Had no idea this was the first VHS recorder. My mum and dad could not afford to buy one,so rented one from Granada for a couple of years, before affording an NEC with remote control..such luxury!
I remember being about 13 years old back in 1990 I saw this jvc VCR at a boot sale for £10 got it home but it didn't work the head drum wasn't spinning, when I took it apart it was like spaghetti junction with rubber belts everywhere, luckily for me though the flat belt that was used to operate the head drum had slipped off I put it back on and that was that I had a working VCR, was my first ever VCR it was cool, lol the crap I used to record on it ahh good days, I had it for a few years, there used to be a lot of old vcrs in boot sales and charity shops back on the day I used to buy all sorts absolutely love this format.
Any chance you could do a comparison video between this big old VHS deck and a more modern high quality VHS deck from, say, the 90s? You know, play back the same tape on two decks, capture their performance and then show the difference. I'm curious to see how such an old deck holds up in terms of quality to a more modern VHS deck. But please, do video captures rather than just shooting the camera at the TV screen. It's pretty difficult to get a true impression of the quality from a camera pointed at the screen.
@@italovalerio over the years many improvements are made on the VHS system. I agree the difference in sound and picture quality is big when you compare a older and newer VCR`s.
@minimaxxl8 Please could you tell me - do the channel indicator lights on this VCR remain lit when the machine is put into standby? I’m investigating a possible problem with my own.
Hi, With the VCR in standby all lights, including the channel indicator lights are off (except the clock). In het video the channel indicator lights are off because non of the channel buttons is depressed

Genau diesen Videorecorder habe ich auch noch in meinem Wohnzimmer. Tolles Gerät.
We had one of those... they were built like Tanks! Nice to see one still working
Quite the looker🤩
So easy to use. Never after this one could I ever work out how to program a video to record something when I was out😂
Very good status.

That is a good idea. Ik will have to dig up my SuperVHS machine from 1998. I will do that.
@@minimaxxl8 looking forward to it. When you done it, leave a comment here so I'll be notified.
Actually, for now, just do a capture of playback from the deck in this video.
@@minimaxxl8 I made a test with HR-J401M (mono JVC) and HR-S3901U with same tape, the difference is big. Sound, Colors and video stability.

@@minimaxxl8 Thank you, that's what I thought it should be.
Very good status. Great vintage.
Which brand in this television ?
The TV is a Sanyo CPT3243, the same TV is in this video: ruclips.net/video/nyIHntxGMzA/видео.html
Was the television flickering as it appears
on this video, or was that from the camera?
Camera
I have one of these myself, but it needs belts replacement.
It works! I can't get a vintage VCR that works!!!
