  • A hexagon lute? I have no idea. But cheap and easy to make. Nylon strings make it easy to play, but less volume and tone than metal strings.

    This sounds actually quite good.

Very nice! You should consider making a whole bunch of them, gluing them together in a tiled plane, and creating a musical beehive of sorts. For the bees.

Anthony Karosas Hexagons make for useful tessellations, but the acoustics are odd. Plus, the instrument has very little sustain.

It looks way better than most diy experimental instruments people do. But it does seem if (by now 6 years or so ago) you just put a bit more polish and sharp cosmetic finish you could immediately multiply the ultimate impression and visual effect of the instrument. If you don’t care about meticulously finishing instruments then I am sure you care about the potential price it could sell for. That would add a lot.

Music from the Balkans to Iran is strikingly similar--in instrumentation, time and mode...

Guess we are ancient enemies then LOL.
I enjoy good music regardless of genre and ethnics.

I don't know the name of the song, but the it may be something like Η Ελένι ζωτοχήρα (in Greek). I tune it in 4ths and 5ths. D-A-D-A, highest to lowest

    Hi Slim. :)
I really like the sound of this instrument and do have the skills to make one. Could you please help me? Very useful details would be length, width and depths of neck, width and depth of body and thickness of woods used throughout ie ply, pine, spruce. Thanks in advance.

I don't have the measurements, but what really matters is the fret locations, which need to be calculated based on the distance between nut and bridge. The top is spruce, the rest is ply.

@@slimwillywilliams Ok no worries. I went ahead and ordered some wood, decided to change the type to red cedar body and neck and spruce top again. I am gona work to rthe body being 12" across and neck 18" long. Thanks for the inspiration.
