I never really like the warden but when he said that he was glad Peter got raped and then Peter Marie says that she thought he was different and instead is letting rape do his job, that's when I started really hating him. He was a jerk and had his bias against Alvarez and Peter which clouded his judgement so every bad thing that happened to them was a good thing to him.
Warden Glynn let vengeance could his judgement. He really changed when his daughter was raped. His philosophy was based on retribution. Paying for the crime through punishment, instead of rehabilitation and redemption.
The Warden is an example of what happens when one becomes jaded and harden to the prison system. Glynn is not a idealistic man like McMannus who believes in rehabbing the men. Glynn does not view the prisoners as men but as animals that need to be tamed. He never cared about any of them all he cared about was control and keeping his co-workers safe.
@@delirous8 Considering that McMannus is disrespected and manipulated by the inmates, shot by Ross, brutally beaten by Omar, eventually has a nervous breakdown and watching his Em City closing due to Anthrax, it seems Glynn being jaded is better off.
@@windtalker4191 Exactly! OZ is a max security prison with psychopaths and career criminals. You can't treat these people like regular people. All of the criminals except for Said and Beecher never had a normal life in the outside. McMannus thought rehabbing, being their hero and trying the change them would be the solution but he was the one that got pushed around. McMannus had a god complex which is why he is worse then Glynn. Glynn was realistic, he was not politically correct but he knew the wiring of hardened criminals. He knew them too well and in some cases, he did not care if the prisoners killed each other as long as his employees were protected. McMannus thought he was above everyone in the prison cause he had a college education. If you are familar with the show Family Guy, the dog Brian is an accurate depiction of what Tim McMannus is like.
13:19 Eddie Malavarca spoke that line so beautifully, really lovely Italian diction. He deserves flowers for this portrayal. It's a really sensitive, accurate and raw depiction of someone who's been repeatedly traumatised and pushed in way over his head.
That scene actually disappoints me. Not about the actors. About the writers. When I saw that, I thought they were going to give Chucky some depth. He was always kind of a meathead enforcer (though Chuck Zito in real life is great!) and when he looks at Peter, Peter staring off with that haunted look in his eye, I thought maybe we were going to go in depth with Chucky’s feelings of responsibility/his relationship with Nino/his feelings of sympathy... but then he just goes back to being the muscle. I wanted to see his and Peter’s relationship presented clearer. They were pretty close in Season 2... and then he’s just gone. I agree it’s a great scene, I’m just mad they never did anything with it.
@@jamievenezia1617 We did get a small look into his mind, he's not afraid of dying, however, he's afraid of Officer Howell, he's a "loyal soldier", showed regret once he got word he needs to kill the guy Adebisi gave HIV to, we saw regret and pain on his face when he noticed Petey was raped again. I was surprised Chucky never tried to get Adebisi back after Adebisi kicked his ass and knocked him out with a large can of corn, guess he didn't want another ass kicking.
Wilshire Wilshire Certainly, but that’s all we ever got; small, innocuous things. I suspect you’re like me and have watched the show about a thousand times by now, but someone watching the show once may not even compile those things into a character. I just wish we got more to work with. Maybe a confrontation between him and Peter where Pancomo angrily confesses that he does feel guilty and responsible but that he can’t let that stop him from taking care of the other Italians when Peter wasn’t able to. A real moment. Maybe with no real resolution but both men could have it out in their own way. I read something once that explored a theory that the reason Pancamo was so easily duped by Ryan to kill Peter in season six was because it was Pancamo’s way of getting rid of the walking proof of his failure and guilt. That he used Ryan’s blatantly obvious attempt at manipulation as an excuse to finally get rid of his greatest mistake. It was interesting. I know they were balancing like 100 stories and 100 characters in this show at an given time... but I just needed more for Chucky. Great comment though. They did have smaller indications of his character. I just wish they had larger ones.
The Nun was such an idiot for not understanding WHY Schibetta was upset that his father cried over Muhammad Ali, of all people, let alone had shown ANY sort of emotion to anyone, but never to his son or family... :/

