This reminded me just how bad the old clouds looked
The feeling of disgust at the clouds is almost nostalgic
Actually on high graphic settings clouds looks very well. But those clouds need too much resourses, so usually turn quality off.

This plane helped me grind out all of rank 3 and 4 for Japan. It has a special place in my heart.

@@derekkudcs2816 thats the point people dont turnfight japan anymore only a few dumb pilots try to turnfight japananese planes most of the kills you will get gonna be agaisnt slow enemies or enimies that are already on a turnfight "since japam and usa get in the same side and bf-109 turnfight p-51 everytime you can get some kill but most of the time you just gonna steal the p-51 kill because experienced players dont use the p-51 as turnfighter

some planes you gotta spend time side climbing to get the altitude for clubbing, j2m2 just climbs like a rocket and can instantly get into the fight

I had a bad time drinding tier IV with it. I didn't like any tier III half as much as this one!
Well then buy the J2M3 or J2M5, if your aim is godlike buy the J2M5 30mm, its rank 4 and has much better performance, at the cost of .4 higher BR than J2M2.
It has worse performance than both the m2 and m3

@@theoneandonlyartyom I’m not the one you asked, but I want to give my ten cents. In my opinion, Yes. While the ki-43 is extremely maneuverable, and it’s guns can obliterate, it’s climb rate is quite a bit worse, overheats faster, is easily out energied, compresses even at 350, specifically the rudder which makes aiming impossible, has an lower rip speed, and is pretty much the equivalent of a plane made with wood and covered in Kerosene.
All the weaknesses of the J2M2 (It’s g pulling, turning, meh dive speed, and meh role rate are made up for by its altitude, guns, and energy retention. Maybe it’s just personal preference, but it’s also my experience. I’m on console with a controller so I’m not able to defensive fight well, but energy fighting is easy if I have the right plane. The J2M2 is that plane.

Hey DEFYN, just a comment of appreciation towards your work, i've learned a lot from your videos and i just want to somewhat send you the message that your videos are extremely helpful in my case and i can imagine for many others too, even though you dont need a random sub to tell you that but as i said i just wanted to tell you this because i feel obligated in some way as your work made me a better pilot, keep up the great work man, you definitely merit more recognition but it is what it is, have a good day!
It seems pretty fast for a Japanese plane especially at low alt. At sea level it's faster than N1K2s. That speed difference vs other japanese planes can really make running away from it so much tougher.

The J2M3 (in tech tree) is probably the most noobfriendly prop in the higher tiers. It has little bit worse performance, which is still more then enough but this little thing has a pile of ammo hidden somewhere inside.
it is the ultimate Bf-109 killer, 109s will happily go vertical and turn with it.
I am a 109 G6 pilot trying to counter J2m2... What can you do? 3 battles now, I can't realistically outpace it on the deck, can't really turn or use my vertical retention, and absolutely can't climb against it. what do you do?
@@brodyroper8288 Not much you can do apart from either running away from them if they're above you or 2v1-ing them tbh. I'm a j2m2 pilot and continuously club 109s whenever they engage me. Being at an energy advantage in a 109 kinda helps if you don't follow the j2m in the split-s (you'll get lured into a reversal if you do and that's how I club most 109s) and just go straight, but then again they can just regain their lost altitude rapidly and become slightly higher than you for they climb so well.

@@brodyroper8288 The game is not balanced at all. Want to know the real secret to doing well in War Thunder? Play the best plane at the BR. 4.3 it's the J2M2 hands down, not even close, but there is a better plane at 4.0 called "XP-50" that beats pretty much anything in the vertical, and has an air spawn.
Some planes just have no counter play.
The only counter is a coordinated team. When I played the j2m the only time I died was when the enemy team side climbed far above us. Japanese teams, especially the pilots, are not very smart so a good American squad could probably dismantle a few rouge j2ms

Oh, so THIS is the plane I faced in my 109 K-4 yesterday! I saw it’s radial engine and tried to out climb it like I did the Jug and Fw 190, but this thing not only kept up with my climb, it is gaining on me, a K-4!
I remember panicking in chat, asking around for what plane it is and what weakness it has it as it gained on my by the minute.
Now it turns out all I needed to do was to level out and out run him -_-
That was probably another J2M, there are some at 5.7, like the K-4.
Just researched this plane, didn't know squat but new looking at it something was going to make me happy. Test flew it and loved how it handled, now thanks to this vid of yours I know I'm going to love this thing possible more then my zero and I love those planes.
The j2m2 isn't that slow. It can go about 550 at the deck and 650 at 5500 meters. For example things like Spitfire mk IXs and G.55s a lot slower at low alt.
The J2M is a joke XD, If you are low speed in a dogfight just go straight for a second and you will gain 200kph.
He isn't just a good pilot, he's also a good commenter.

love the j2ms so much brang out the best i have ever played baring in mind i have completed america germany and england. i have every j2m in the game there amazing deffo recemmend grinding for it

I feel like this kind of plane (this one, the ki 43 III...) is pretty OP. When it has less energy than you, it can simply dodge and wait for you to loose your energy ; if it has the same amount of energy, it will kill you easily in a dogfight and you won't really be able to flee because if you do, he just has to climb on your six to get more energy than you with its massive climb rate ; if he has more energy than you, good bye...
Well, what about you mention the XP-50 as well? Cuz it does the same thing better.

Awesome gameplay as usual! Looking at those dogfights, I'd need to learn some more throttle control. Are there any simple rules of thumb when to cut throttle in a dogfight, and when to avoid doing it?
learn to use the flaps, when your plane climbs and has no more power for a loop activate the landing flaps and try to enter the enemy's 6 o'clock.
Another tip is: Lower the thr to 85 75 when at high speed, it will make you turn better
If you play on Ps4, there is a RUclips channel with videos of War Thunder teaching how to play on the controller, the settings in the video will make you use the loop without any problems.

The j2m5(30mm) is an absolute blast, the Japanese 30s are great esp at 4.7 and it's basically clubbing the thing is a freaking helicopter

i would totally play this thing more if i didnt need to be rank 3 to do all my tasks. There are a ton of rank2 and lower planes that I just kinda never get to because im trying to work on the battlepass in the background

when I first flew this thing spaded my first thought genuinely was “how is this legal”
Now only if this plane had been moved to the next rank, everything would be perfect
no... its slow and has poor acceleration, it is where it should be. its guns are not great and it has little armor protection

The J2M2 is great, but why the J2M3 isn't exactly a direct upgrade? I feel like the M3 is worse than the M2 due to its poor acceleration and slow firing guns. Any tips on how to fly it?
Stay higher, the M3 and M5 are optimized for high altitude.

It's a Japanese xp50, I really love this plane probably more than the Ki61. In this thing, I can 1v3 planes pretty easy
It’s better than the xp-50 in my opinion. This thing is undeniable close to the best 4.3 plane. It has better compression than the xp-50. Turns a little worse, but it’s energy retention is a little better. It’s climb rate is definitely better since the xp-50 has an air spawn, but the J2m2 can easily reach their altitude without air spawn. Its guns are a little easier to use I imagine. It’s roll rate is better. It’s a little less forgiving, but overall better in my opinion. Too bad I never face xp-50s.

J2m2 is like not premium pyorrremyrsky . Climb like maniac, have nice flight model and terrible handling for high speeds. Much better than 3.7- 4.3 a6m if u know how to energy fight.
