There's another wire going in the side of battery where the negative sign is that you didn't even mention 🤷🏽♂️ the battery does not come out by simply undoing positive and negative
positive and negative are the main ones plus the battery bracket. The black cable you talking about is for the discharge of the liquid. It probably ends back inside the car. Whether you put it in or not shouldn't change how the battery is performs.

Do you guys mean the vent tube? There is a little black rubber hose that vents any gas from the battery to atmosphere on my petrol 2014 SQ5 (usdm)
You didn't code the battery, as I can see its an aftermarket battery you replaced with.
