Brings back amazing memories. Was checked out in a DA-20. Incredibly stable and burns 3 gph, which is amazing. Transitioning to a stick was easy as well. Love your energy.
Hi Bambi, This is an amazing plane Diamond DA- 40 flying from Locarno, Switzerland. The sky is amazing Bambi when you fly in the plane. You are my best pilot Bambi
Nice little plane with great view with that canopy. It must be as inexpensive a plane as you can get. It doesn't come with auto pilot or deicers. Due to its light weight it may be rough with turbulence, cross winds and stormy weather based on the videos I have seen. From what I have seen Beachcraft Bonanza seems to be the preferred plane. .
We swim???? Yep looking at you having fun in Switzerland it reminded me of a trip to the Munster gliding Club flying in a Jodel 1051M up the Grimsel pass. We spent 7 days at Munster and when it was my birthday the locals made me a cake in the shape of a plane. Yep Happy Days
Bit different to the old C152 I did my first solo in, back in '04. Lovely video, beautiful plane and excellent flying! My son will begin learning in a DA-40 in the future. Cheers and thanks from Sydney - Dave
Great to see you have fun in the mountains and a good choice to take a professional FI with you! 👍🏼 We flew several times out of Locarno, Lugano and Ambri, which is an amazing experience every single time. The weather out there is indeed quite challenging though, especially with the famous Föhn.
Loved the scenery...thanks Bambi again for the great demo ..I got to look at the Diamond aircraft in Oshkosh..nice looking aircraft and very efficient...what's next ? Maybe Cirrus vision jet 🤩😁🤩😁🛩
I admire you greatly, that you can fly. So beautyful. For me it is a big dream, but unfortunately it is too expensive for me. Enjoy it and all the best for you. Kind regards, Alex.
I love Switzerland. Sunny but cool, alpine is my favourite environment to be in plus fantastic mountains. I love hiking... and used to love trail running before I got fat... i did the Matterhorn Ultraks routes!
Hope you enjoyed in LSZL :) That’s my area and I do fly in DA40NG in Avilu (Lugano) and a caffe’ in Locarno is a nice stop before coming back to Lugano via Monteceneri ;-) Super friendly people, especially the folks at the C office. [edit] @pilotbambi Next time you’re around, I’m also a member of AeroClub Como, the oldest seaplane organisation in the world. Let me know you want to try a seaplane ;-)

Great video and great video editing skills. Blue skies from France. 🛩
Hello hello Pilot Bambi I appreciate your video it’s excellent . I have a question the fight instructor your flew with do you know what flight school he’s from ?
Mooi filmpje! Dit is echt mijn soort content. Dit heb ik zelf veel liever dan je vlog style filmpjes. Ieder z'n smaak, hé? Dank je voor het maken en delen, Rosita.
Great Video. I flew a DA40 with G1000 panel in Malta for a few years. Great aircraft and nice to fly something a little different from the normal things. Thanks for sharing
Question: I just got my IFR rating in a C172 G1000, I can do my commercial in a DA40NG with the G1000Nxi. Do you think it’s a long transition to learn to fly the DA40? How’s landing compared with the 172? I’m trying to decide if I should stick with the c172 or do my commercial I’m the Diamond. Thanks.
SEP will cover. However DA40, especially the NG, requires a lot of practice. It’’s quite fast compared to say Cessna 172 (which is the other one I fly) and it’s difficult to let it slow down. It sometimes behaves more like a liner rather than a SEP
Amazing video bamby, maybe sometime in the near future you will arrive in Romania ? I am affraid my country doesn't have any G.A but maybe you have better connections then me. I kinda want to start my people and have you same journey rather then paying all money in frnt(which I don t have ) to become an F.O in an airline. I kinda want aventures and G.A to build up hrs but first need to start my PPL :) Keep up the great work :*
The moment I lashed myself on DA40 I've lost most of my interest into any other small piston single engine. I'm affraid that if I'd try myself on DA62 or 42 it would be same for multi engines ;]
I did around 1000 hours instruction in the DA40, and it's such a fun little airplane! Not necessarily more utilitarian, but more fun to fly than the Cessna 172. Then I did another 1000 hours in the DA42, which is double the fun! I moved on from instructing before I had a chance to give the DA62 a ride.
It’s quite low actually, 650 ft. However downwind is at 2’000 ft if you have fixed gear. However, flying over lago maggiore at 6’000 and crossing the alps at 10’000 or 12’000 (max 30’!!!) is quite normal. It’s also challenging because Milan Malpensa is just around the corner.
@@gippa75 so he said below 1000ft AGL you land straight ahead? That seems a bit 'extreme'! I think if I was above 500ft and I had an engine failure I would still do a 180 and land downwind. Maybe the terrain doesn't suit this though. I also realise it is a training flight, so he is going to set conservative limits
@@alexanderbogander2671 Below 1000ft we land on water, same in Lugano. This is SOP. The area is very peculiar as there’s a lot of wind, I myself landed with G35kt and I also lost 1000ft for windshear during approach (luckily I approached at 4’000ft, nothing happened, just hit my head on the canopy). Also, locarno is full of houses as it’s a tourist area. Unless you’re very very very expert of the area and its winds, it’s safer if you land on water.
@@gippa75 thanks for the info! Yes if you have a G35kt tailwind, I wouldn't suggest landing! Thanks for clarifying though. I tow gliders in Scotland, and we have very limited options also, however we thankfully do not have many houses.
@@alexanderbogander2671 dunno about your area, but I also fly in the South-East (nearby Gatwick) on a DA40NG. Winds in the UK are also very challenging, but they're different from the alps. If you tow gliders, you have far more experience than me. Respect mate 😊
She can't see over the panel, but uses her "supergirl" x-ray vision to peer thru the panel and engine. Also, she has excellent situational awareness because vision is not blocked by floorboards, wing, or tail feathers. ha, ha.
I absolutely love the cockpit of the diamond da 40. And with the canopy opening instead of boring doors on the side makes it much cooler!
Diamond Aircraft are well designed and built in London,Ontario Canada. You were impressed Bambi

