Hey Callum! I get this sort of comment all the time. The irony is that I have never even watched GOF, and that the first time I was compared to Ser Davos, I had to Google the character to find out what it was all about! :-)
My wife has never asked me to restart a gear review video, so it came as a shock when she told me to hit replay on this one! Great demo, I have one on the way now. Subbed.
Best Canyon review by far! You are the only reviewer who gets the musical possibilities of S/H mode and the secondary functions. I dig your style. This review really makes me want a Canyon!
Don't normally leave comments but I've waited months to buy this now I have the cash and it's in stock I'm sold ...that's the best vid I've seen Cheers!
I might mention ,if I may, that at $139.00 this is a great pedal for people on a budget like me.I've had mine for a couple of weeks and am getting a real blast out of it.
for 109 Euros you get a Zoom MS70CDR with a shit ton of Delays, Reverbs, Chorus and other stuff in it. You can pair up to 6 effects simultaneously [depending on the DSP], use the Guitar and Bass EQ in it, a Noise Reduction and a Line Selector. Has a tuner and Tap Tempo.
for the most part they are quite alright. Deep editing too. They seemed to have copied stuff from Eventide, Strymon and other companies quite well, while others do suffer in terms of quality. The Chorus are pretty good, most of the delays are excellent and some reverbs could be improved; but you get A LOT from it. Here's a list of what they have copied: www.zoom-na.com/sites/default/files/products/downloads/pdfs/MS-70CDR_FX-list_English.pdf
This pedal is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the best delay pedals I have ever used. The shimmer delay effect is so much fun to play around with
Might be the first PRS shaped guitar I actually like the look of This really is a fantastic demo by the way. Thanks for playing stuff that would actually fit into a modern record. I think a lot of these newer delay pedals have functions that weren't around before so the way you play really show's off the Canyons potential!
Joshua Fraser it’s an Eventide algorithm, not sure if EHX stole it or paid for it. That being said I own and LOVE this pedal.... getting the Oceans 11 next. EHX is amazing.
I picked one of these up a few days ago, I love mine! The octave and shimmer settings can get pretty ambient, and i always have a real weakness for tape echos. Replaced a DD-7 on my board, wasn't even close.
That's funny because I just got mine today & I tried to trade in my BOS DD-3 but they wanted to give me 30 dollars for it. I said NO ill just get the canyon pedal.
great demo and playing, you really nailed some great sounds. I could hear a lot of sounds that I love in Mogwai. I hope you don't mind but I have one suggestion, don't know how hard it would be to do but it would be great to see the settings on the pedal like in proguitarshop demos. It would really help get some of those sounds. Anyway, great stuff, I'm really enjoying your videos!
The Tape delay on this pedal is superior to the TC flashback IMO. It's just like a dub reggae sound right out of the seventies. Actually, I found most of the types overall tastier and more varied than the Flashback. With the tap tempo and secondary knob edits it's not even a fair fight.
I've seen several of your videos. As a fan of ambiant sound, I have to say you play some very cool stuff. For it to be a small pedal,it really carries alot of sound. Great video.
Nice demo. Glad you are using your PRS 277. I have the same guitar, and enjoy hearing you play / create new sounds and effects with it. Thanks for making the demo
Great demo.... Bought this pedal the other day, lots to explore. Enjoyed your exploration of it. If you haven’t already, you should demo the Ocean’s11 pedal, another EHX gem.
That was one of the best demo vids I've seen in awhile. The device really compliments your style which in turn highlighted the potential of the pedal. After hearing this demo I'm going to have to reconsider my next pedal choice. With only enough cash for one pedal the choice better be the correct on. The combination of 'verb and delay on this EH makes it a strong contender for my style which is based mostly around evolving extended jazz chord voicings. Also really dug the little quip at the first, what was it. . . . "you may be modulated.. . ." or something like that. . . hilarious dude!.. . of course I'm modulated! is there any other way? LMAO . . . good presentation man. Thanks
Hi, a couple of questions about secondary knobs function on Canyon delay. For example... When i turn knobs in secondary mode, does this changed settings remain in the standard mode when i return to it or just stay in that secondary mode? I ask this because of chance to ruin or screw up default settings in standard mode with messing in secondary, without memory how it was before messing with controls in secondary mode. Further more, does the pedal memorize the knob position of the settings in the secondary mode when you return to it later, or behave in „one time only“ manner? To be more specific, when turn knobs in some way in the secondary mode, then return to normal, turn the knobs in a different position, then return to secondary, the sound remains like I leave it before returning to normal mode or apply automatically the new position of knobs, which I change in mean time, to sound? Both questions are about same thing with different approach. And one more thing ... Does pedal change, in any way, original, dry sound of an instrument when engaged? I mean both on first stroke (first note or chord than you strike) and delayed, repeated one? Or there are no changes in continuity, tone of sound, delayed or not? Apologize for so mush data and questioning. Please help. Thx in advance!
