Okay, so I see some people accidentally spreading misinfo here, so some clarification: there are plenty of non-limited 4-star characters that have been added, they just didn’t get trailers. Only March and Serval got trailers as 4-stars. Additionally, the game has character selectors or welfares every couple patches, so it’s easy enough to keep up, especially with the strength of some of the free characters. But ONLY the limited characters get one of these fully animated trailers. Everyone else just gets a “Keeping Up with Star Rail” video.
Hey, now is a great time to start the game. The current banners are Acheron and Aventurine. Acheron is one of the most powerful dps and Aventurine is one of the best tank supports.
If you're interested in very story-driven games, I couldn't recommend this enough. Each planet gets deeper in its storytelling as you go along; the most recent (Penacony) has one of my favorite stories ever in video games. I'd watch a stream / vod if you choose to do so, I enjoyed your trailer reactions! If you watch more, I might suggest turning subtitles on as they like to sneak little pieces of lore in the subtitles for the animated shorts and myriad celestia trailers. Also, don't worry too much about what's "meta" if you play and start to get comments about it, you can clear story content with anyone. (But pull for Acheron, who's on the current banner. Ignore my username.)
The reason why the latest few new trailers aren't in english is due to the VA strike going on in the United states. A lot of them are on strike wanting protection and ownership of their voices in a time of AI. So they went with the JPN VA's under HSR management i think.
Commenting as I watch :) -Kafka is not a new character haha, she's been in the game since launch and had her banner a few patches after. -Also. you seem to think that pullable=good guys, which is not true, as there are many different factions and they dont necessarily like each other. Sparkle, Jingliu, Blade, Kafka, among others are...morally grey, to say the least. Not to mention Ruan Mei...😒 -But yes, as others have mentioned, most characters are limited, but they do have reruns. Acheron's and Aventurine's reruns are actually happening right now. -Speaking of Acheron, she is very strong lorewise, you are right -NOT YOU THINKING AVENTURINE IS A SIDE MISSION/EVENT 🤣 He had SO much screen time in the main story, trust me -Robin is a darling. Would you believe me if I said her whole kit is about singing

I love discovering your reactions of the gacha games that I know or used to play 😂💖 Yeah it’s a turn-based game like Reverse1999 but in 3D with part of open world (to walk around in each planet) HSR is still one of the Mihoyo games that I find very stylish, cool and pretty (Plus the lore is good too) By the way, in chinese the letter « Q » is pronunced « like TCH » in chocolate (english) and the « x » a little like « sh » like « show » Like this you will know 🤗 (because it’s a chinese game) Serval, Gepard (they’re both brother and sisters), Bronya and Himeko my favorites 🥹🙌💖 I am nostalgic now from this video haha

I would say all the characters seen here are part of the main story, each having their important part to play. Some have only appeared for a short amount and will likely get story continuence later. Also Star Rail has a pretty big group of villains/antagonists or morally grey characters amongst playable and will be getting more of them later with anticipated characters seen in the HSR Myriad Celestia Trailers.

You can definitely pull for quite a few antagonistic characters in this game and it's turn-based fully 3D like Persona, although you probably already know about that by now. From your character list, Firefly will rerun soon. She's limited but HSR gives a lot of rewards each patch, especially for new players, so you'd have a solid chance.
feixiao was just released a month ago so i dont she's having a rerun soon maybe jade rerun is in january or february or maybe march firefly will be sometime in december robin just had her rerun together with feixao so maybe it will take a while, but her brother will be released in dec 3 blackswan and jingliu might be for next year because a new planet will be introduced maybe for january
Funny enough you should mention Code Geass in the Firefly trailer because the last frame of her transformation is a reskin of a scene with Lancelot in Code Geass
I could tell from your first few reactions that you would love Blade 😄 I think you might enjoy his story with Dan Heng. HSR is heavily story based so if you like R1999 I suggest trying it!
All of the characters after seelie were limited and don't worry about not getting them. They give u enough jades to get them(I've gotten most of the characters while being f2p). Also the past characters get a rerun alongside newer characters so you'll just have to wait for the character u want
It's so interesting and scary to see everyone mentioning how all these characters are limited I am so used to Path to Nowhere and Reverse 1999 styles where they release a limited character during half and full anniversaries. But happy to see that you can get them being a f2p!

There's like a few standard characters (less than 10 currently) and the rest of the 5* characters are limited. So yeah it's like the opposite of Path to nowhere, more limited characters than permanent or standard characters.
Maybe one day! I don't want to get overwhelmed by too many games at the same time, haha I prefer immersing myself in the games first, getting to know the world, understanding the characters, and forming a solid opinion/feeling before checking out another one
