- Cardinal Robert Prevost, an American missionary who spent his career ministering in Peru and leads the Vatican’s powerful office of bishops, was elected the first American pope in the 2,000-year history of the Catholic Church. Prevost, 69, took the name Leo XIV.
White smoke poured out of the Sistine Chapel chimney Thursday at 6:07 p.m. local time, signaling that a pontiff had been elected to lead the Catholic Church.

@@grace-d9f9l Of course ! I always extend greetings to and wish my fellow christians nothing but the best regardless of the denomination they choose to follow.. And I do the same with everyone else. I was raised in a Catholic household were everyone, that includes the clergy, always insisted that we are all equals as humans and we should all respect each other. Regardless of where we are from and what we believe.

Please pray for our new pope. This is an extremely difficult choice, a heavy responsibility in this vulnerable and unstable world and time that we live in. We need to have faith to keep our thinly-veiled peace and fight the darkness from consuming us. He's a missionary so I hope he will preach and convert more to serve Christ and be one as Catholics and Christians. Our prayers to our new pope. Love and Peace will prevail.🙏🏽

@@MicheleDickson-tt2ugmany Popes said that throughout history they even advocated for the freedom and abolishment of slavery but most of them got rejected ignored and even threatened by kings, aristocrats and slavers, Pope Francis condemned wars many times but he got ignored by world leaders because the Catholic Church is no longer powerful and influencial.... back in the day Popes can actually make and break kings that don't follow their commands.
