She was 22 at the time. She started with After Forever in 1997 as a backing singer at first, but soon they realized they had a treasure in their midst.

Floor's mother unfortunately suffers from arthritis quite badly...that's what the song 'Strong' is about.
My mum also.....it's such a nasy, ugly disease.
I get a lot of strength from Floor, as a whole and especially concerning this closeby, heavy situation.

So cool to see Floor's mom smiling ear to ear and Dad nearby. Having their daughter on TV must have been quite the experience. Now Floor will be featured on German television version of Beste Zangers on show called, "Sing Meinen Song" this April. She has certainly come a long way.

When After Forever toured together with Nightwish, Tuomas knew she would fit but did not want to breakup bands. Years later he called her when their singer got ill during a tour.
The singer did not get ill. The singer fought a battle over a dispute with the band and eventually lost.
Tuomas didn't ask her because he knew she'd say no. She would not have left AF, for any reason.
@@treintje1001 Annette Olzon got pregnant earlier than expected in 2012, so it was obvious that she could not finish their world tour (which in those days meant eighteen months of touring). Nightwish then asked Floor who was just recovering from burnout to finish the tour with them as a temporary substitute, over the strenuous objections of Annette, who quite rightly feared Floor would undermine her position in the fanbase. Floor accepted.
Enter the Denver Debacle. Annette got rushed to hospital hours before the Denver show because of illness. Some say that it was related to her pregnancy, but I am not a doctor so I have no opinion and it doesn't matter anyhow. Nightwish then held a vote in the audience about cancelling the show or doing it with Alyssa and Elize, two singers from the supporting acts. The audience voted for the show must go on, but Annette took exception to this from her hospital bed, basically asking if a Rihanna show could be held without Rihanna. Since Annette who? is no Rihanna, Nightwish kicked her out immediately. They then asked Floor if she could come earlier, like "now". The rest is history.
So Annette definitely was ill.

Interesting Fact Floor Jansen(Nightwish) and Mark Jansen [No relation to Floor] (of Epica) both were in this band.

Floor's stage antics and 'persona' with After Forever and ReVamp were a bit more aggressive than with Nightwish. From the first moment she fronted NW, she adjusted to a more majestical style and attitude.

Floor is an absolut amazing singer. If you want another european gem, try Michael Kiske, one of the best german metal singers. To start maybe with Helloween - I Want Out official video. 🎸🤘
Awesome! Have been a huge Floor Jansen fan since the After Forever debut Prison of Desire. Later AF was confusing to me because they did not have a signature style, having kicked out Mark Jansen early on. The Mark Jansen who then founded Epica. Even though I am a fan, I had never seen this before, so kudos to you!

Floor was so in her element when she was in After Forever......they let her do anything she wanted vocally not that Nightwish doesnt but i feel like they hold her back a little ......thats just my opinion.
