    Love to know more people plan their wardrobe ✨️ I use the A Closet app and it has changed my life! You can upload all your clothes (it didn't took me that long) if i didn't like the picture I saved something similar from the internet and I think what I love the most is being able to see all my clothes in one place because I used to buy so many things that I never wore and used to be so indecisive about what to wear, you can save ideas and see ideas from other users, it also gives you statistics of the cost of the item per wear and it really is satisfying to see it go down with each wear that you give it, hope this helps someone ❤

    Great practical ideas Emma. I think we get much better at finding our authentic style with thought, practice and planning. In my 50s I've re discovered my love of black ( last worn as a goth in the 80s 😂) I just feel relaxed, comfortable and grounded in it and it's a great contrast with my silver hair with its edgy vibe... although it took me much experimenting to get back to what I really liked! I love re wearing outfits and like you going through my wardrobe and putting things together in different ways, layering light textured pieces over fine knits along with layers of fine gold jewellery is something I find keeps me interested in my wardrobe as possibilities are endless! ❤

    I love the wish list idea, unfortunately when you have to shop on the high street, most things go out of stock in a couple of days and then you miss out! I plan my wardrobe in an app and do a list of rough categories before the season starts and then I just stick to that general list of ‘a black floaty dress’ for example and then try a bunch on until I find the one. So still considered but I know I want it without having to sit on it and potentially lose out!

    • @pixsiedoll2341
      @pixsiedoll2341 Год назад +4

      Highsteets go out of stock but always come back. You just have to check it often

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Год назад +20

      I totally understand that, but I also think that because items go out of stock this can cause a frenzy and unnecessary purchases amongst shoppers. It’s deliberately done to encourage sales but are often restocked not long after so was never ‘limited’ in the first place. It does sound like you make very considered purchases though and it’s great to see you have a method that works 🙌🏼

    I’ve been using your moodboard & wishlist method for about a year now and I absolutely love it! ❤️ It helps me prioritise what I actually want to buy instead of impulse purchases, and makes sure I buy pieces that will actually fit into the wardrobe I have/want to have. I used to hate buying clothes a few years ago as I felt I didn’t know how to dress myself and nothing in my wardrobe went together, your style has totally inspired me and now I feel so much more confident! ❤️

    I have started to integrate this method into my habits for a couple of years now and the other positive effect of it is the quality of items I can afford is higher now. As there is a lot less impulse purchase for me, I have more budget to spend on items that I actually need. For example, I started to slowly upgrade my favorite basic items, a better quality bag or pair of sandals instead of high street options. A good quality T-shirt instead of basic h&m t-shirts etc... Or buying second-hand/vintage is also a lot easier as I have a clear vision in my head. Thank you for the spreading conscious style Emma :D

    • @EmmaHill

    I been following your videos for the last few years, and it has really helped me (being in my early 40s and a dog mom) to find a better, more responsible way to consume fashion. I trained as a fashion designer but found myself in boring office work, buying clothes was my only outlet and i know that shopping high! Now i feel i have worked towards a sustainable and long term classic wardrobe i love x thanks Emma! ❤

    For whatever reason, I have not been a Pinterest user except for the odd bit of scrolling around. Recently I started to make deliberate boards and I have begun to use it as inspiration in the morning or the evening before for outfits and it’s been tremendously helpful, especially on those really early mornings when I’m too fuzzy headed to think what I want to wear that day. It definitely helps me see what items I am pinning over and over and over again which helps me narrow down my “wish list” pins to things I know will stand the test of time and I can also scrutinize the items to see what the important details are so I have something definite to look for other than just vague ideas like “a striped sweater”. I know it has to be a certain length, neck detail, etc. Excellent tips, Emma. Ty ❤

    I didn't know found it this but I've been doing it about 7yrs too! In virtually the same way! I have a "in my wardrobe" and "in my work wardrobe" board, every time I buy something I add it to the board and then I have a "fashion" board where I pin looks I like, often searching for the type of item I've just bought to give me styling ideas (and it can work the other way, fashion looks steer me towards a purchase)
    I have a "wants" board which is usually things I want but can't afford now or to test if I REALLY want something.
    I then have a board of "my outfits" where it's images of me wearing an outfit, helped as I'm part of an online fashion group where we share our OoTD.

