    Yes, seeing bears in Finland is extremely rare. If you make any noise like snapping twigs or talk, the bear will be out of there long before you even realize there was a bear nearby in the first place. When camping though bears do like to eat your food, but you usually realize only after the night that a bear has visited your campsite. Bears are a lot less dangerous than people imagine, at least in Finland.

    • @SeanandEmily

      That’s comforting to know 😊, every noise we heard that night sounded like a bear lol but was probably a squirrel 😁 we actually hung our food from a tree just in case.

    Great video again guys. I'm looking forward to the next one. - There are approximately 168,000 larger (more than 500 square kilometers in size) lakes in Finland and countless smaller ones. In addition, over 75 percent of Finland's surface area is forests, more than any other country in Europe. So if your goal is to find a lake shore that is in the middle of a forest, it's not too difficult. 😊

    Nice ride through those sparsely populated areas. You were wondering why there wasn't a line for the polar circle. It's because it moves about 15 meters every year because of the wobbling of the axle of the Earth. In 41000 year cycle it moves about 250 kilometers back and forth. Two years ago when I stopped at the same spot with that three pole statue, I checked it and it was about 100 meters north from it.

Then after passing my Bike test i had a Suzuki SV1000s which i had for 5 years or so before changing to the R1200 GSA and then several years later we now have the R1250 GSA. The comfort in the Gs is incomparable to my past bikes, being able to ride all day everyday and still be able to walk at the end of the day is fantastic. Making a fire is illegal unless you get a permission of the landowner and if it is forest fire season it is illegal altogether.

    • @rustyspace900
      @rustyspace900 8 месяцев назад +3

      The laws around open fires in Finland are complicated, but still more relaxed than many other countries.
      If there is a forest fire warning, no open fires are allowed. Period.
      The flexibility to have open fires grows when reaching Lapland and Kainuu provinces, there you can have open fires in National parks / state owned lands. In private lands you should always have a permission from the land owner to have a fire, although you can still roam freely with the constitutional ''freedom to roam''-law.
      Down south most forests are privately owned and there are more restrictions where you can build a fire in the public lands too. There are a lot of ''official'' established firepits for anyone to use freely though.
