- 1965 Dodge Dart Junkyard Find. Well as the thumbnail says, its been a while. Haven't seen any Mopars in the yards in a while. This little 65 4 door dart was up and running all the way to the scene of the accident. It took a nasty little hit up front. I took a look underneath and appeared to have rebuilt recently. Can only wonder as to how it all went down.
Why couldn't it have been a new dart not a classic
Lol i agree.
you should get the hood ornament they're extremely rare
I thought about it but didn't bring any tools with me
Maybe you could go back and it's still there if you want worth your trip
@@marktellez9719 honestly i wanted it because it survived the hit
Amazing how rust free it is. Too bad the brakes were not fixed.. maybe it would not have wrecked lol
Shame....that looked like it was a solid little runner before the accident! I would have dailyed it!
Such a shame to see a classic dart in the junkyard. At least this one has a good reason to be here. My dad had a 65 dart a long time ago. Has alot of good hard to find parts on it.
There are some one year only parts on those cars. That was the first year Chrysler used a column shift for its Torqueflite automatic transmission after using push buttons for several years. This year only the shift lever operated using a cable like the old push buttons did but in 1966 Chrysler switched to a rod linkage. The front end and the tail lights were reworked for the 1966 model as well.
Looks like they were gettin' her back in shape when she took a hard hit. I seriously hope no alcohol is involved, we've already seen that with Jay Smart's video with the 65 Ford F100. People who drink & drive shouldn't even have classics... or any car in that matter.
I bet that decklid and those taillights especially would command a decent price, especially the odd looking circular emblem at the front!
God I love the small 4 doors. I always picture these parked at church on Sundays. ^^
It's like the Falcon, which by the way the Falcon I mentioned on Craigslist is still available. ^^ Dropped the price from $9k to $7900.
Hay bo man I done some homework and I found out that hood ornament is a pretty valuable little piece to have is put on a 65 Dodge Dart is an anniversary emblem replace the 64 there's one time produced emblem so it's very sought-after the OEM number is 244-9713 remind understanding it goes anywhere from a hundred to $500 depending on the condition just want to let you know great video
Whoa Nelley, that was a hard hit. Looks like it hit another vehicle, possibly an SUV or something high up. Yup, I'm sure the driver went to the hospital there. I like where it says "Type of Loss: Collision". Pretty obvious, but they have to fill it in.
The VIN should be 2 for Slant 6 Dart, 1 for Dart 170, 5 for 1965, 7 for St. Louis, MO assembly, and the last six are the production sequence.
Trim tag is SO (planned delivery date) of 5/13/65, Number is supposed to be the production sequence, L13 is four door Dart, L1B trim is blue (which it still is), WW1 paint is white, but probably a combination of upper and lower paint or accent trim. So, it seems to be original as built.
Perhaps this driver was related to the driver of the Pontiac T-37 you did recently which had a similar front end hit. This was a pretty solid original car before the collision. Shame, but hopefully it can donate some very good parts to another project.
Yes, UTG would very much approve....
The relay may have come out of the red auto parts box on the floor. That company is located in Long Island City (Queens) NY. Looks like perhaps a starter relay, tough to tell.
I remember these when I was a kid. Almost every time I saw one go by, all you could see was 8 fingers and blue hair. All kidding aside, my godfather had one just like this till a couple of years ago, I think his son has it now.
Everyone's grandparents or an uncle/aunt had one of these, I know my uncle did. These engines were unbeatable. They ran forever. You have to hand it to Chrysler. The mechanical simplicity of these engines is second to none.
@@googleusergp actually he was still taking it to shows till 2 years ago when he passed away.
@@southernfriedhippie I took a walk this morning and in my neighborhood, there was a 1967 Firebird convertible under a cover (on the way back no cover). I took a quick look at the VIN and it appeared to have been a V8 originally, assembled in Lordstown. It looked like it had gone through a lot. LOL.
@@southernfriedhippie Sounds like a great car with a lot of history.
There is an old lady here in Fresno that has a 2 door hard top Dart. She is almost the 8 fingers blue hair., Her hair is like a bright rust color. Haven't seen her driving for a few months now but have seen her driving it down Shaw Ave in Fresno for the past thirty years. Her car must be a factory A/C car too because I see her with the windows up and its 105 degrees outside.
Ouch. She was solid too
Kinda makes you thankful that we've come a long way when it pertains to airbags and safety features.
I daily drive one exactly like this. Drove a 68 Fury before that. Both with manual drum brakes. The secret is following distance and paying attention to the road ahead of you.
shame man all these years and meet demise now, deer hit my 65 mustang 3 yrs ago and atang was total loss
Slant six only weakness is the oil pump, otherwise indestructible.
