For a portable device it's an outstanding job. The Switch is being compared with a PS4, obviously there are differences in terms of shadows, fur quality and so on, but it's a really remarkable job!

We buy a PC for the big games and a Switch for portability. -The Switch version is very close to the PS4 version in FPS. It's not 5 FPS because that would be literally unplayable. My suggestion? I got a platinum trophy for every game in this trilogy on the PS4, and a year later I've been playing the Switch version and i think I can say boldly that the port is perfectly fine! The graphical difference doesn't matter much because of the lower resolution
NO, Switch is NOT a graphical competitor of PS4. Switch is a handheld device, running on a incredibly small physical size. Nobody should expect switch to even compare to PS4 in that matter. I play games to have fun (whatever the console), not to call out very minor details that were changed when a port of this game was made. Everyone should come together, XBOX players, Ps4 players, PC players, and Nintendo players, and simply stop fighting over which console is the best. We are all gamers. We all have our preference for our games and the system we play them on, and we shouldn't let small things take away our focus from fun, which is why video games were made. Fun. All consoles are equal. If you play one console but dislike another console, I won't take that away from you. In conclusion, play video games to have fun.
It's not because that the 2 versions can't run 60 frames per second, it's because the developer is too lazy to make them run at 60, i mean cmon if really the switch can't run crash game at 60 frames per second, then how come the switch can run super mario odyssey at 60 fps, and Mario odyssey looks so damn gorgeous and so graphically better than crash ? Let's be honest, it's not about the lack of power, it's about the developer's work.
As an addendum, Nintendo knew what could be done with the Switch from the beginning. Activision were working on a 'what if' scenario. As for the PS4 version, I would guess it was a stylistic / nostalgic choice. People growing up with a PS1 controller in hand, playing the crazy games at 30 FPS or lower. Hand them a similarly-shaped PS4 controller and cap the frame rate at 30 FPS to send them on a trip back to their childhood.

I love how people are so threatened by a portable console like the Switch they will scream how "bad" the port is at any given opportunity. Here's a news flash: the Switch isn't made to compete graphically with other consoles or a PC. It's made to be portable, to be played anywhere at any time. Even if the graphics are not as amazing, I'd like you to play your PS4 on a plane or on a bus. Bet you cant. Also, bet you cant play Smash Bros or any other Nintendo game on your PS4, so I guess you'll just miss out on some of the best games ever (yes, I know the Switch wont get games like Last of Us or God of War, but you'll miss every nintendo game, and Nintendo has one of the best track records in the industry)

It looks like crap on switch. Ps4: 1080p, real fur, better textures, stable framerate, and responsive controls Switch: 720p docked, 480p portable, horrible textures, no fur, unstable framerate, laggy controls, long load times, worse effects, and more.

Tinto Honestly, it has less of a difference during gameplay. I noticed nothing different while playing but Crash's fur during the cutscenes. That's it, only it. Anyways, go buy which ever version, Switch, PS4, Xbox, PC, they're all great!

@@angelito2336 I wouldn't say it looks better graphically, because it clearly is the technically weaker version. But the contrast is slightly altered and the parallax occlusion maps on environmental textures (like all the tiki totems and stone carvings) are disabled. Combine that with Crash's fuzz-less model and, yes, I can see how some people say this looks closer to the Ps1 games. Whether it looks better aesthetically or not is entirely up to personal preference. I think the Switch does a fantastic job with this game and it represents the N.Sane Trilogy with flying colours. But without any second guesses, I say the PC version is the way to go, if you have a halfway decent computer.
0:52 I do actually like Switch Crash more. The textures are more clean and more detailed in a different way. The PS4 _is_ more realistic, per se, cuz the fur actually pops out, but it doesn’t look as good to me. Everything else looks straight up worse in comparison. Slight blurred up and less shadow detail most of the time. The cutscenes spdint change all that much, however.

Just so you know, these are the graphics in portable mode and you wouldn't be able to see the differences in the Switch's screen. When you go in TV mode with the switch the graphics and framerate goes much better.
I own both versions (PS4 + Switch) and I can honestly say Nintendo’s offering has the better experience overall. The port does an excellent job of carrying over the same experience with minimal loss in graphical quality, hats off to Vicarious
The Crash model on Switch along with the lighting, makes Crash look closer to the original PS1 model. I don't know, I think thats just me imaging things.

Minor differences that can’t even be seen unless you compare them from top to bottom. Both versions are beautiful. PS4 will obviously be stronger in graphics but that doesn’t mean that the switch version is a poor port. It’s an excellent port and proof of that is in our UK CHARTS, rated as number 1 on switch. So there’s that.
These comments are so sad... It's Crash Bandicoot! Fanboy or not, just enjoy the game! On Switch, some CPU-Heavy shaders have been removed and the draw distance has been slightly downgraded. The shadowing is superior to the PS4 version due to the lack of shaders and the model filling done by the shading makes Crash and others look more textured and realistic. The level texturing has become slightly foggier, but that's to be expected. Frame-rate is nearly identical; sometimes the Switch even hitting somewhere in between 40-30 fps in personal experience when docked. To me, this is a solid port and shows off just what the Switch is truly capable of. This also segway's into more Crash games on Switch, including the new CTR remaster + and maybe even a guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Just know you heard that from me first if it becomes a reality. #Crash4Smash

According to theories on advancing tech (forget the actual name), consoles, in order to keep up with PC tech, will have to either get very expensive or allow for updates often, or come up with good features (for example, the Switch is a good console because its portable. They dont care about graphics because it can do what every other main console can't, he played anywhere). The PS4 and xbox one try to compete graphically, but my PC has been more powerful than both for the past 3 years. In fact, it's probably on par with the next generation of consoles now, a full year or two before the next gen comes out. Consoles wont die, but they'll have to model themselves off of the Switch soon, because VR isn't the future of mainstream gaming and PCs will always and forever outclass consoles, and as technology expanentally gets more advanced, consoles will lag behind even further.