Same here. Soloed in a DA20. Loved that plane. I miss it.

Glad you’ve appreciated my wonderful region.
always enjoy your videos. You get to fly different aircraft and always have a smile on your face,
Swiss flying looks like a solid vibe.
Wow what a place….great detailed instruction
Amazing pictures. Beautifull. Spend 15 days in holidays few years ago. Beautifull site.

Another great video with spectacular views. Great job 👏
I love that plane! Hello from Phoenix Arizona. I have done a lot of flying around Arizona in the diamond star.
🔜 I’ll have it , I can’t wait. Da-40 🥰
Diamond DA40 Diamond Star!
Again and again thanks for showing the vids of your road-trip in that amasing country.

Thank you for sharing with us ! ... cant go down with the gyro but i must plan to take my paraglider to switzerland for some flights 🪂
You are so lucky to be able to fly in all these different places! Another great vid.

Great video. What an amazing aircraft. Looks like a sports car!
A super flight in a friendly aircraft with friends… what could be better?
One Pilot Bambi's vlog a day keeps the doctor away ! :o)
Awesome video yet again. And in my Msfs2020 preferred plane too 👍👌
good for you ,although I hate stick aircraft I prefer yoke's but its great you have the chance to try new aircraft
Nice one. I also landed there few yesrs ago.

It's a very stable aircraft. Was there any turbulence in the air?
Just Awsome young lady.
Awesome👍
Any chance for a DA 62 flight in the future? 😊
hey you were in switzerland. how cool is that!!M

Yep. Not a Cessna. :-) Very cool video. Maurits seems like an excellent flight instructor.
You life your dreams!!!
Nice one! 👍🏻
Wat cool. Ik heb zelf ook aan zweefvliegen gedaan, waar zou je aanraden om je PPL te halen? Kosten technisch gezien.
love it!!!
Really like your videos!
Hope someday I'll get the chance to fly!
Welcome in Switzerland LSZB
No synthetic vision on the PFD or did you purposely have it turned off?
Show!!!!!! Bambi!!!!!
Does it really need so much flap to take off from paved runway?
Beautiful country. Wonder how the diamond matches up with the Sling 4 or visa versa?
The Diamond is safer before and during a crash.

Nice touch of a double meaning and yep those mountains are beautiful but just like a beautiful woman dangerous.

Why using "Sheriff" for the phonetic of "S" instead of the ICAO standard of "Sierra"?
I believe she is saying Sierra, just with a different pronunciation, so it sounds like "Sherra".

omg you're beautiful. Fly to New York.
Did you get out of south africa? is it still a mess downthere?
nice :))

So early watching this video, that switzerland is still spelled wrong. No seriously though, love your videos as always.

Lekker!
Looks like a awesome place to fly during the day but would give most people anxiety flying through the mountains at night
It would be fun flying a glider in the mountains. :-)
There is a glider club in Locarno. RW 26L is reserved only for gliders. Flying from LSZL in a glider is fantastic.
As cool as a cucumber🥒