The dmm demo was far and away my favorite part and my favorite effect on this pedal. This pedal seriously packs a punch way above its weight. Got mine used for $99..I'll never get rid of it. I do want that new dl4 mkii, but still won't part with this.
The Immerse is indeed stereo inputs and outputs. Also, the reverbs are stunningly good. That being said, only you can decide if it is worth the additional money.
The Canyon sounds pretty impressive, particularly considering the price. It does a good shimmer too. You should check out the Specular Reverb 2, by GFI System. It's an ambient player's dream machine. It's shimmer is the best I've ever heard.
I gotta get me one of those pedals. I love the reverse and the shimmer settings which I'd use for more experimental music, plus a wah wah pedal. I love to make psychedelic music.
You made this sound amazing! I'm researching delay pedals now and really like the echo type tape emulation ones. I also think having reverb in the same pedal would be cool so this has really piqued my interest. Thank you for such a lovely demo. I sort of got lost in your playing at times :-)
I've pretty much only ever played through a simple, one amp setup so I don't think I really need stereo. None the less, I'll definitely check out your other demo too, thanks!
I hear theres an internal tap mode you can access to get like 3 types of notes..like dotted 8 notes etc.My question is how do you access those do you press the white tap button or the silver footswitch button?
Bill descibed tha Tap buttons functions incorrectly... you can either tap it repeatedly to set the tempo (this can be disabled), press it once quickly to access three seperate note divisions, or hold it down to access the secondary functions.
Hi Bill, I’ve been interested in this one due to space limitations and for ambient use. Are their any other good, compact digital delays you’d recommend checking out? Which do you find most interesting or fun to play with for creative ambience? Thanks
Great tone, congratulations! This pedal sounds as good as strymon or boss, it seems very interesting. The button between the knobs it seems very interesting too. I'd like to know: have you ever used the Zoom G1xOn, G3 or G5? Forgive my English, I'm Brazilian.
Hello! No - I have not used any of the Zoom pedals you mention. Several people have mentioned these pedals, and some have said they have gotten good results.
How authentic is the DMM mode? Still have a bit too much of a digital sheen over it or not? Sounds good this video. If it holds up well compared to my original DMM I might get this.
It's hard for me to say how it compares to a real DMM, as I have not played one for many years. I can say however, that the DMM mode on the Canyon sounds nice - organic and musical.
Just a great pedal it took me a minute to understand how to use all it's functions but once you do you'll be experimenting with sounds you probably never had access to before.
Do you think i should buy the Canyon or the Flashback 2? I know this one is mono which is okay for me. The question is if the Toneprint & Mesh function is that useful. The sounds which are on the Canyon sound better to me, but it’s only one advantage.
The Mash switch is basically an expression pedal and if you will never use an expression pedal with a delay, then there is little value for you. The TonePrint feature allows you to add 3 additional presets to the 7 already on board (plus the looper). I feel like you may have answered you own question though... :-)
Sounds nice, but I think the Digitech Obscura Altered Delay is a better option yes I know it has only three presets but they're great ones and is stereo ins and outs
Doing alot of Delay research; looking for a smaller footprint pedal with Tap Tempo or expandable Tap capable input. This Canyon seems awesome as it has some magic sounds in it... Would it function as a typical 'non psych' delay if parameters are dialed down?
How was the noise floor on this pedal? I almost bought a Pitchfork because I loved how it handled polyphonics, but the noise floor was too high for me. Also, if EHX would add stereo to their pedals, that might be a deciding factor.
If you are going to add a stereo chorus to This would it be before or after? What an amazing video in an amazing product this sold me it's exactly the sound I am looking for ... great video. Very informative
If you want the stereo effect, your only choice is after, since this pedal is mono. If you want to chorus the signal before you delay it and retain the stereo image, you will need a stereo delay with stereo inputs.
