Baby Orangutan (11 days old) with Mother - Zoo Prague

- New video of a sweet little orangutan at the Prague Zoo in the Czech Republic. The baby is 11 days old and we finally managed to capture him better than in the previous video. The mother takes very good care of the child and is very protective of it. So enjoy a few selected shots that we managed to capture in a few hours of watching.

Blankets? What for? Are there blankets in the wild for orangutans?
Piles of green branches would be more appropriate for bedding. It’s what orangutans use in the rain forest.

The baby is beautiful and the mother is caring. I will never understand why zoos change animal behaviour, in the wild a mother and child would never be with a male, it's dangerous for the child and unnatural, but the enclosure has nothing to do with the natural either. I know that these orangutans will never return to their natural habitat, but respect for them would require creating the most natural conditions possible for them. They don't live on rocks but in the treetops, it's like humans being kept in sewers all their lives! I don't just mean this zoo, but unfortunately the majority.
I hate to assume things based off of a ten minute video. Maybe this is only part of their enclosure?
@@Songbird1977jk Yes it's just a short film, but I don't think there are tall trees growing there, I meant that most of the aviaries in the zoo, are made for viewing and not for the animals to feel comfortable in unfortunately. I think they should be given as close to natural conditions and ch as possible, they are after all confined there for their whole lives. After all, even inside you can sow grass, not just concrete.
Just be happy they're being well taken care of. I personally hate zoos but this one seems to do great. Plus I didn't hear the orangutans complaining lol. I look at that baby and I'm thankful she is safe from pouchers and so is her mom.
@@for-real-countrygirl4192 I don't know about the care, I hope it's good, the baby is beautiful but they won't complain because they don't have a choice, but if they had a choice they would definitely choose greenery, trees and not concrete, so there's nothing to say watch and enjoy, you should pay attention to the living conditions of the animals in the zoo and help change them if there is a possibility. There are zoo's that have great conditions but also such concrete quarries and these should be improved.
@donataj2213 yeah I think the orangutans would enjoy more greenery but over all they are very well looked after. If I had a choice there would never be any Zoos but I don't have any problems with sanctuaries. They help animals re-enter the wild it at all possible

That's how a mother orangutan is supposed to take care of their baby. Jignga and Jarang would benefit greatly by watching clips like this.

It's because she just gave birth. She's nursing so the baby naturally is getting alot of moms calories. I'm pretty sure
The baby has no trouble nursing, and mom orangutan holds him close to her breast, warming and protecting him❤. When she looks at her reflection in the water, I wonder what she thinks? She seems very pensive. It’s odd seeing a new mother with a male, though.

isn't she resourceful. my lord organs are freakin smart. use the fabric to wrap up the straw so it can be easily carried in one hand while the other hand holds the baby secure and the foot hands can do all the balance and climbing. If only orangs could talk they would be a force to reckon with lol

Wild orangutans are living in forests…. The trees are their kingdom.
I feel sorry for these wonderful animals, they have to live in abnormal circumstances because humans destroy them and their natural habitats.

Its a boy. The name will be chosen and it will be baptized a month after the birth.
