- Mudlarking along the River Thames in London. The excitement about mudlarking is that you just never know what you will find, but you can be sure that even if you just find a small button, there is a fascinating story behind it. Follow me on my Thames mudlarking adventure this Saturday in April 2017 and see what interesting and quirky treasures I find in the Thames mud. If you are interested in mudlarking then you can find out about obtaining a permit on the website of the Port of London Authority. And I'm happy to give advice so just email me on nicola.white@tidelineart.com www.pla.co.uk/...
I’m watching your older posts because I’ve watched all the recent ones. I find them so relaxing and restful. Thank you for your calm and cheerful manner. In these times of covid-19, your videos have been a wonderful escape from reality even in safe (relatively) NZ.
Thanks Ruth, glad you're enjoying them. I have a wonderful time making them. Sending love from here in London
1948, the year of my birth. LOVE your videos, your voice, your perspective on the items that you find. You bring joy to my life. Not that many people do so thanks, and I have also lived in N Carolina ..fun
Oh boy. Now I have to add "Mudlarking" to my list of obsessions along with my metal detecting. Wonderful finds. Your eyes are in excellent working condition. Thanks for taking us along. So glad I found you on this rainy cold day in the heartland USA.
I love how even the simplest things spark the imagination and conjure up a story. Great videos Nicola, thanks for sharing your work and your beautiful art.💕 😀 ( Also, there are birds of prey that are jealous of your eyesight 😁 )
Coming from Western Canada, where we don't have the depth of history in found artifacts that you do, mudlarking in the UK is definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for your videos!
thanks Greg. My pleasure.
Hello from Canada .What could more interesting than finding treasure every outing . My town Halifax , Nova Scotia . You are so lucky to be on the Thames , so much history to be unearthed from the mud . Love your presentation . I will tune in again . Daniel out .
dan horne thanks Dan! 😊
Wow tremendous pipe, great coins and a tiny head. Everyone finds headless lead horsemen, only you have they eye to find a horseless headman.

Another awesome video! Thank you for taking us with you! All the very best to you! Love the long stem pipe, what a treat to find, and right there in the open!!
Thank goodness you found that wonderful whole clay pipe. What luck! Love your glass fish, by the way!🐠🐟
My heart really jumped a bit when that Churchwarden pipe came into view, I am so happy for you Nicola!
I know. I could not, and still cannot believe it really. It was in a place that is very remote and so likely it was there for days being bleached by the sun. find in a lifetime really. I was very fortunate. Im worried Im going to break it!
nicola white
Most would have that appropriate worry, I would be done for the day and immediately walking it out as carefully as I could...which would cause me to break it of course, lol. I thought the onion bottle with the cork and possible shield on the neck was choice, and still do, but the pipe, oh my word, the pipe. AND you say it possibly was exposed for an extended time before you found it? Just glad it sorted out the way it did, and that we got to see you do what you do oh so well.
This is absolutely my favorite RUclips channel. I feel like I am actually there
Thank you Susannah! Glad you're enjoying. Thanks for watching and for the encouraging feedback. Nicola x
Enjoy your videos. Mudlarking looks like it's so much fun. Finding all those wonderful little bits and pieces of history. You have a fantastic sense of humour, finding the "fork" and then the little "Off". Ha ha ha! :-)
Happy treasure hunting!
Thanks. Im glad you appreciate my silly sense of humour :)
Very nice watching you explore your area. So nice you can get out safely and explore. I really enjoyed it.
Very "blingie"...liked this video very much because I see so much creative stuff you can do. Nicola, I love your sea glass fish...they are stunning creations. I hope one day to own one. You are the pipe and pipe stem Pied Piper!!! History of men and women unfolding before our eyes. I agree with you how much fun it is to try to imagine the individuals...thank you!
The first live round you found is a 7.62 NATO round as used in the FN-FAL rifle which was the standard service rifle in the British army from the '60's 'till the early 1980's. The second live round is a 9mm Parabellum, a very common pistol round. Lovely stuff!
Thanks Marc! Really useful. I need to get a bullet id book!
How could you possibly thumbs down this video?! Love, love, love these videos. Beautiful fish by the way.