Great demo, man! Thinking about getting one for my live ukulele gigs when i do instrumental compositions! How do you think it would sound with an electric ukulele?
Do you have any experience with the TC Electronic Flashback? If so how would you say the Canyon compares? I've been wanting to add a Flashback and the 2 seem fairly similar
I don't have the Flashback, however, the Flashback Triple Delay has many of the the same delays types, and they all sound great. Some comparison points: 1. Flashback stereo, Canyon mono 2. They both have loopers 3. Sub-division selections similar 4. Flashback has TonePrint slot to load custom delay settings 5. Canyon has secondary functions, Flashback not 6. Flashback more "pristine" sounding, Canyon funkier 7. Flashback up to 7 seconds delay, Canyon 3 (i think) For me, the first decision point is mono vs. stereo. The decision may knock out the Canyon immediately if you need stereo. From there, it's a matter of taste.
Chords Of Orion I think with the Flashback having TC Electronic's TonePrint capabilities it could easily catch up in the "funky" department... great review of the Canyon pedal I am very much enjoying your videos and learning to play alittle ambient guitar
Nice to see Ser Davos has taken up guitar
Hey Callum! I get this sort of comment all the time. The irony is that I have never even watched GOF, and that the first time I was compared to Ser Davos, I had to Google the character to find out what it was all about! :-)
Haha, just recently discovered your channel and love your videos!
Chords Of Orion is a spitting image of him.
honestly, doesnt look that much like him
Ggghahaha for godsake...honestly he looks alike davos
You are like the Bob Ross of music. Love all your work
I think this pedal ships standard with an ounce of Purple Kush.
bonzo230 It should... It feels like I’m puffing it when I play.

Glad to have been of service! :-)

What is your opinion of the sonic quality of the effects? I've been thinking about getting one to demo here on the channel.
for the most part they are quite alright. Deep editing too. They seemed to have copied stuff from Eventide, Strymon and other companies quite well, while others do suffer in terms of quality. Good to know. Thanks!!!
I think it's great at any budget. I'm probably ditching my Timeline for the Canyon. The Canyon does tape and reverse much better IMO.
This pedal is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the best delay pedals I have ever used. The shimmer delay effect is so much fun to play around with
As someone who started messing around with MIDI in the 80's, I am amazed at what you can get for the money these days!
The tech has progressed in leaps in bounds
Thank you Davos Seaworth
Might be the first PRS shaped guitar I actually like the look of
This really is a fantastic demo by the way. Thanks for playing stuff that would actually fit into a modern record. I think a lot of these newer delay pedals have functions that weren't around before so the way you play really show's off the Canyons potential!
Glad you enjoyed the demo! And the guitar - I really like it!!
That was more soothing than my meditation class. Great work.
What a lovely guitar player
Wow, that shimmer.
I have to say it is a very nice shimmer!
Sooooo niiiice 😍
Joshua Fraser it’s an Eventide algorithm, not sure if EHX stole it or paid for it. That being said I own and LOVE this pedal.... getting the Oceans 11 next. EHX is amazing.
Yup bought it on the strength of the shimmer alone. I'd prefer a standard 9v adapter rather than ehx 9.something volt
I picked one of these up a few days ago, I love mine! The octave and shimmer settings can get pretty ambient, and i always have a real weakness for tape echos. Replaced a DD-7 on my board, wasn't even close.
Excellent!
That's funny because I just got mine today & I tried to trade in my BOS DD-3 but they wanted to give me 30 dollars for it. I said NO ill just get the canyon pedal.
And now the DD8 is out and I think it can go pretty toe-to-toe with the Canyon. Love them both honestly!
This has got to be the most chill dude ever
I’ve had this pedal for 2 years and never figured out how to use it until now.. thank you so much
Man, that loop function Jam was breathtaking. What a beautiful sound... would it be better to get the canyon instead of the memory man?
Get the canyon!
Don’t know how you did it, but my stomach growled and I heard it go through the delay. That thing is amazing!
Great demonstration of what this pedal can do. Thank you for putting the time in to share this with us. Sounds terrific!
You are welcome, and I am very glad you found some value in the video!
