    About Aaron Blaise:
    ============================
    Aaron Blaise is an animation feature film director and wildlife artist.
    For 21 years Aaron worked with Disney helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made. During that time he worked as an animator or supervising animator on "The Rescuers Down Under", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", "Pocahontas", "Mulan" and more.
    In 2003 he was co-director of "Brother Bear" for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.
    After "Brother Bear" he helped to develop several projects but ultimately left Disney to pursue an opportunity back home in Florida. Aaron recently served as 2D Animation Supervisor and Character Designer for the "The Bear and the Hare" an advertisement loved by millions around the world. ( • Video )

    I LOVE the creature art teacher courses - so many great courses to choose from! I became a member and it is so worth it - always finding courses I'm interested in and I really like them (plus improving my artwork too). 😁👍🏻

    This guy does all the things I've heard other artists say "DONT DO THAT" about (mechanical sharpening, finger-blending, touching the paper, blowing the dust off with your breath, not working from the shoulder, etc.)....but it still looks amazing.

    Welcome to the Philippines! I think it's not yet too late for me to learn drawing especially charcoal technique. Thanks for sharing this. In the future I may use coconut charcoal from our coconut farm. You're right, the generation today have a quick access on almost everything....in my days, pencil is expensive to buy.

    I would like to see a how to make one of those sticks as a tutorial and how to make them smaller equivalent if you are drawing with a Printer size paper or 11 by 17 size piece of paper.

    I have never seen a pole with a sock attached to help you draw over the drawing so you can rest a hand over the art. I like that more than putting a paper over the art so that you prevent blurring or so that you can see the rest of the art while drawing.

      @ mythdusterds... where have you been ? that "pole with a sock attached" is called a Mahl Stick and has been in use for at least the last 500+ years and is mainly used by painters... oh what's the use, google it and learn something...

    I did not know that Disney decided on different mediums in each film. I always thought that Disney used ink on the cells unless they were backgrounds.

    I do tattoo portraits like this on human skin
    Its alot harder to do
    but the reward of seeing the finished product stare at you from the persons ribs is priceless.

    I am new to this technique, how can you give so CLEAN highlight, I have a kneaded eraser but cannot do such clean work ( no doubt you are v v senior and experienced). It will be a great help. Thank you

      Because he used VINE/WILLOW charcoal for his original sketch. It erases easily compared to compressed charcoal.

      They are pretty complicated. Not any plans out there that I know of but you will occasionally see the real ones for sale on eBay

    I notice your hand starts rocking before the pencil touches the paper and you never do a single stroke line. Should all lines be a series of small strokes?
