Well, their home planet wasn't exactly destroyed. They just felt like they needed a better one. There's probably colonies on other planets. We could see a return, possibly with a strong tie to Rosalina studying them, monitoring their movements as an empire, and maintaining order.
I used to think Yoob was just a giant Yoshi who got infected, and All he destroy anything he saw, except the shroobs. This video convinced me he was totally something else and his purpose is interesting.
I think Mario and Luigi remember the shroob because they were a babies when they saw a shroob. So my theory is that after the event of partners in time. Baby Bowser somehow took all of the shroobs back his castle and froze them and lock them up in the cold room for a rest of the years. So the cold are now permanently ban for everyone and no one is allow to enter the room. And they grew up as adults and they still remember about the shroob. So baby Bowser keep them in cold room and froze them and they were never unfroze again.
I like the style of Superstar Saga, Partners in time and Bowser's inside story.. But I don't really like Dream Team and Paperjam.. They should make a new Mario and Luigi game with the style of the 3 first games and make a comeback of the Shrooms! Like if you agree!

I think it's interesting how violent and horrible the Shroobs can be. Despite their technological advances, which is something that's usually tied to intelligence and wisdom, when they get angry, it seems like they lose all control, mostly saying "Destroy" in that state. I think it's the most obvious with the two Princesses Shroob, who we see speak full translated sentences, only to start repeating "Destroy" as they lose their temper. And Elder Princess Shroob even destroys her own army's ships to use as projectiles, with no care for the lives of the Shroobs inside these ships. And I think that this is the Shroob's true nature. No matter how advanced their technologies are, no matter if they try to keep their anger in check, they're a violent species who have a hard time controlling themselves. Basically, destroying is their natural instinct, and they can't control it, no matter what they do, and when they get angry, they just become mindless violent creatures, and that's their main flaw. Or at least that's how I see it.

They attacked yoshis island and set up camps all around the mushroom kingdom. I wouldn't be surprised if they are able to take over every kingdom on the planet because they definitely have the power.
The presence of the Elder Princess Shroob in the preservation chamber raises the question on how she even reverted back to her first form. Last time she was seen she was some sort of vapor like being enhancing Bowser's strength. Given though that maybe countless years have passed it could have been possible that Elder Princess Shroob regenerated and started recreating her empire but Bowser caught wind of this and wanting no other bad guy to usurp him of his title as the greatest evil trapped Elder Princess Shroob and her minions in cold storage. What Bowser didn't expect though was the bros to find the chamber and hit the button to set it to thaw. Because the blocks of ice for the more prominent figures in the Shroob hierarchy are thicker they will probably take longer to thaw but considering there are multiple Jr. Shrooboids Shroids, and Commander Shroobs that once they do thaw they could put up much more of a challenge but the real threat is that giant chunk of ice in the middle. The one containing Elder Princess Shroob herself. Should that one thaw then everything hits the fan.

Since Elder Princess Shroob is able to create Time Holes (like one of her attaks) the Shroobs from the future time-travelled to the past were not only Mario and Luigi but also Bowser were still babies and not powerful like in the future. Then, after the events of the game and when the babies have become the adults, their timeline's Shroobs invaded the Mushroom Kingdom, but since Bowser was aware of them he stopped the upcoming invasion without anyone noticing, imprisoning the Shroobs in his basements for studying them. That's the only logical way to cover the enormous plot hole behind that room.
Here is my own theory, there is no plot hole. The Shroob Princesses you see in the cold room are from the original timeline. In this timeline, without the intervention of time travel, the baby Mario Brothers had to deal with the Shroob invasion on their own without their future versions, but had to deal with the two princesses as well, so the older one was still free. They managed to do it anyway, but it took a lot longer, several years. However, they didn't manage to kill them, so they gave them to Bowser, so he could put them in the safest place they know: a fortified room in his castle. By the way, I think that Baby Bowser captured the three Shroob that we face in the cold room were captured in the village of Hollijoli while the babies were exploring Baby Bowser's castle: they're the ones you lose to at the beginning of the game. But for this point, I'm not sure and it doesn't matter.

