I'm looking at 2 cars, an 07 grand marquis and an 05 audi a6 4.2. I feel like the audi will offer a more "fun" experience, I have concerns when it comes to maintenance. I feel like the mercury will be easier and cheaper to maintain... Anyone have any input on the reliability of the A6 in terms of 150k+ miles on it?!
If you’re going for an A6 4.2, I’d get an 2007+. They got an refreshed FSI engine starting that year that had better a timing chain system than the older cars. Get a sport package car, you’ll get much tighter suspension, and noticeable handling difference. They’re great cars, but they demand good upkeep, and at this age, depending on what you get, you could end up doing lots of things that are too old and timing out or failing. Do your research, the Audi forums are a wealth of information. IMO, they’re worth it, but you have to know what you’re getting into. Best of luck.
