I'll pray for you Luke. I also struggle with porn but I have been reduce the intensity. Have been clean for a week and look forward to continue. Everytime you have lust, try to pray. For Catholic like me, I'll pray Hail Mary and Rosary because she is the Mother of purity. However, any kind of prayers work. Stay strong brother and I will pray for you sure.

We all need to quit being losers and falling into this trap...I've been in it many times and once went four months without a relapse and i can tell you God will change you if you really what it and allow God to work in your life...I am no better than anyone else as all have sinned, but i know at a deep level i must repent of lust because i know of it's demonic nature and that it seperates us from God.

I thought I had managed to break free but I got sucked back in to this evil habit a few days ago and have indulged daily since, it is a truly evil kind of temptation that manages to pull you in despite you knowing full well how wrong it is
I agree porn is bad! however porn/masturbation addiction or not is a symptom of the loneliness epidemic that is so pervasive today! The way people, even Christians slam doors in people’s faces and cut off hands of friendship leaving each other to pornography is itself appalling and needs to be addressed. Only then will porn whither away! The Church got the organization to help but does very little with it! Unless you are already married, the elderly, or women there’s little out there in such a large world wide organization like the Church!Most people, including Christians, are too narcissistic to make friendships anyways! The Church dropped the ball on that too! These major problems the Church refuses to address makes their rightful condemnation of porn ring so hollow! Very sad indeed!

Just as a side note, I think there's a cathartic effect that porn has in our culture where marriage is not idealized, and being perpetually bf and gf is idealized, and even if you marry, the husband is idealized as being a bumbling idiot who doesn't really know his wife. And I understand porn is inherently bad, but I think people need to emphasize how it's factually bad too. There might be "good" porn lines, but they're always delivered badly. You can't have sex all day with a stranger in front of other strangers, looking at a camera, and be deeply convincing of your love for that person. So it's just factually icky when these pornstars do or say things. But in our culture imo, there's a cathartic effect of porn that won't go away until marriage is set back where it belongs.

"scientific evidence" in the context of naturalistic sociology is not sufficiently basic to frame The Good. It is not only problematic, but impossible, to answer the question "what is good?" only within the frame of scientific inquiry inquiry for this reason. There is no internally coherent account to be made that a "util" is good, or even what a "util" is in the first place without first exiting the empiric frame. Insofar as sexual purity is an outgrowth of our being conformed to The Good, that is God, it will satisfy us more completely and perfectly than we could ever hope. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

My comment is only but another pebble on the shoreline of this important topic but I would strongly refrain from praying for another person if you are under the same or related condition.
A prisoner is unable to set another prisoner free from the same areas of bondage except a free man. It is good to share a deep empathy for one another but it is no good to deceive yourself thinking your empathy is a prerequisite for lasting change.

I am commenting on the self awareness one can lack when you are deeply entrenched in the pornography paradigm. Prayer is an essential requirement for this but I believe prioritizing your prayer for another when you are in the same position may further obfuscate your own understanding of how far you have fallen.

Firstly, I partly agree with you. I think Protestant/Catholic iconography is bad. But moderate use of it is okay. It may serve different purposes.

@@blakeavila4409According to your definition of idolatry, God contradicts Himself and commands and permits idolatry with His prophets and people. Thankfully, that is not what idolatry is. Actual historical idolatry as practiced by near eastern paganism which the bible condemns was treating images, often statues, of the gods as their bodies. The pagans would undergo rituals of "opening the nostrils" of the statue to make a body, or idol, of their deity. Then, by cleaning, clothing, and offering sacrifices for the idol they would gain favor with that deity which would have to fulfill their desires. It was a form a magic utilized over spirits which, ironically, actually was the means of the false gods i.e. demons to control them.
