I know this is an older video but I hope the son is doing okay. He seems like a good man and I'm sure it must be hard on him knowing he took a life, despite the fact that he was 100% warranted and that attacker deserved it. I cried when he repeated what his son promised him - and he kept that promise, despite definitely knowing he could have been (wrongfully) charged and convicted for it. Self defense laws in most of middle america cover people defending someone else from imminent grevious bodily harm, and certainly would have protected this young man's exercise of his rights. Some places on the coast are crazy but the rest of the country remembers its roots.
Well if this happened in Europe the son would have went to jail for murder or manslaughter, and for possessing a gun. It's like that even in some US states, like New York.
