just ordered one in champagne finish ,also got shorter FT legs and Ambassador Coated heads; really hope that this could be a perfect tiny kit for jazz gigs in small places and I very curious to litsen how the BD works with Ambassador coated. I didnt had a chance to hear it live or in a video recorded without mics :: Do you think that this nice kit will fit the jazz (bebop/mainstream) thing? Did anyone tryed this kit for jazz? thanks John
I recommend you to experiment with different beaters. I use Vic firth VKB5, VKB1 and also Danmar wood beater on my last video with black suede heads. Be careful to the tension of the reso head, I tend to tune it slightly higher than batter side. The batter side is finger tight+ around 1 turn extra ish. Good luck!
@@westerlu77 Thank you kindly. I just picked one up my kit last week and am still fiddling with it; didn't save up enough to replace the heads quite yet so that's probably a good portion of the challenge here, but do appreciate your videos with the ClubJam Pancake; lots of insight and options!
With no mics? I use bass drum mic, snare drum mic, hi-hat mic and then 2 overheads. But if you the read text there is no eq at all. No processing at all. So this is how it sounds natural you can say. ☺️
@@westerlu77 Apologies. I missed that. In that case they do sound really good. Would they need to be mic'd in a small club/bar setting? Also is that a "wrap" finish?
@Johan Westerlund Tell me, do you think the Pancake sounds better with the transparent Remo Ambassador or with the sprayed white Remo Ambassador plastics ? ( it seems to me that it is better with injected white plastics, the tone is a little deeper and more ringing ).
It depends what sound you’re after. I think that you get a more attack sound with transparent head and a little more ringing and maybe a deeper sound as you said.
I appreciate the care put into the production on this demo. Thank you
man, this video could have been like 30 more minutes and I would kept watching.
yessir those drums are knocking bro! 🔥🔥🔥
It sounds amazing
Damn your grooves are good.
Got a set on order. They sound cool 😎

I can give it a try to record with ambassador heads and some jazz beats.
Here @John Jones comes a video for you;) ruclips.net/video/T35AqAxAGhw/видео.html
@@westerlu77 thank you!!! That is perfect!!!!
@@westerlu77 thank you !!!
I like the snare drum
Tips on getting the bass drum punchier?

Excellent, did you put something inside the bass drum?
No muffling. Fingertight or lowest possible pitch on batter side, a little higher on reso side.
And it's micd
how's the stability of the bass drum? It seems it moves a lot with relatively small power?
I haven’t experienced any issues with the bass drum as long as you get the right angle with the legs against the floor.
Does the Pancake drumset include stands and a kick pedal or is it a shell pack?
Hi! Just shell pack. No stand or pedal unfortunately, but you get much drum for that price anyway.
@@westerlu77How much does the shell pack cost? Thank you & cool video!
@@djevlhelvete Thanks! Around €400.
What’s is sound like without mics?

@@jawsmod I should say that a bass drum mic is needed to get a little bit of low end. And maybe 1 overhead for the entire kit. No wrap on this kit.
hey, which cymbals are you using here?
Hi! I’m using a Meinl 14” jazz thin hihat and a 22” Byzance Sand crash/ride with rivets in this clip. Beautiful cymbals.
That crash/ride sounds incredible@@westerlu77
Man I wish I had a drum set for my Autistic kids
Now without mics.
Sounds good but can get a Catalina kit for 200 more
So can you …. Now recommend those added heads ?
Thanks
Which heads? I try just to show how the drums can sound with different heads.