Schillinger is definitely gay tho. Any opportunity to do gay sbit he takes it
I never really like the warden but when he said that he was glad Peter got raped and then Peter Marie says that she thought he was different and instead is letting rape do his job, that's when I started really hating him.
@@delirous8 a bleeding heart liberal that thinks violent animals can come together in peace lol
13:19 Eddie Malavarca spoke that line so beautifully, really lovely Italian diction. He deserves flowers for this portrayal. It's a really sensitive, accurate and raw depiction of someone who's been repeatedly traumatised and pushed in way over his head.

2:06 Aw Peter makes a face of disbelief, or rolls his eyes, at Chucky saying "it was my screw up so I'm gonna cover for you."
Peter has a point. It's not like Chucky made much of an effort to stop Peter getting raped.
6:27, I always liked the part when you see disappointed on Chucky's face, his pisan once again is someone else's girlfriend.
They all cowards for letting the bosses kid get graped and not doing something about it.
Every Time Shillinger finish speaking..all I hear is "We are Farmers!! Du du du du du du"
"Oh yeah, table works good now."

Petey thought he was Sonny and Michael Corelone combined when he was more of a Fredo.
The Nun was such an idiot for not understanding WHY Schibetta was upset that his father cried over Muhammad Ali, of all people, let alone had shown ANY sort of emotion to anyone, but never to his son or family... :/
She understood, she just couldn't say anything to that. It just is, and since Nino was dead by that point, sadly there was no way for Peter to have closure.
“Keep ya Sunny side up” 😂
And for a fleeting moment I thought adebisi had a human side
He actually did help Peter at first. On an earlier episode.
He does. Remember he stopped Kenny from stealing the money from Rebadow's grandson with cancer.

That Ali story was dope.
Adebisi screwed his courage to Peter's sticky place....
Imagine how bad it was for Pete. He already was on about how smelly and unclean Adebisi was.. And Simon didn't even spit... He took Petey dry and rough... I bet he was split up the back like a piece of dry firewood! Especially to be a so called boss and be split by a 'moulli' then be wrecked by the Aryans and treated with nothing but disrespect. The actor played it exceptionally well. The talk with Beecher was amazingly well done. He should have been used more in the show... I mean making Omar White such a main character and wasting characters like Peter.

He definitely shouldn't have blamed Chucky.
I also thought he was told he "was out of the family," after he was raped in Season 2.
@@molasorrosalom4846 I think that's when operations got passed on to Pancamo who was the only one giving him the time of day. I supposed the last name Schibetta still meant something in Mob Circles but Peter was no Nino.

No, remember after he was raped? He was in the hospital, in shock, and the one suit told him, "You're out, you're out of the family."
This was a very strange show.
First off if you go to prison like I have, the best thing to do is not join any gang's and only make 5 friends!
I wonder what happened, did the actor who played Peter ask to leave for a few seasons? He wasn't around in the 2 part season 4. They explained away his absence when he came back that he was in the psych ward for a long time but I wonder if he asked off the show or they originally wrote him off & then decided to bring him back later.
I think Eddie Malavarca was filming Ciao America around S3-4 time (I'm not entirely sure), so I don't know if maybe he went away to film that or just didn't wanna be around the show too much. I heard that Dean Winters said in an interview that Malavarca found it tough playing a rape victim but I don't know how true that is (it was said on some rando forum), honestly. I wish we knew all this behind the scenes stuff - it'd be super cool to know! :)
Dancing Jagi TY for the response. It was a tragedy how far Peter Schibetta fell from grace. Just before he was killed he seemed to make peace w everything that happened and wanted to tell his wife about the rapes and just try and live a normal life as possible in Oz. He should have kept quiet about that evil eye shit.
Haha, don't mention it! I love discussing this sorta stuff! I know right! I would have loved to have seen the scene between him and his wife extended and like, in some strange, alternative universe - him actually getting revenge. Man, that would have been an awesome storyline.