This man can create miracles even with low-quality delay or reverb pedals. He knows how to use a pedal in efficient ways.
great demo and playing, you really nailed some great sounds.
You play the most captivating original music I've ever heard.
Came for a demo, stayed for the playing! Awesome jams dude. I want this pedal even more now xD.
I gotta get me one of these. Merely for the reverse and shimmer effects.
Bought this today. Lots of tasty features squeezed into one box. Tap tempo is a fantastic addition, along with secondary function feature.
Excellent!
Only halfway into the video and man, do you make impeccable videos.
Man - when you star using the looper...that is some awesome sound.
keep up the good work friend!
Thanks!
Chords Of Orion when using the Looper, what effects were ahead of pedal?? Killer job man!
Great video and great playing. I loved what you did with the sample and hold function.
You have so much soul in your playing. I could genuinely listen to this all day. Superb my friend.
Thanks!
I watch the video for the reviews and stay for the playing, amazing sounds Mr Bill.
11:45...beautiful, man. Thank you for this lovely playing & creativity.
Just got this pedal, and oh I'm modulating too, my man
Thanks for the great review!
Yesss!
Congrats for the best demo of this lovely. A picture of the knobs on each setting would be a great help
Love your reviews and your sound. Motivated me to pick up my guitar again. Thank you!
Just picked up this pedal as a part of getting back into playing. Your playing in this video is really really interesting and emotional. Bravo!
Thanks very much!
your voice make me feel calm -_-
The Tape delay on this pedal is superior to the TC flashback IMO. It's just like a dub reggae sound right out of the seventies. Actually, I found most of the types overall tastier and more varied than the Flashback. With the tap tempo and secondary knob edits it's not even a fair fight.
Just picked this up after playing with it for 4 hours in the shop.
Awesome!
THAT SONG AT THE END WAS MASTERFUL!
I've seen several of your videos. As a fan of ambiant sound, I have to say you play some very cool stuff. For it to be a small pedal,it really carries alot of sound. Great video.
Boy I sure need to practice that hybrid picking stuff. Ultra cool.
Great demo, I bought one of these used after watching. Nice playing too, very authentic ... I'm a fan of improv like this
For the money, this is a pretty sweet pedal. I'm running two delays and one reverb/delay, this could conceivably replace two of those pedals.
great demo. I learned alot more about this pedal now! It's got so many features
Had one for about a week. Awesome little toy.
you are a wonderful video blogger, thank you so much for your posts Sir!!
You are very welcome!
Nice demo. Glad you are using your PRS 277. I have the same guitar, and enjoy hearing you play / create new sounds and effects with it. Thanks for making the demo
Thanks! Good to hear from a baritone "brother in arms". :-)
That PRS Baritone is so gorgeous
Just bought this pedal. Tremendous video. Thank you!
Excellent!
I love that Shimmer mode.
It is nice, especially for a less expensive pedal.
Great demo.... Bought this pedal the other day, lots to explore. Enjoyed your exploration of it. If you haven’t already, you should demo the Ocean’s11 pedal, another EHX gem.

And thanks for the kind words! Hope your pedal choice (Canyon or whatever) gets you where you want to go!
Pretty impressive lil pedal. Great demo as always!
Wife just bought me one... Can't wait to play..and create.

Love the use of double stops.
The dmm demo was far and away my favorite part and my favorite effect on this pedal. This pedal seriously packs a punch way above its weight. Got mine used for $99..I'll never get rid of it. I do want that new dl4 mkii, but still won't part with this.
Always impressive, love the work you put into your vids! Great pedal too 😎
Great sounds my man. I already have multiple delays but this one keeps screaming out to me!
Whatball you got? I got this and a dd7
I remember seeing them advertise this and thinking you should do a review!
What is the big advantage of the immerse pedal over this one? Stereo out? Immerse costs almost double.
The Immerse is indeed stereo inputs and outputs. Also, the reverbs are stunningly good. That being said, only you can decide if it is worth the additional money.
12:15 playing Michi by the Yoshida Brothers? So cool!
The Canyon sounds pretty impressive, particularly considering the price. It does a good shimmer too.
You should check out the Specular Reverb 2, by GFI System. It's an ambient player's dream machine. It's shimmer is the best I've ever heard.
Thinking about snagging one of these next week, been messing with one for a few days in store.
