The first time I heard it, it sounded romantic and rather simple. It was when I watched a video where NASA put some Moon pictures in background while the piece played that I realised how deep it is, and has been my favourite since.
Debussy was inspired to write this song as he was on an airplane for the first time in one of the earlier days of aviation. He was experiencing the magic and the majesty of gliding through the air and over our beautiful plant with a childlike wonder and the mind of a mature artist. I think this song has brought peace to so many. It’s such a wonderful gift. 🥲 Also, can I just say this rendition on kalimba is amazing .
That's not true. Well, not totally. He was not not proud (if he was, he woulnd't have given it to Marie Vesnier, as it was a gift for her) but his first version needed some ajustement, because the metric diagram was not good, this one is the second, as he rewrite it after. He didn't had problem with it. La fille aux cheveux de lin, La mer and Danse profane are well know too, especially in the musical world, clair de lune is famous because it was used more in cinema industries ect for the romantic feeling of the song, it's pretty recent (as it was made for a girl, and inspired by Paul Verlaine's poems).

I bought a Moozica 36 key Kalimba (BKS 36-MA1) and its much quieter than the playing in this video, its pretty feeble sounding. Even though I read the hollow kalimbas are supposed to be louder. Is this louder than that model? The keys on the Moozica are so close together too I can hardly get my thumbs to play a single note. Also the outer smallest keys hardly play at all, so I wouldn't miss 34 instead of 36. IDK.
