When I was in the 82nd, they’d recruit us as well. Lots of paratroopers attend Delta selection. A sergeant in my company got an invite via letter and our platoon sergeant failed selection and was invited to return. I remember him preparing by doing lots of ruck marches whenever he had a chance. BTW, Chris VanSant, a former Delta operator, went to Delta selection when he was in the 82nd. As an aside, the Delta compound is just down the road. Selection is in WV, but the unit is down the road from the 82nd.

Of all the military special Force units that are mentioned, almost no one ever gives a shout out to Air Force Recon. Now, I know it's the Air Force but believe me, those guys are hardcore AF. Perhaps even a little more so considering that they are some of the most important units in our military since we rely so heavily on air power. Their primary objective is to scout out territory for landings or makeshift airports but they are certainly not limited to those tasks.

The Army SF units are the 19th and 20th SF which have members in different states around the country . But the 20th is AL NG and the 19th is is WV NG if I'm not mistaken. I know they were in the 90's but they both got activated for GWOT then deactivated after back to NG units so it could have changed.

Delta are like HOF football players that can still play have their own team. Delta guys are unbelievable. Supposedly, most of these guys are Navy Seal Team Six and are also made up of a lot of Green Berets. This guy is true badass.

I was Air Force tier two from the 80s into the 90s. There is so much history and transitioning during that time, it was the best job in the USAF.
