The key points you hit here describe very accurately the experience I had over 5-6 hrs in the sim now. This is a VFR flyer's dream. I didn't expect to enjoy the default craft as much as I have, but the improvement in physics and flight dynamics are real! Since we're still so throttled for bandwidth, I decided to stick to my local area and have rolling cache on. Even with the bandwidth and server issues, the level of detail is immense compared to 2020. Roads, bicycle paths, signs, lamp posts... I landed a balloon in Rotterdam city center because I ran out of gas. Set her down in a parking lot and there was an accurate storefront for a local supermarket here. That's what I think people tend to miss in their outrage over day 1 issues... When the Bing data is there, the world can look SO detailed and amazing. All the different buildings and types of housing I've seen, used to be autogen in 2020... I'm gonna re-visit so many places and find out what it looks like currently. Great video, subbed.
@AirborneGeek People are overreacting with the review bombing and stuff... MS/Asobo should have managed expectations better, that's it. We're on day 3 and I have some bandwidth now, enough to be serviceable for normal flights. If they get my Bravo throttles to work(no lights still)fully, and some 3rd party devs get their planes up to scrap, I'm deleting fs2020. Not a perfect launch, but it was never going to be.
your comments on the flight model for msfs2024 are just what I wanted to hear, because for the last 40 years I have not been been able to enjoy msfs flight model because the planes feel like they're on rails and lighter than air. DCS, despite its myriad issues is unbeatable when it comes to flight model. It really feels like a multiple ton hunk of metal is struggling to stay in the air.
This really tempts me to go try out DCS. I have always been fascinated by dcs videos but never had the patience to try and learn the details. But yeah the ground effect feels much more natural and 2024 and overall twitchiness is gone. You can tone down the sensitivity further to fine tune it but I have been running default sensitivity and it feels just fine
@AirborneGeek the awesome thing with dcs is u can try it out for free with the su25 and the unarmed p51 mustang. Just do training missions its a great introduction before u go all in with modules and maps
Great job.Very well balanced review. As you said, the worse part of this sim is the controls section...pure nightmare. I watched your video about that and I'm still confused about many points. It was so simple in 2020, so why did they mess it up?🙄
I think I see what you're saying. From when I flew, I would say it still requires less right rudder than it does in real life to keep it coordinated but if you don't have enough right rudder in you are going to start seeing the left bank. I did not see much adverse yaw when rolling on both c172 and c152. But then I haven't seen it that much in real life either. If you can explain the undesirable behaviour more, I can to try to remember some real flying experience and think through it..
@@AirborneGeek when rolling or turning aircraft has yaw effect which causes skidding or slipping so you need to apply rudder to stay coordinated, so far that has not been modeled at all i.e. you didn't have to use rudder at all or if you used it it just made things worse. That was my question. Btw nice video 😉
@fordalan5673 ok yeah that is how I understood it. So yeah you do need put in some rudder input to counter the left roll and stay coordinated. But the amount of right rudder doesn't truly equate real life. I have had to put in a lot more irl. I'd say 2024 is somewhere in between where 2020 was and real life
1. Thank you very much for your video 👍🙏 2. We all shoud know already that you never should buy anything at release day. The game will have bugs and othe issues. Best time will be after 3 months when most of the issues will be (hopefully) removed. 3. If you are flying IFR only (Airline Pilot) there it does not make any sense to go for MSFS 2024. Trees above FL200 - + still will look the same. 4. If you are: a) new or used still old version (FSX) and switching over, it will make sense. b) if you fly missions only c) version: simply go with standart version. Why to pay lot of money for huge amount of aircrafts which to 99% you'll not use it. Let's be honest. We have already our favorite aircrafts in our hangar (fenix, pmdg or ifly). d) what the reason I might buy 2024? Just for mission or vfr ( VR Mode only) flights only.
@@AirborneGeek X plane isn’t as visually pleasing but as far as avionics, flight models it feels like the real thing. Great for IFR procedures. Especially if you’re a real pilot.
Yessss if have potato PC, dont buy msfs 2024. if you force it then you will only get games like FSX. Rekomendation for 4090, 4080 or 7900xtx, with powerfull procesor. I refund msfs 2024. Im back to msfs 2020 (i5 10600k + 5700xt = 32-38 FPS setting high) Low shadow, low bloom, medium shaft light. This is just my experience, it could be different from others
Congratulations on a professional and intelligent review! It's such a relief to see a balanced perspective after all the negativity from people who lack common sense or any real understanding of flying or software development. Well done, sir!
i bought it , i couldnt make a flight, i was so complcated and , all they are selling is view, thats all ,, same view im getting it in 2020 , 2 hours later i'd ask for my refund, , 30 minutes later i got the confirmation ,,, now is more an arcade game than an sim , for real
Finally someone who gives a proper review. In my opinion it’s amazing 10/10, give it a couple of months for the bugs, and the performance issues to be ironed out and we’ll have the greatest flight sim ever
Your numbers don't match your mouth lol. I like it though. It's like you're Trump, doing an impression of an Indian dude, that's into flight sim shit. Verry effective
@@AirborneGeek No. It does not. All the problems from 2020 plus many new ones. EPIC FAIL on all levels. Never to be fixed, just like 2020. Take back my upvote for your silly comment.
That's total bs. I don't know wtf you're playing (or taking) but open your eyes and mind jack. This 24 is the best damn flight sim in the series. Carry on with that weak minded opinion.
Sorry for the issue with scoring on the video. What I say is what I am scoring things at, not what I show 🙂
Very very nice and objective review - thank you! I will stay with MSFS2020 for at least a couple of months🙂

I guess there's no need for bridges in FS 2024 either, since all vehicles are amphibious. Amazing!

Yeah they need to just revert back and also add a feature to import pre-built profiles 🥲
Question about flight dynamics.. have they sorted out adverse yaw and use of rudder for coordinated flight... So far it has been terrible. Thanks

What can I say? FS2020 is not even close to real thing.
Control, flight dynamics, speeds, performance and só on...

a great update to 2020. don’t like the cache process. don’t care about how many planes, but i do care about level of detail on planes and airports.

Very good informative video just subscribed
I5 was very hard to tell the difference between 2020 and this. Still needs optimization.
I definitely see the difference in a lot of things. Like massive differences I would say

Very enjoyable and informative video

Hey, are you from India?
Yes sir
@AirborneGeek sweet! Let's fly together sometime
@AirborneGeek where in India you're from?
@F22raptor46 sure thing, see you on discord
Nice review and good comments. Your scores that you verbally state do not match the graphics in the video. Cheers
I probably messed up the graphics while editing... Sorry about that 😕
FS2024 feels like a arcade with great visuals, I’ll stick with xp12 for real world practice

@Jose69788 definitely going to try it out then coz I want something for real practice. Any GA plane recommendation that is study level?
I miss the old world flight map
Free flight you mean? I like the new one they just need to speed up the terrain loading somehow. Need to cache that part or something

Yes sir
