When it comes to the money aspect of the sport there’s always some frustration. I feel like in order for athletes to get paid well without shoe sponsorship they would need to create a league. Viewership, Merchandising, Marketing, Advertising, Promoting, Fan engagement and ticket sales are some of the main reasons leagues such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, WNBA are able to pay athletes. Over the past years I feel track fans have increased and the sport has become more popular. Great energy good vybez, and stellar performances will always attract fans especially youth. I believe there is hope for athletes to make money even without the direct involvement of shoe sponsors. Businesses such as Banks, Car Brands, Clothing lines, and Food companies are also able to sponsor athletes. My knowledge about how contracts work with athletes is limited. I’m just making thoughtful theoretical solutions. Alot easier said than done but I truly feel things will get better in the future.

I believe Michael Johnson’s Track League is a step in the right direction. Podcast such as these are also wonderful ways to market the sport and increase fan engagement, and knowledge. 👍🏽Hopefully athletes continue to get more opportunities in the future. I believe that the Track League Michael Johnson has created has potential to develop into a traditional sports league similar to NBA and NFL. Far fetched statement but I feel the Track League has great potential for the athletes. Outside of Diamond league, World Champs and the Olympics.