    I love your method! I use Pinterest for my winter and spring styling board for years now. But I just recently started to use the wish list. I am thinking about my new items better. It made dressing in the mornings easier because I have less ‘clutter’ and I save my money for more investment pieces. It’s truly such a win!!

The best part is that my wardrobe only has items that I love and fit properly. Now getting dressed is fun because I know I’m always going to be happy with whatever I choose. I also rewear me clothes often and I love. It gives me the feeling that I’ve made good choices and spent me money wisely. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

    Maybe one if the best vídeos of you.
    For those of us who love clothes and have experienced that “shopaholic boost” for whatever reason, moodboard and wishlist are great options.
    And having a personal catalog of all our pieces is extremely useful to have perspective and not ending up buying very similar pieces because we don’t remember we already have some.
    Basket shopping is great for me, and if I buy something out of impulse or not being 100% convinced, I leave it with the tags on for some days and let it “rest”.
    Lately I have returned some purchases that way, so I end up buying only what I really love 😉

    Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I have watched all your videos and now make a mood board, take screenshots of outfits i like on Instagram, have a wish list and am filling in the gaps in my wardrobe. I take all of the inspo pics and transfer them to google slides and then I have pictures of all of the clothes I own so I can recreate outfits in google slides. I organize my outfits by the type of shoe too because then I just have to choose the shoes I feel like wearing and I have my select outfits already planned out. As I go out to work or dinners, I take pictures of my outfits and post them next to my inspo pics for future reference. I now have a whole digital closet and fashion catalog and I LOVE getting dressed now. I scroll thru my digital closet and then just go and pick out the pieces so I don't wreck my whole room when getting ready. Time saver, money saver and truly enjoying the whole getting dressed experience now:) THANK YOU!!!!

    I´ve created a whole new board for spring/summer because especially in summer, my eye is always drawn to the cottagecore-y dresses that have dominated the past couple of years, but then I feel like a stranger when I actually wear that type of dress. So the coming months I am going to focus on what I actually like to wear during the warm months and not fall for my fantasy self style

    ...and on a similar note, I'm also very conscious about not buying unnecessary items. I too have had too many things just hanging in my closet, that I bought because I liked the color or something of that sort.

    Dear Emma, unrelated to this video, but if you ever run out of video ideas, I would be super interested in an updated "Wedding Guest Outfits" video. (I know you already did one a few years back.) I'm going to a wedding in a couple of weeks, and I'm absolutely at loss for what to wear. My colour palette is quite similar to yours, but according to the dress code police (Vogue, Elle …), not only is white obviously forbidden, but also black, beige, nude or any colour which could in bad lightning be mistaken for white (aka light blue or rosé). As if it isn't difficult enough to dress for a winter wedding. Would love to know what your outfit choices are and if and how you follow these unspoken dress code "rules".

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Год назад +1

      My general rule of thumb is to ask the bride & groom what they expect of the dress code, unless it’s on the invitation (ie. Black tie). I do stay away from all-white and I check what their bridesmaid colour is but otherwise all other colours are a go 👍🏼

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Год назад +1

      Yes I’ve mentioned before that I keep them private as they’re my personal boards tailored to me and covered in my own random notes that correlate to specific items in my wardrobe so it wouldn’t make sense to anyone else 🤣
      I have plenty of other public boards with outfit inspiration pinned though 👍🏼

    don't understand why people don't buy proper jewellery from good brands like Tiffany.. this jewellery is too yellow and garish to be paired with rest of her wardrobe and cheapens the look.

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Год назад +1

      I actually prefer my jewellery to anything from Tiffany’s which is not a brand I would ever choose to spend my money on and couldn’t disagree more that my jewellery looks cheap.