1st thing i thought of when i seen this video on my watch list,, UNCLE TONYS GARAGE. im loving your junkyard finds mate. Thumbs up from Perth W.A
Appreciate it! I am fan Uncle Tony as well. I think i mentioned him in the video
@@ClassicRideSociety you did eh. Im Lee. Whats your name amigo?
The name's Benny
Uncle Tony is a Mopar wizard, the man's knowledge is unbelievable.
@@joeford860 and a cunny funt to boot.
That frame rail didn't look horrible...I know this could have been repaired...someone needs to start a company buying these before the insurance takes them, get some salvage titles, and sell them as parts or restore depending on the damage, but there is nothing here a good ole welder couldn't fix...lol...If someone were to offer a higher buy option than the insurance companies allow for buy back, they could make a killing.
Considering the impact body held up extremely well! If it had 3 point shoulder belts back then could easily walk away with no injuries..
man i need them taillights and some other parts off that
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure its been crushed by now
Had a 73 Plymouth with a slant 6. In 175.000 plus miles the only thing I had to do to it was replace the oil sending unit. The body rotten off it but you could not kill the motor
M
Very sad to see.this hopefully it will donate parts for other dodges etc
I don't think I've felt so bad for a car but this takes the Cake..I have a soft spot for these! I'd try to get those dog dish wheels and emblems if I were u, I love the dodge font on the hood especially. But damn the driver probably had a headache for a few days..or weeks .
Looking at the windshield and steering wheel all smashed up and bent that hurt
It was almost a clean car too I’d take them bib caps and stick them on something they look cool
HI BENNY __ THIS FRONT END LOOKS LIKE FROM THE MOVIE CHRISTINE ,, BUT I DONT THINK IT WILL COME BACK...THX.
I believe the older cars are better than the new cars I hate to see classic cars in the junkyard.😯😮😲😢
I ❤ the Styling of this Vehicle, We had one when I was a kid 😊
Maybe if they had put those brake parts on it may have not got into an accident.
Looks like a fairly safe car to own if you wear your seat belt though.
Makes
Me
Sick
Seeing
Classics
In
The
Bone
Yard
Pull the Rear out, automatics had a
3:23 gear set, the 3 spds had 3:55s !
Lol I had a feeling that was why that was on the trunk lid, to hold it down.
En Argentina se los conoció por valiant 2 y 3 no dodge casi todos blancos 👍
Hard hit.sad.
💪✌
Don’t get why people need to crash these old cars
Where that car Located and what junkyard because that car looks like the one I sold long time ago does it haven pearl white on it bro
It was at pick n pull in West Dallas TX. Unfortunately, that junkyard closed down
First year for colom shift auto.
This brings back memories. I had a black 2dr with a 273 v8 hyper Pac. Mine was done up under the hood. These care with drum brakes don't stop well so I converted to disc brakes. They didn't get much recognition but they were fast for what they were.
I have one as a daily driver. Same year. White 4 door red interior. 225 slant six. Good little car. Good on them doing the suspension. I did suspension on a 68 Fury and it was a job getting the lower control arm out.
Where can I locate that car what junkyard that color white pearl bro
It was at pick n pull in West Dallas TX. But its been crushed.
I own a 66 Dart four door almost identical to this one.I'd love to find a parts car like this one to purchase, but Dallas is a bit too far from NE Alabama to haul on a trailer, lol.
FOUR-DOORs RULE!!!
The instrument cluster/panel looks in decent shape from what I could see.
I could sure use that back window if you still have the car ??
That one is long gone. It was crushed. That particular junkyard has been closed down as well
@@ClassicRideSociety Thank you for letting me know ...
My partner at work would be in tears 😭 he loves these cars
Even that hard of a hit the doors still open 👍
Another example where it's worth more in parts than as a whole car. Unfortunate but true.
Someone cared enough to invest some money in her. Bet it must hsve sucked for the owner to see it end up like this
You sure do run across a lot of the old classics! I hear tell that's the early 1960s Dodge Darts are extremely rare finds, I believe the 1965 GT is the rarest and hardest to find. Thanks for sharing your adventures with your subscribers...
They just keep showing up in these yards around here. I'm originally from Florida. Old rides hardly ever came into the yards over there. And I would go to a bunch of them.
Does it have the hipo 273!!!!!!!!
still hoping to see a 71 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
Haven't found a 71 cutlass Supreme yet but I did find this 71 cutlass ruclips.net/video/VtGJ6eEn2Og/видео.html
Weren't all the darts crap new and old
Just the new ones are junk.
You cant kill those slant sixes
