Neat stuff! When my grandfather died at 92 in 1989, he still had the wrenches for his 1927 Packard. As for Kendall Motor Oil, the Olds dealer in my hometown used it exclusively in its service department. In 1996, I bought a 1985 Olds 98 that had always had only Kendall in its crankcase, and I continued the tradition, more out of fear than out of loyalty! I knew both of the car's previous owners. The first owner was a longtime neighbor, and the second owner (who sold it to me) was the service writer for the Olds dealer.

In the day, we had brand loyalty and respected the word of our mentors ... or else! Thanks for sharing such a slick story, Tom. I remember both Pennsoil and Kendell were products of PA and have a rich history, so ... kendallmotoroil.com/our-history/

The old hammers are interesting. Unfortunately, I need one for newer cars...so I need a metric hammer!

Is that first tool you couldn't identify a battery terminal spreader? I have one in my tool box, that I bought in the late '70s. We used them in BOCES Automotive shop class, and I bought one at a tool sale, and I don't think I ever have used it.

Great quess, William. The battery terminal spreader would need to be smaller between the " teeth " when closed. I still have mine, too!!!! I can not remember when I last used it either!!

.....and not a PET bottle or jar in sight. From metal cans we moved to glass for oil which reminds me of the time I was changing bays at the gas station at night and knocked over an A frame stand full of glass bottles of said product!...ahem..perhaps not my best moment, I said sorry while the attendant just looked at it and I drove off.

We went from glass to metal in the US, avoiding such an oil spill on the level of the Exxon Valdez like yours!!! 😆😂😆