I think it's safe to say the Shroobs are done. If you look at the 3ds remake of Bowser's inside story, during the battle with the shroobs, you can see not only the elder shroob princess, but also the regular shroob princess next to her. Does that mean that Bowser got all of them frozen? Will he ever release them? If so, will they even obey him? And what will become of the mushroom kingdom if they were to ever be released?

A thing I never understood was this. Did the younger Princess Shroob not care about her sister and was she trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom for herself? At no point in the story does she attempt to reassemble the cobalt star to free her sister, and when you fight her, she says "this kingdom is mine". Then there's the giant statue she built of herself and not the elder princess. I got the vibe she was A okay leaving her sister trapped if it meant she could be in charge of the kingdom.
This game makes me think of War of the Worlds, really. What if that was only one squad of Shroobs? What if they were testing the planet's inhabitants? *What if they came back?*

The only reason I hate partners in time is because it has such a dark and scary theme, not cheerful at all. It’s just dark background, dark music, dark history, and over all fucking terrifying 😂 I’m never playing partners in time again lol
Dark Mario games help prove that the Mario series isn't just "for children". Also, it wasn't always THAT dark to be completely honest. Most of the places you go are bright, colorful and cheery. The only dark place was Toadwood Forest? And same goes for the music. The only time the music was "scary" was whenever Shroobs were around. Everything else was fun and joyful, like Thwomp Volcano and Yoshi's Island, and you can't deny Star Hill's music was beautiful. I think you're overreacting a little too much lol
I'm a huge fan of the Shroobs ever since 2009, and after seeing this video, I prolly need 2 make more Shroob-related comics and backstories for my Super Mario AU, Successfully Shroobified (which is 2b found on Tumblr 4 those who r interested)
Maybe the shroobs and the toads were formerly on the same planet, or the shroobs were even banished there. as they ARE very similar. or maybe toads are humans partially effected by shroob technology, and that's why they are mushroom-like, and have the strange voices. very strange...
we saw more of them in Bowser JR's journey DLC. if it weren't for the company that partnered with Nintendo making the series going bust. we would have seen more of them.
If you play Dream Team you can see a picture of a Shroob in the camera shop in Wakeport. Might be a wanted poster suggesting that there might be some underground Shroob activity going on if that's the case.
I think they should have a Mario and Luigi game where the villain is wario and waluigi and maybe one where bower upgrades the shrooms using some secret thing fawfull had a plan for and then he sets them free but they turn on him and call there king also now the bean kingdom teams up with mushroom kingdom to stop them
they can certainly make the Shroobs the main-ish antagonists in a possible Mario Galaxy 3, those games do reference the multiverse after all

The only reason I hate partners in time is because it has such a dark and scary theme, not cheerful at all. It’s just dark background, dark music, dark history, and over all fucking terrifying 😂 I’m never playing partners in time again lol

Dark Mario games help prove that the Mario series isn't just "for children".
Also, it wasn't always THAT dark to be completely honest. Most of the places you go are bright, colorful and cheery. The only dark place was Toadwood Forest? And same goes for the music. The only time the music was "scary" was whenever Shroobs were around. Everything else was fun and joyful, like Thwomp Volcano and Yoshi's Island, and you can't deny Star Hill's music was beautiful. I think you're overreacting a little too much lol

There was one in battle in Mario & Luigi Bowser Inside Story, if you go to that video you can see there was Shroobs.
If you play Dream Team you can see a picture of a Shroob in the camera shop in Wakeport. Might be a wanted poster suggesting that there might be some underground Shroob activity going on if that's the case.

I think they should have a Mario and Luigi game where the villain is wario and waluigi and maybe one where bower upgrades the shrooms using some secret thing fawfull had a plan for and then he sets them free but they turn on him and call there king also now the bean kingdom teams up with mushroom kingdom to stop them
