A successful repair! Doesn't matter what it is, you got it working again, and didn't spend a fortune.

Well, a good repair, with all those blind holes to get into as well. Suspect half the motor dying was the brushes wearing out, they are not exactly rated for endurance, being likely a pair of copper alloy springs running on the commutator. Those magnets are probably there to provide a boost as you say to the field, though more likely are there to hold the metal of the one section of the blind in place, so it will not slip loose if the blind is removed for cleaning. Me I just have manual blinds, they work almost as well, just need to walk to them instead of using a remote.

I’ve got a projector screen that uses a Somfy motor.
It sometimes has a slight, creaky.. creak.. creak when it rolls up.
Been studying your video to wonder where to shoot some lube in it without tearing it all down 😄

That is a smaller version of the motor that powers our garage door.

QUESTION.. how did you remove the small circuit board on the bottom of that motor .. and how to reattach it to the new Mabuchi motor.
    I have 18 of them.
    Thank you.
