Elvis and frank met in the 70s too. Along with Bing Crosby and some others. There's pictures of this meeting on the Internet. Actually to come to think of it they met in the 60s as well. And there is a video of him and Frank, I think 1966 given out checks.

😂😂 you got me there, Nick!
    Love Elvis Sunday ♥️
Like you said, Sinatra was extremely disparaging about Rock n Roll in general. He was also quite blunt in saying it was not music sang by 'singers'..
Before he met Elvis, Sinatra said in 1957: "Only time will tell. They said I was a freak when I first hit, but I’m still around.
"Presley has no training at all. When he goes into something serious, a bigger kind of singing, we’ll find out IF he is a singer. He has a natural, animalistic talent."
To me, Elvis came out singing the slower ballad 'Fame And Fortune', to prove a point.
And boy did he prove it!
    What a performance ❤
    Fantastic Elvis Sunday!
    Happy New Year, Nick

I love this! I like Frank Sinatra music (always have) but when he screeches his way through the end of Love Me Tender it hurts my musical ear and wounds my musical soul... Elvis, on the other hand, sounds sublime. A great reaction Nick to a slice of historical musicology, and I love how you return Elvis'smile, just like the rest of us fans! Happy New Year to you and yours, roll on Elvis Sunday 2025!

Nice reaction from a nice and good person, I have seen this video dozens of times but this time I was curious to see your expressions and I'm glad you liked it. The smile, the blue eyes and THE VOICE Frank are history, but in these images, Elvis with his voice, hair, hands, seems like an angel on earth and in my heart.
Thanks Nick, even for the little scare at the beginning, but for a moment I believed it.

This is one of my favorite live performances of Elvis (well, on tv anyway). He's so joyful and not yet jaded by all the movie and Vegas stuff. I so wish he would have continued to do live performances rather than solely movies. Or at least do some of both evenly. But the Colonel convinced him the big money was in movies, period. Not that I don't love the movies, I surely do. But some live performances would have been great too during that time. By the way, Nancy Sinatra, Frank's daughter who you saw in that clip, starred with Elvis in his movie Speedway. And she also sang a song in that movie. I think Nancy Sinatra and Ann Margaret were the only women co-stars who sang in an Elvis picture.

I love this footage and am so happy that you got to watch and enjoy it too! You are right, this was definitely a special moment in history. Elvis was very respectful towards Frank and they did go on to become friends. Elvis was so young and beautiful, but nobody could deny his voice! I do wish that someone with the know how, would do something to preserve this special footage. I fear the quality is going to get worse and we will lose it eventually. Another wonderful reaction as usual, thank you. Have a very Happy & Healthy New Year!!

If you had the full show Elvis came out in his dress uniform. Wow! What a hunk he was. Frank took Elvis out for dinner after the show and actually liked Elvis. They were friends till Elvis passed. Eivis and Nancy did a movie together and Nancy gave Priscilla a babyshower. There are pictures of Elvis at Nancy Sinatra's show in Las Vegas in the early 70's. Frank called Elvis, who was admitted to the hospital in the late 70's, and told him to get off those drugs, but Elvis didn't listen to anyone. God bless them. They are both gone now. Thank you for watching the video and reacting. I love that video. Elvis forever!❤❤❤

Nick, you stole my thunder on how Elvis played it straight in the first song and let loose in the second (notice how his carefully coiffed hair was flying in all directions by the end of the second). Great seeing two of the greatest singers of all time together.
While Frank was very critical of Elvis in the beginning, by this time he had changed his ..."tune." Elvis' stint in the Army changed the opinions of a lot of the "older" generation for the better.
BTW: Nancy Sinatra and Elvis became good friends while working in the movie "Speedway" (there is a shot of Nancy in the crowd in ETTWIS).

Frank Sinatra's Love Me Tender doesn't hold a candle to Elvis. Frank was the 1st at having screaming girls, but it died down over time. Elvis was the 2nd. The screams for Elvis never died down. Frank sang with technique and precision, and he is a legend. Elvis sang with passion and soul and he's the GOAT.

I agree with your summing up of this performance, Nick. Personally, I don't think that Frank had really changed his opinion of rock'n'roll music and the singers who performed it (including Elvis, of course) in the 3 years since he made that statement. Notice how humble and respectful Elvis was when he was asked to comment on what Frank had said and he always stood up for his fans.
I really don't think that Frank was happy about having Elvis on his show, but had agreed to it because he knew it would give the show a boost in the ratings. Here's a quote taken from the Wikipedia page about the show: "For the special, originally titled Frank Sinatra's Welcome Home Party for Elvis Presley, he would receive $125,000, an unheard of sum at the time for a single television appearance. Sinatra was not pleased with Presley's fee, knowing full well this exceeded his compensation for hosting the entire program. He accepted, aware that a Presley appearance would attract huge ratings for the hour, something that his three previous specials had failed to do."
Understandably, he was not pleased about how this 'new' genre of music and singers were taking over in the popularity stakes from him and his contemporaries. One of those contemporaries, Bing Crosby, was less harsh in his comment when he was asked what he thought of Elvis in 1957, saying: "He’s going to be a very big star in a lot of fields, other than the one in rock and roll. He’s got an appealing personality. He’s a good-looking kid. He sings in tune and he’s got good rhythm. He just hasn’t developed enough voice yet to handle a ballad, but that will come. If he keeps yelling and screaming he’ll develop enough strength … He’s got a Peck’s bad boy look in him-a sly smile. Women like that." However, when he was asked again in 1975 what he thought of Elvis, he said: "He never contributed a damn thing to music. He was successful - hard to account for. Oh, he sings well enough, I suppose."
Elvis never thought of himself as better than other performers. In fact, when he was asked at a press conference in New York in 1972 before performing at Madison Square Gardens: "..... how do you feel about entertainers today? How do you feel about the way they perform?"; his reply was: "Oh, I don't know. I really can't criticise anybody in the entertainment field. I think there's room for everybody and I hate to criticise another performer, you know?" Humble as ever and that just one of the reasons why we still love him so much ❤
Sorry for rambling on for so long, Nick, I hadn't really intended to 😊 Thank you for another great Elvis reaction video and I would like to wish you and yours a happy and peaceful new year.

Elvis looked his best at this stage of life and he was practicing with Charlie Hodge different vocal sounds and challenging his range. Frank was great but he had a big ego and probably felt threatened by him. Elvis being the lover of women had a fling with Juliet Prowse Frank's fiance at the time on the set of GI blues right after this show. Juliet years later still loved talking about it.

Million Dollar Quartet. Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Mr. Carl Perkins. I love it. These guys singing gospel, especially Jerry Lee, master at Pentecostal Gospel. I’m not a believer but it reaches me I. Places that only music can. Elvis and Jerry just knew “where things went” in a gospel song. Souther gospel.

A reactor made an interesting comment re: Sinatra on "Witchcraft:" she said Sinatra's voice is pitch perfect (it was), he is louder than Elvis (he was) AND he was FLAT (absolutely!) Spot on! Sinatra accused Presley’s music of corrupting young people. “His kind of music is deplorable,” Sinatra said, “a rancid smelling aphrodisiac … it fosters almost universally negative and destructive directions in young people.” A reporter showed the article to Presley and asked him what he thought of Sinatra’s article. Elvis Presley responds: “I admire the man.” Presley said. “He has a right to say what he wants to say. He is a great success and a fine actor, but I think he shouldn’t have said it. He’s mistaken about this. This is a trend, just the same as he faced when he started years ago." Typical response from Elvis! He may have had different words away from the camera but never showed any anger or upset in front of it. Thanks & have a good week.
