    Met Croz thru a friend.
He Invited my wife and I over to his CA home, as we met nearby.
Spent an next entire day with David, with my wife. We went driving, went to his fav lunch place and toured their great home.
He was humble, polite, and welcoming.
    Highlight of my life.

Ive been listening to you and David Crosby since 1969. With David's passing, Rock and Roll has entered a new era. The 60s, and early 70s, we can not go back now. There is no going back home for us babyboomers. David's voice, was as influential as anyone other than the Beatles.

David was a pioneer and an innovator. Just go over his songs -- he didn't write songs like other people's. He was eclectic in his musical tastes. He said he learned his intricate and haunting harmonies from listening to Bulgarian women's choirs. He gleaned musical data and inspiration from classical music, from jazz and folk music. He had me from "What's Happening?!?!" I became a Crosby-head, and stayed with him through all his ups and downs and ups again. He really hit his stride in the last ten years with some truly astonishing music. Maybe to some people he's just a "footnote," but he had an extraordinary effect on my life since 1965, and I will always be thankful, and I am happy that he finished well, except that he checked out just a little too soon. Isn't that the way it goes? He kept talking about his impending demise, like he had only so much time left, and then ... he's gone. And then there was that tenor voice, oh my .... Kerouac was right -- nothing lasts.

Then a few years later I heard the Crosby/Nash version of My Country Tis of Thee and it blew me away...it's such a simple song, made so beautiful by Michael's arrangement and their soaring vocals. I honestly don't know how you can listen to the rendition you played in this video without crying...because I made it about 5 seconds before the waterworks came. a treasured memory: early 1990s, the brilliant Michael Hedges @ The Bottom Line in NYC, 2nd show... David and Graham Nash were in the audience, not far from my wife and me. Near the end of the set, they came up onstage to join Michael for "i carry your heart," Michael's setting of an ee cummings poem; lovely, their three voices blended so beautifully. As the applause peaked, Michael launched into "Ohio"; David laughed, I think from being taken by surprise, but of course they did it well -- including David passionately tearing into his iconic "how many more!!" part at the end.
May your memories of these fine gentlemen forever grace your heart and evoke a smile.

David started exhibiting jazzy inflections in his music all the way back in the Byrds and he never stopped… it’s part of why I loved his music so much, and part of why it has so much spiritual staying power. Beautiful tribute, Leland.

Just awesome, this contribution to his legacy. I've got some shallow minded friends who will not be able to grasp the depth of his body of work. For the collaborators/ the singers of harmony , David Crosby will be remembered forever.

I first met Michael Hedges when Donnie Record brought him to my studio in Colorado in '77 or '78. Michael crashed there for some days and improvising with him was sheer joy. The only time I met David Crosby was during one of the anti-nuke gigs in New Mexico. I shared the bill in France a couple times with Veronique first in '94 and ... I was living in France when we lost Michael. I couldn't process it! Peace Brother Leland.

One of my favorite songs of David's is this one: "I belong on the shore. Hustling nickels and dimes. It ain't long before it's gone. Might as well have a good time." David always looked unflinchingly into the face of death. His death. He never knew when it would come, but he knew he was gambling, hustling, nickel and diming it all the way towards his date with it. I bet he was surprised to live as long as he did, knew he was victorious beyond anyone's reckoning. It's amazing that he was as productive as he was, well into his final months and weeks. I followed him in Twitter, and never had an inkling this was coming. He's going to forever be one of my favorite singers and songwriters. Until my own day of reckoning. Missing you, Croz.

"Find a heart" is a beautiful song, I'm 38 and my first time hearing it. I love those notes, and the growl of the bass with the piano. David's voice just naturally cuts through. Very catchy 👏
