trinkets to take home with them. it was such a complex, peculiar feeling, stood there alone in a foreign country at age seventeen, thinking to yourself ‘i did this’. i loved my time in the cities i visited during my couple weeks stay in japan, but pockets of places made me feel guilty for wanting to go at all- made me feel as if my being there forced a performance of culture for my sake.

I don’t have PCOS but I have PMDD, which is also a period-related illness and real talk, I and many, many other women, 100% relate to everything in the first 10 minutes. The nuance of being a woman trying to get a diagnosis, then having it but treatments being so inconvenient and trivial. I was severely depressed since age 12, since my very first period, but I didn’t get a diagnosis until March this year at 20. I will never get the 8 years, my entire teenage life, back that I lost because I was so mentally unwell. And that’s just the beginning, there’s the difficulty of finding the right medication, specifically birth control, and how to cope with this in daily life UGH I could talk about it for ages. Women’s reproductive health is discussed a lot but still not enough, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the hormonal, mental health side. I love being a woman 😎

And just to be sure, I looked up the laws and cost of living and... it's way better than here? I almost went crazy because all my life people only tell me "Don't leave the US, everywhere else is so much worse!" and then I find out there are dozens of countries that are just as good, if not better 😂

Hey, Brittany! Flamenco dancer here! We dance many different styles - Bulería, Fandango, Alegrías, Solea, Sevillanas, etc! Each dance has its own emotion that it is trying to convey or it's simply a choreographed party dance. Sometimes, the lyrics to the songs have no meaning and sometimes they have all meaning. Flamenco is a melting pot of culture and history so it is different yet the same wherever you go. So glad to have you discuss it this week!

Oaxaca is home to the largest indigenous community population in the country and they have such a rich and amazing culture. The culture there is super rich, food is amazing, and talking with the locals is beautiful.
I recommend more Oaxaca if you want to feel the diversity of Mexico. Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Cancun are also beautiful, but Oaxaca is more traditional and interesting in my opinion.

Hey Brittany! You mentioned Chile briefly in this episode and I wanted to put you on to some music from Chilean singer/composer Víctor Jara (if you haven’t heard of him already). I feel like you would really dig his music; to me, his songs and his voice are like a warm hug and there was a really long period in my life where the only music I could listen to was his. Here are some (not all) of my faves in no particular order:
    -El Arado
    -Juan Sin Tierra
    -Cuando Voy al Trabajo
    -Plegaria a un Labrador
    -El Cigarrito
-La Flor Que Anda de Mano en Mano
    -Las Casitas del Barrio Alto
    -El Hombre Es un Creador
Some other compositions of his I also enjoy include, “Ilha De Sons”, “Cai Cai Vilú”, and “Lo Único Que Tengo”. If you (or anyone else) see this, I hope you give his music a listen!

@@mushpixie I'm so sorry I never saw this until now! first off, i just want to let you know that all of your feelings are completely valid! whether you are feeling disappointment or grief, or even relief and happiness! I felt all of those at the same time when I found out it was PCOS. To realize that all my symptoms were never my fault and my doings was reassurance I needed for so long. But to know that this is how our bodies work and will continue to work, and that if I wasn't born with these symptoms maybe life would've been easier growing up, that absolutely wrecked me. PCOS physical symptoms really affect one's mental state, so just know that you are so strong! Mentally healing from PCOS really helped me learn how to work around having it.
Personally, since PCOS usually gets discovered later on in someone's life (adulthood), you learn how to work around it. I'm assuming you have the same symptoms as Brittany which I do too! I personally take the Balance supplements from TheDetoxNow and my periods have slowly started to come back! It helps regulate your estrogen levels! But you have to stay consistent with the supplements :/ I've also noticed my body naturally fitting into clothes that used to be too small on me, so I can safely say they help with some physical symptoms.
I currently am not on a big fitness journey, but I can imagine that the supplements plus a healthy lifestyle and diet (mutual friends have told me that Keto has worked for them!) would work terrifically! Other symptoms such as facial hair and hyperpigmentation on the body, I still have to work around by shaving every 2-3 days and studying about body care!

I can’t get over the way I always get a Save the Children ad when watching the Broski Report literally going from talking about being a baby opossum and Wall-e dopamine hits to “I saw war” like jfc the whiplash.

Seriously got chills when Brittany was talking about her issues. I have been dealing with the same issues and feelings for so long. I am in Canada and getting help when you are a fat person with menstrual health issues is so hard. So on top of how the ussues effect me ive also been dealing with medical gaslighting and ignorance for 8 years..... anyways just here to say I deeply understand how fragile it makes you feel

Im so glad ,with all the issues your going though, you're getting all the answers to what your problems are. There is like so many horror storys of women never getting doctos to answer or even acknowledge the problems they deal with. I hope answers go to soultions fast !!!

Brittany, as a girl who found out my senior year of high school that my body was simply void of any hormones (barely an exaggeration), I understand the struggle. I was like literally bedridden for months. Having hormone imbalances literally messes with EVERY other process in your body, and it can be so exhausting to take care of yourself in those situations! But reach out for help and do your best to take your medications and take care of yourself, because you will start to see the difference it makes
