  • 1965 Dodge Dart Junkyard Find. Well as the thumbnail says, its been a while. Haven't seen any Mopars in the yards in a while. This little 65 4 door dart was up and running all the way to the scene of the accident. It took a nasty little hit up front. I took a look underneath and appeared to have rebuilt recently. Can only wonder as to how it all went down.

Such a shame to see a classic dart in the junkyard. At least this one has a good reason to be here. My dad had a 65 dart a long time ago. Has alot of good hard to find parts on it.

There are some one year only parts on those cars. That was the first year Chrysler used a column shift for its Torqueflite automatic transmission after using push buttons for several years. This year only the shift lever operated using a cable like the old push buttons did but in 1966 Chrysler switched to a rod linkage. The front end and the tail lights were reworked for the 1966 model as well.

Looks like they were gettin' her back in shape when she took a hard hit. I seriously hope no alcohol is involved, we've already seen that with Jay Smart's video with the 65 Ford F100. People who drink & drive shouldn't even have classics... or any car in that matter.
I bet that decklid and those taillights especially would command a decent price, especially the odd looking circular emblem at the front!
God I love the small 4 doors. I always picture these parked at church on Sundays. ^^
It's like the Falcon, which by the way the Falcon I mentioned on Craigslist is still available. ^^ Dropped the price from $9k to $7900.

Hay bo man I done some homework and I found out that hood ornament is a pretty valuable little piece to have is put on a 65 Dodge Dart is an anniversary emblem replace the 64 there's one time produced emblem so it's very sought-after the OEM number is 244-9713 remind understanding it goes anywhere from a hundred to $500 depending on the condition just want to let you know great video

Whoa Nelley, that was a hard hit. Looks like it hit another vehicle, possibly an SUV or something high up. Yup, I'm sure the driver went to the hospital there. I like where it says "Type of Loss: Collision". Pretty obvious, but they have to fill it in.
The VIN should be 2 for Slant 6 Dart, 1 for Dart 170, 5 for 1965, 7 for St. Louis, MO assembly, and the last six are the production sequence.
Trim tag is SO (planned delivery date) of 5/13/65, Number is supposed to be the production sequence, L13 is four door Dart, L1B trim is blue (which it still is), WW1 paint is white, but probably a combination of upper and lower paint or accent trim. So, it seems to be original as built.
Perhaps this driver was related to the driver of the Pontiac T-37 you did recently which had a similar front end hit. This was a pretty solid original car before the collision. Shame, but hopefully it can donate some very good parts to another project.
Yes, UTG would very much approve....

The relay may have come out of the red auto parts box on the floor. That company is located in Long Island City (Queens) NY. Looks like perhaps a starter relay, tough to tell.

I remember these when I was a kid. Almost every time I saw one go by, all you could see was 8 fingers and blue hair. All kidding aside, my godfather had one just like this till a couple of years ago, I think his son has it now.

Everyone's grandparents or an uncle/aunt had one of these, I know my uncle did. These engines were unbeatable. They ran forever. You have to hand it to Chrysler. The mechanical simplicity of these engines is second to none.

There is an old lady here in Fresno that has a 2 door hard top Dart. She is almost the 8 fingers blue hair., Her hair is like a bright rust color. Haven't seen her driving for a few months now but have seen her driving it down Shaw Ave in Fresno for the past thirty years. Her car must be a factory A/C car too because I see her with the windows up and its 105 degrees outside.

That frame rail didn't look horrible...I know this could have been repaired...someone needs to start a company buying these before the insurance takes them, get some salvage titles, and sell them as parts or restore depending on the damage, but there is nothing here a good ole welder couldn't fix...lol...If someone were to offer a higher buy option than the insurance companies allow for buy back, they could make a killing.
