Hi Sarah...I just got into my tiny house right before Thanksgiving. We started in June. It was mostly on weekends when my son was off and whichever grandkids wanted to help! He drew up the best plans and I have the most adorable tiny house!!! Glad you and Jake are settled. Merry Christmas !

Congratulations! Finding and settling in your forever home is a long process but so satisfying once achieved. Love that background!

We did a new build but with a private builder. I definitely had decision fatigue towards the end of the project as there are lots more details to have to choose than with a corporate builder. I designed our house, so it was cool to see it become a realization. Buying an existing home is definitely easier. Pros and cons, as you stated. I'm so glad you're enjoying and are so excited about your new home.

I can imagine the decision fatigue in that case! So glad for you guys and I'm sure so worth it in the end! Thank you!

Very informative! I got to experience the process in a stress-free way when my parents bought a newly constructed home and even got to select the countertop, flooring, and paint colour in what was going to be my bathroom. It was fun for me but not so fun for my parents when they had to deal with some post construction issues like screws popping back through the drywall, which of course required a lot of patching and repainting.

It is probably quite interesting experiencing it from that perspective! I'm sorry they had to deal with those post construction issues. Our builder told us that it can happen, but they can come fix those for free as part of the builder warranty.

Curious to your decision process on a size for the home. 3200 squads feet is quite large. What do you plan to fill the home with?

It is a large increase! We have started trying for kids, and hope to have three kids, so that is the biggest reason, and there are three additional bedrooms ready (though we are using one for guests at this time). Since we both work from home, it's also been helpful to have dedicated office spaces.
