One of the philosophies that I have about cocktail-making is that fresh and seasonal ingredients (and delicate glassware :P) will always make a drink's experience more fun. I also believe that most of the brightly-colored cocktails are formulated for appearance over taste. Because of this philosophy, I generally stay away from vibrantly-hued cocktails because most bright colors are a signal that the cocktail is one of those really gross, super sugary drinks that has no dimension or interesting qualities. But there are some surprising ingredients out there that test my philosophy.
    .
I am super excited to have partnered with @EmpressGin1908, the original, all-natural, color-changing gin. (It changes from indigo to a soft pink when you add citrus or tonic!) Made by Victoria Distillers in British Columbia, Empress 1908 Indigo Gin uses 8 all-natural botanicals: Juniper, rose, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, ginger root, cinnamon bark and the Fairmont Empress Blend Tea. Its trademark color is all-natural and comes from an infusion of butterfly pea blossoms. I made a video of a cocktail I created using #Empress1908 to show how the colors change! Also watch to see Sean's roof garden bartender skills. :P #LiveColorfully and enjoy responsibly. izea.it/aCnd5Pb
