    I love your energy and joy over your beautiful pen! The way you describe each moment is wonderful to experience. I felt like were handing me the pen and saying, "See? See? Feel this!" So good. It's little late to wish you happy birthday, so....maybe next time.

    Thank you friend. I have a blue medium with gold trim on the way from Japan. I have had a clear demonstrator with fine nib for 10+ years. Love Pilot pens and their wonderful nibs! You selected a great birthday pen, I’ll call mine a New Year pen!

    Happy birthday and congratulations on a beautiful pen! I have ordered several pens from Pen Saachi over the years and have been very pleased with their selection, prices and service. I live in the US and got the pens relatively quickly. They seem to have some offerings that the US retailers don’t carry. I have a Custom 74 in Merlot with a medium nib, and really it has become my everyday carry. It’s really just a very good all rounder and the nib is super smooth which I like. I have two Pilot 912s, which you would probably enjoy - they are bit larger but only come in black and silver I believe. They have a really good selection of nibs and I have one with a stub nib and one with a Waverly nib (I’m left handed and the waverly nib is supposed to work better for lefties.) Anyway, nice video - keep them coming!

      Thanks! I will be ordering from Pensachi again! They have colours that don't seem to be available in Canada and the nib selection is great. I almost ordered a music nib but went with a soft medium. One pen that tempts me is the Pilot custom 823. Might have to start saving up!

    Happy birthday. I have three Pilot Varsities. Great writers. But they have the worst snap caps ever and the fact that you can't easily refill them really bothers me. I love my Pilot Kakuno. I hate the con-70 plunger. Maybe mine just doesn't work. I almost always fill the con-70 with a syringe. Also I have all 4 Pilot parallel pens. What a hoot, so much fun. I don't really do calligraphy, maybe I'll learn. But I love playing with them and making random designs. I do hope to get a Pilot gold nob pen some day. I'm still a novice in this world and as I learn I'm just thrilled that there are so many nice quality low cost pens etc upon which I can figure out what I like.

    Happy birthday and congratulations on the new pen! I have a clear demonstrator Custom 74 with a fine nib and I can write with that pen for hours on end. It's very comfortable. One downside of the demonstrator model is that the ink that gets in the section is visible (and impossible to remove by normal cleaning), which bothers some people, but I've gotten used to it.

      What I often do with a lot of my pens with converters (certainly the few) clear demo ones is to not dip the nib into the ink bottle. Instead, I always fill
      the converter (the Con-70 in the case of the C74 pen) with ink using a syringe. That way, the nib and the area of the section behind the nib are never stained, which is quite unsightly indeed.

    I just got this in the mail and love it. I prefer to use a syringe to fill the Con 70 (I saw that on Goulet pens). I also have the Custom 823 and now I am pretty much hooked on Pilot pens for sure

    I've bought exactly the same black/gold Custom 74 but with a Fine nib, and use exactly the same Kon-Peki inks which I adore! However my Pilot had tines too tight to each other, so I had to massage them a bit for better ink flow. My favourite pen though is Platinum 3776 Century which writes like a dream straight out of the box, and slightly bigger (including bigger gold nib).

      I have a soft medium on mine and I love it. I have a hard fine on my Sailor pro gear slim and it took me a long time to love it.

    • @snowmean1
      @snowmean1 Год назад

      @@PEIPenGuy Sailor nibs are really hard, so yeah they require some dedication. I have heard multiple times that Pilot Fine nibs can be pretty stiff from the factory, and frequently require additional massaging/use in order to develop their characteristics.
      Overall I think Pilot produces the smoothest nibs from all japanese companies, Platinum has slight pencil feedback (don't confuse with scratchy), but gosh it writes well.

    Happy Birthday~! I've really had trouble deciding between this pen, the Sailor PGS and the Platinum 3776 for a first gold nib. How's this 74 compare to your Sailor PGS?

    • @PEIPenGuy

      It took me a while to love my sailor. It has a hard fine nib and is hard as a nail. I liked it much more with Diamine Oxford Blue and some time. I really love the soft medium nib on the Custom 74. For me, it's perfect.
      I ordered it from Pensachi. There are lots of nib options and some different colours than I can get in Canada. Even with customs and shipping it was cheaper too.

    Hi, thank you for the nice review and I am thinking of buying Pilot custom 74 with soft medium nib, but I also want the soft fine medium, just want to ask if the soft medium is of the same smoothness and line width as Lamy 2000? I already have Lamy 2k, I thought of buying the soft fine medium, because I already have Pilot Metro Fine and Medium nibs. I really enjoy my Lamy 2k, I think if the 74SM is of the same smoothness, I think I will go with it. Or, do you think soft fine medium is good too, I watched the video about the line variation of Pilot custom 74 nibs and it seems soft fine medium is wet and "almost a medium too", so I am really conflicted on which to get. I hope you can shed some light :)

    • @PEIPenGuy
      @PEIPenGuy  2 года назад +1

      My 74 is a soft medium and my Lamy 2000 is a fine, and the the line width is similar. The 74 is smoother and has a nice soft spring to it. The Lamy is harder and still smooth but there is more feedback. Both are great pens and very different. If I had to choose between the two the Pilot is my favourite.

    Should I buy Custom 74 Soft Medium for a daily notes like as a doctor can it be problematic with regards to nib softness?

    • @PEIPenGuy
