„But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And He took it and ate in their presence.“ Luke 24:41-43 He wasn’t but I believe in Jesus and the Bible. But the thing is, we eat animals as a result of the sinfall and the entrance of death in our creation. The day and hour Jesus returns and heals the world, we will stop killing and eating other members of the creation. Till than we should accept our fallen nature and still let us change by the Holy Spirit.
Although Jesus ate fish he didn’t need to eat anything. He was God. He ate and drank nothing in the wilderness. The point Tony is making is this. When there is other food to eat. You need to ask Jesus what he would do. What would Jesus want you to do I wonder? I think that is obvious. Meat may taste nice but so do delicious vegetables, nuts, oils, herbs, spices cooked and prepared. In fact nothing tastes as good as keeping an animal alive and free from suffering. Justice screams out on Gods Holy mountain for the suffering of animals. Therefore if you keep sinning before God the wages of intentional sin is death. Yes your body stays alive but your spirit within dies slowly and deliberately. God does not kill you. You do it to yourself.
@@tiagohenry5073 So first of all the Bible is not inerrant. This is one prime example of that. According to Matthew and Mark, Jesus told his disciples to meet him in GALILEE (on a HILL) after his resurrection. However, Luke has this first sighting in JERUSALEM in a HOUSE. So that should be our first tip-off something doesn't add up. Now, being a critically minded person, if I were going to discount one of the accounts for being inconsistent, which should we choose? First, I tend to believe in the 2 witness principle. I think it was meant for situations like this. Mark and Matthew say Jesus first appeared to his disciples in Galilee on a hill. Secondly, Luke (if tradition is accurate) was a traveling partner to Paul. There is no evidence Luke met any of the original disciples in person. So he probably assumed something like, "well, they used to be fishermen, purportedly went back to fishing, therefore they must have been eating fish".
@@harrrytoool1391 I don't think Jesus was God either. The Bible never states this and Jesus explicitly states he is not. You should look into the Ebionite/Essene beliefs. They all relate to our lust for animal flesh killing us.
It's not about what we eat, that makes us "Unclean", but rather What comes out of our mouths. Delve a little deeper, it's what is in our HEARTS !!!!!!!! And that is Jesus. None of us are perfect, but Jesus points us that way .
And for the record, yes we should all be heading towards being Vegan. I was a Vegetarian for 20 years, then Jesus moved in, and my compassion and empathy grew 1,000 times. On that day, I became a Vegan. It was the Logical progression. I just don't believe in bashing someone that is at least trying to make this world better. I thought overall this talk was very moving and powerful. I just wish Dr. Campolo would go all the way in his belief and not harm animals to the best of his abilities (i.e. go vegan). The other thing he said that I found somewhat disappointing was that he said only certain animals with a relationship to humans would be in heaven. Aside from heavenly eschatology possibly not being Biblical (speaks more of earthly resurrection), I would argue ALL animals (at least good ones, I would argue some animals have become evil too) go to heaven (or will be resurrected), irrespective of their relationship to humans. There are several passages that describe the heavenly kingdom being inhabited by animals.
@EdenicChristian The only part of your comment I DISAGREE with is your writing "some animals have become evil too" to go to Heaven! NO! Nonhuman Animals are incapable of evil, as they are incapable of sin! If any Human (Animal) says what you wrote about "some animals have become to evil," they are ignorant and/or in denial to the reality that it is always the fault of HUMANS !!!
@@stfrancisforanimals799 That may be. I am not saying it's necessarily their fault. Genesis 6 shows that all of creation became violent because of Mankind's transgression. To be honest, maybe I didn't word that correctly. I am not saying that fallen animals necessarily go to Hell. Just that there are clearly depictions of animals in Heaven.
@@edenicchristian335 So if you're saying it's *not* the nonhuman animal's fault when they are taunted to aggressor because of humans, they why did you write they wouldn't go to Heaven, as only the "good" one do? FYI: there are *no* nonhuman animals who are "bad" !!!
@@stfrancisforanimals799 Did the snake in the garden fall because of mankind? The Balaam's donkey choose to be good and follow God? To deny animals have moral agency is to deny scripture. So sorry he still eats meat .... he seems to get the picture 99.9% just the one percent needed to have it all i.e. STOP EATING MEAT AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS ALL TOGETHER and so REALLY PROVE = HIS LOVE FOR GOD AND HIS CREATION. Animal world in which we are part of it. Find it interested in tge prayer. First time to hear such a prayer.
