  • The Atlanta Falcons are looking for growth among several of their young defensive players including linebacker Troy Andersen. Host Aaron Freeman breaks down why the Falcons need a healthy Andersen to reach their full potential on defense. He discusses the team's overreliance on internal improvement from several young pass rushers, why Andersen's coverage potential could unlock Kaden Elliss' pass-rush ability, and help solve their struggles to cover tight ends.
Later, he discusses if Andersen's lack of experience will prevent him from reaching his full potential this year and how it could impact the Falcons defense.

I think the pass rush gets better this year and even better in 2025. That is, as long as they have the correct personnel on the field. The additions of Bralen Trice, Brandon Dorlus and Ruke Orhorhoro in the draft are very big steps in the right direction. Zach Harrison should make a leap this year as well. If they move Elliss and even Landman around a bit, they are both capable of providing pressure. I also think Landman isn't getting enough credit for what he did last season. He played 274 snaps less than Elliss did. Yet, he only had a dozen or so less total tackles, 2 less sacks. He caused 4 turnovers (3 ff and 1 int) compared to 0 for Ellis. PFF grades have them almost dead even on the season. He may not be the best in coverage but he held his own. If Andersen pans out, it only helps the situation. But we don't know yet what Andersen is really capable of. PFF grade on him thus far isn't too high either. Personally I think he will be fine. He has more athleticism than the other LBs on the team. He is just unproven at this point.

I love Nate “Landmine” Landman baby. I hope he has a repeat season at least but I would love to see that man take a step. I’m glad he’s a Falcon

I wouldn’t stress over the “negative comments”. At the end of the day you have to give your accurate assessment based off of what you see and your past experience covering the Falcons. Sure I’m optimistic about the season but at the same time, it does feel a lot like past offseasons where we just have to trust in the vision of the coaching staff and front office only to be thoroughly disappointed. And those disappointments are usually stemming from concerns that we had in the offseason. So while I hope we do good this year and I’m sure Aaron does too, how can we be mad because he’s giving an honest opinion based off of his own research and past experiences. It’s literally his job to cover the Falcons so I’m sure he’s doing his own research and has been for some time to give his opinion based off of some sort of actual information, versus his “hope” and “optimism”

This is why we are negative: this is becoming a broken record. This is just another video that points out what we did not invest in. He’s basically saying that he doesn’t see us improving and we are going to be worse than last year.

    • @DDT1192

@@jaredl.blassingame7086 he’s not even saying we definitely wont be better. It’s just not easy to see based off of the moves that were made and the holes that are still present on both sides of the ball.

@DDT1192 We spent 4 picks in the draft to improve the D Line. The idea we didn't try to improve is laughable. We still have Zach Harrison and Kaden Ellis that were brought in last year in the draft and FA respectively. We just need some of the investments we've made the last two seasons to pay off. We lost our best interior pass rusher last year. Grady will be back this season. The doom and gloom analysis isn't helpful. There's lots of reasons for optimism.
