To be super honest, you sound like DS & that's cool 😎 but what I suggest is. Bring your own style, your own flavor, my man. Would I buy a your CD??? I would not & it's not because you're not good. If I wanted to hear DS, I'd buy his CD, if you want me to buy yours, you must bring it 🖤...
IMHO, Lington sounds like himself and doesn’t sound like Sanborn. Listen to his other songs as well. Certainly played this cover with his own uniques flair! That said, I believe what you are hearing in general is that edgy modern sax sound pioneered by Sanborn. And maybe Lington threw in some Sanborn like split tones and licks paying homage to him. ; ). But he is much more than just a Sanborn mimic - that’s all I meant to say.