My board is begging to have one of these on it .
I love your videos.
I wanted to ask, Which one is better? EHX Canyon or TC Electronic Flashback one?
@chords of Orion hv u ever done demo on carbon copy delux? And do any analog padels comes with looper inbuild in it?
Is there an option to use the rest of delay modes while looping?
I was wondering that too
No, you need the Grand Canyon.
Great demo! Great sounding pedal too. Been thinking about a second delay for the board. This may be it.
I think it's a great option as a second delay!
i love this video! gives me more ideas how to use my canyon delay! thank you for making this demo! awesome!!
You are welcome. I am glad it was helpful!
very helpful... there is alot or settings in this pedal. love it
how did you set up the 6:21?
To be honest, I: don't remember. It was the DMM delay type, and I am pretty sure the tap division was dotted eighth.
Ill figure it out. thank you
That loop demo would have Dave Gilmour tipping his hat. Well done. I'm moved. And stoned.
I gotta get me one of those pedals. I love the reverse and the shimmer settings which I'd use for more experimental music, plus a wah wah pedal. I love to make psychedelic music.
This is a good one for psychedelic for sure.
Awesome tones! I just picked up mine two days ago absolutely love it! EHX CANYON > TC flashback in my opinion
Glad you are loving the Canyon!!
Oh, I hoped that you review this Pedal since I'm planning to buy one as well. Am just kinda late, I guess. Great Video.
Great demo! I love the octave mode. :)
any chance for a deep dive into how the secondary function truly work?
looking forward to you reviewing the EHX "Grand Canyon Echo" Bill......looks pretty sweet and a little more user friendly..
You made this sound amazing! I'm researching delay pedals now and really like the echo type tape emulation ones. I also think having reverb in the same pedal would be cool so this has really piqued my interest. Thank you for such a lovely demo. I sort of got lost in your playing at times :-)
Thanks very much! If you could use stereo and have a little more budget, the Grand Canyon is even better. I demoed that recently...
Thanks
Definitely check out the TC Electronic Flashback 2. Same size, same price range, better sounding delays (IMO), a looper, TonePrints and stereo!
Really? I was figuring the canyon was supposedly better sounding, but given your knowledge of all kinds of delays, I’ll check that one out.
Thanks
Okay, you sold me. Great demo!
Good stuff man. Love your demos.
Can we use the looper with the effects? Or we can only use the looper without effects?
Sold!
(@2:42) BV: "Maybe you're modulating too, I don't know." Me: Always 😁
Outstanding review as always! How would you size this up vs Neunaber Immerse?
This is a delay and the Immerse is a reverb. They are 2 different "animals".
Chords Of Orion Got it - thank you!
I see EHX has a new version of this coming out called a Grand Canyon with more functionality.

Doing alot of Delay research; looking for a smaller footprint pedal with Tap Tempo or expandable Tap capable input. This Canyon seems awesome as it has some magic sounds in it... Would it function as a typical 'non psych' delay if parameters are dialed down?
Yes - you can use for more subtle delay effects.
Thanks for this, will be getting one of these, that shimmer is to 'die for' ;)
It is a nice shimmer for sure!
How was the noise floor on this pedal? I almost bought a Pitchfork because I loved how it handled polyphonics, but the noise floor was too high for me. Also, if EHX would add stereo to their pedals, that might be a deciding factor.
I would say that the noise floor is pretty decent. Not dead silent like a Strymon, but definitely not as noisy as the Pitchfork.
Which one is better? EHX Canyon or TC Electronic Flashback II?
If you need multiple types of delay and don't mind a mono pedal, the Canyon is a good choice. If you want stereo, then SMM for sure.
When you played verb mode, was that just the pedal?
Great demo, man! Thinking about getting one for my live ukulele gigs when i do instrumental compositions! How do you think it would sound with an electric ukulele?
I think it would sound great!
Thank you bro for an awesome demo I think I need to get it!!!!
Some comparison points:
1. Flashback stereo, Canyon mono
2. They both have loopers
3. Sub-division selections similar
4. Flashback has TonePrint slot to load custom delay settings
5. Canyon has secondary functions, Flashback not
6. Flashback more "pristine" sounding, Canyon funkier
7. Flashback up to 7 seconds delay, Canyon 3 (i think)
For me, the first decision point is mono vs.
