I think early on, Wiz and Boomstick were viewing actual worlds where the fights took place (Eggman Vs. Wily, Chuck Norris Vs. Segata). Personally, I prefer the idea that the fights are simulations whipped up in-universe by Wiz.
The explanation given in the cartoon as to why Jake’s mom doesn’t have dragon powers is that they skipped her generation, but there isn’t really any further explanation as to why they skipped a generation.

Mostly with Supes, since he never lifted the book of infinite pages....him and Shazam were rejected by it. Supes never sneezed away a solar system with his own power. He had that imp's magic dust on his nose. And weighting eternity doesn't make sense....since....it's a length of time not any sort of weight. So it would be weightless and even if, Green Lantern did most of the heavy lifting for Spectre not Supes and WW. My other issue was just using more different versions of Supes instead of just sticking to the comics since every Superman is usually heavily different to where they are different people compared to the "main" ones like Post Crisis and New 52. Like Superman obviously wins if you use the main 3, Pre Crisis, Post Crisis, and New 52(mostly due to Pre Crisis)

Also they did more focus testing after season 1 and a lot of the kids thought Jake and his friends looked way younger than Rose. That's why his human side was redesigned to look a lot taller. Not sure why they made Jake so much scrawnier in Dragon form. That feels like the main thing people complain about when it comes to this redesign. Everything else looks better in my opinion and the fight scenes were better animated but that change was so random and extreme that it's the only thing most people remember. Maybe he was somehow cheaper to animate that way or maybe they wanted him to look more like his grandfather and be like a fusion between the eastern and western dragon archetypes.

For the record Jake didn't actually beat the dark dragon or the huntsclan. His girlfriend kind of defeated both of them. Also he needed a plot device to defeat the weak group of ghosts he fought so this was a pretty obvious victory.

I feel like they were equals at one point but I think in the finale the dark dragon curbstomps him and several other dragons and then Rose beats the dark dragon pretty much on her own. And I feel like part of that was because of her natural affinity for fighting dragons but regardless you can't really list defeating the dark dragon as one of Jake's feats if he fought it and lost easily. Maybe I'm misremembering that though. It's been a long time.

More importantly I do remember Jake trying and failing to beat the Dark Dragon in the finale. The argument that Rose was able to beat the dark dragon so Jake should be able to do so as well since he probably beat Rose a couple times in the past doesn't supersede the more concrete evidence that he did fight the Dark Dragon and lost.
The one thing I most remember from Jake Long was Haley going trick or treating with her grandfather and him accidentally outshining her with his "old man costume".