You have the eye's of a hawk to spot that teeny tiny head. The fish are fantastic! I was wondering if you preserved them for all time & am very happy that they are on etsy.
Loved to see your latest video !!
Here in the Netherlands we can't do any mudlarking so it is always a pleasure watching your video .
As an American that now lives in Germany ...I have never heard it called Mudlarking before...I love it!!!
The blingy black button has to be the sharks eye in your next project Nicola 🦈🦈
CHRIS H good idea
I liked the video where you found the glass bottle with the word WHITE. I love the glass fish.
"Bear with me" ... hahaha I see what you did there.... Wonderful collection of mudlarking videos!
actually, believe it or not, that wasn't intentional:)
i could watch you do this for hours :) love your art too :)
Thank you!
Fascinating group of finds and lovely narration as well! The brooch is a sweet piece and the complete pipe a true beauty! Also a bucket-lister for me here in New England! Incredible the amount and diversity of objects on those shores, not to mention the age span... I too love creating narratives about the stories and characters behind the objects themselves... half the fun, and often quite moving to imagine. Glad to have found your videos and look forward to following along... Cheers, BB
BB_in_ Maine thank you. Yes it's fascinating imagining the story behind these finds. I truly love it.
Lovely finds! I especially like your fish you made of glass finds! Thanks for sharing! ~ Gypsy

Dave Birch you can buy these at Bolty Things R Us!
Hello, I have just started watching your videos and I like them very much. Your voice is very soothing, and your videos take me back to when I was a child and my dad and I would walk outside and look to see if the rain had uncovered any coins. My dad would often find coins and now I always look down and do the same. Thanks.
Great video again isn't it great to do research later.
Also fantastic fish you design very clever keep up the good work.👍😀
fantastic video... great knowledge.. found your channel a couple of weeks ago and watched all your previous videos so it was nice to see a new one tonight 👍

Fab hunt. I love finding pottery shards with marks that you can investigate. ATB Wendy
LOVE to watch your digs, hunts and finds
You had fun at least. Lovely to see you again girl. That was a French 5cent coin and yes a wingnut.
Thank you! I prefer to call it a bolty thing! :)
This one used for holding the wheel in on a racing bicycle. In your pics of that there was a piece of white china with a maker's mark on it....
I really like to watch your mudlarking & I love your Thames art ☺
So funny. Since I've been watching your videos I'm able to date the pipes before you tell us now! Lol
Wow, stunning complete pipe, well done! I've found many fragments while diving but never a whole pipe. The Thames glass fish are really neat. Really enjoy the vids.... each one makes me wish I could join in the fun! Cheers! Al
Thank you! glad you enjoy them. I love making them!
The clay pipe is an amazing find. That it was just laying there in perfect condition being that old. Almost as if it was just dropped moments before you happened upon it.
Nicola:
FYI most bullets that have been the water are inert. The gun powder will turn in to fertilizer. The primed on the end causes the powder to ignite also become inert with water.
I enjoy your Vlogs.

You must be super human with eyes like that. Quite amazing you were able to find that little soldiers head! Your new nick name is "Eagle Eye Nicola"!
I had to laugh at the 'fork off' comment - great vids, find them fascinating and relaxing at the same time. :-)
wow! I didn't know you were going to show your fish sculptures at the end. They are great!
Thank you!!
You are so creative!
Thank you! 😘
Hi Nicola!Great video as usual!the .303 rounds are standard for the ww2 timeframe and the small ones are 9 mm used in pistols and submachineguns you have to be wary with some of the .303 rounds as some had Incindiary Projectiles but treated with the necessary respect things will be fine!I love your videos!
I loved your video. First I have seen of them. Wish I could hunt on the foreshore at some point. I am from the US and travel to England each year to metal detect but have never mudlarked. Christy Pennsylvania, USA
This is one of the most enjoyable videos I have seen on RUclips in a long time. I just stumbled upon your channel and I'm so glad I did! We don't see many little goodies from the 18th Century here in California. I noticed at 1:25 ,when you were showing us the button, there was a metal ratchet click part for an old mechanical clock on the right side of the screen next to the large rock (it's that sort of parrot-shaped thing with the hole in the middle of it). Being an American, I was not familiar with the term mudlarking, but now I think it has become one of my favorite words. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Best of luck in the future~ Paul Alleeson Pine Mountain Club, California
Thank you. I will check out the metal ratchet in a while! may have to go and get it! glad you enjoy. Yes, mudlarking is fun. :)
I've been watching your videos for a while now but I finally subbed! I'd absolutely love to mudlark with you one day!
Rusty Halo Metal Detecting TM lets do it!
Very nice Young Nicola! Keep at it!! x
Thank you! try and stop me :)
Thank you for the great video. I was excited that it was over 20 mins long. I love watching your pipe extractions as well. I am over the moon that you found that pipe on the sand. You fully deserve it.
Hi there! Thank you for your lovely comments! I really appreciate that. And glad you like the extractions :) Yes, I am a big fan of those too. I have some more to post soon! thanks again. Nicola x

Throw the teddy bear in the washer and dryer, they actually wash up really well. I collect teddies, my prized possession is my princess Diana beanie baby, the large one and very collectable. Great video.