I understand the very notable downgrade, but the switch port plays exactly the same, which is the most important necessity from a port. Especially when Nintendo has multiple times explained that they’ve never given a shit about fancy graphics, only the actual gameplay and other abilities their consoles could pull off (which is objectively the smart way of thinking when trying to market a decent console or handheld) is it really a surprise that the switch version has shittier graphical fidelity? Maybe I’m just salty because I’ve played shitty ports of good games where the actual gameplay was gimped horribly so I know what really defines a bad port, but still. If not having the Fur Effect will save some energy for longer playtime on the go, then i really dont mind. Personally i really that care about the fur its a way to overrated feature of this game. Ps:(Firstly I am not a fanboy I own a switch and a ps4 pro and a pc.)So I have the crash bandicoot N.sane trilogy on both of my consoles and both almost runs the same except the switch version gets a little bit laggy here and there but its almost unnnoticeable!I think its preety obvious that the switch has a average hardware!But some games like super mario odyssey,fortnite,zelda botw,paladins etc these games run really smooth on the switch without any lag (atleast for me). But overall If you want to play crash bandicoot anywhere you want get it for the switch or if you have a ps4 and you dont ho outside very much get it for your ps4!

I didn't realize how hard this game is to run, even on the ps4. I have an entry level pc and i can run this game at ultra settings 60 fps. Really surprised the Switch is able to hold up well compared these other consoles considering it's a handheld.

They are porting many hard R games like Wolfenstein and Doom for example, and apart from being M rated, they also look and play phenomenal on other platforms, that's why i mentioned this. If this AAA Switch port trend continues, then they will always have the inferior version. That's why it baffles me why Nintendo won't release a console that can rival those game's performances on other platforms.

I got a platinum trophy for every game in this trilogy on the PS4, and a year later I've been playing the Switch version and i think I can say boldly that the port is perfectly fine!

I play games to have fun (whatever the console), not to call out very minor details that were changed when a port of this game was made. Everyone should come together, XBOX players, Ps4 players, PC players, and Nintendo players, and simply stop fighting over which console is the best. We are all gamers. We all have our preference for our games and the system we play them on, and we shouldn't let small things take away our focus from fun, which is why video games were made. Fun. All consoles are equal. If you play one console but dislike another console, I won't take that away from you. In conclusion, play video games to have fun.

As an addendum, Nintendo knew what could be done with the Switch from the beginning. Activision were working on a 'what if' scenario. As for the PS4 version, I would guess it was a stylistic / nostalgic choice. People growing up with a PS1 controller in hand, playing the crazy games at 30 FPS or lower. Hand them a similarly-shaped PS4 controller and cap the frame rate at 30 FPS to send them on a trip back to their childhood.

Here's a news flash: the Switch isn't made to compete graphically with other consoles or a PC. It's made to be portable, to be played anywhere at any time. But the contrast is slightly altered and the parallax occlusion maps on environmental textures (like all the tiki totems and stone carvings) are disabled. Combine that with Crash's fuzz-less model and, yes, I can see how some people say this looks closer to the Ps1 games. Whether it looks better aesthetically or not is entirely up to personal preference. I think the Switch does a fantastic job with this game and it represents the N.Sane Trilogy with flying colours. But without any second guesses, I say the PC version is the way to go, if you have a halfway decent computer.

Considering the difference in hardware power here they did a bang up job keeping the look and feel of the game intact.
0:52 I do actually like Switch Crash more. The textures are more clean and more detailed in a different way. The PS4 _is_ more realistic, per se, cuz the fur actually pops out, but it doesn’t look as good to me.
Everything else looks straight up worse in comparison. Slight blurred up and less shadow detail most of the time. The cutscenes spdint change all that much, however.

Just so you know, these are the graphics in portable mode and you wouldn't be able to see the differences in the Switch's screen. When you go in TV mode with the switch the graphics and framerate goes much better.
I own both versions (PS4 + Switch) and I can honestly say Nintendo’s offering has the better experience overall. The port does an excellent job of carrying over the same experience with minimal loss in graphical quality, hats off to Vicarious

Minor differences that can’t even be seen unless you compare them from top to bottom. Both versions are beautiful. PS4 will obviously be stronger in graphics but that doesn’t mean that the switch version is a poor port. It’s an excellent port and proof of that is in our UK CHARTS, rated as number 1 on switch. So there’s that.

On Switch, some CPU-Heavy shaders have been removed and the draw distance has been slightly downgraded. The shadowing is superior to the PS4 version due to the lack of shaders and the model filling done by the shading makes Crash and others look more textured and realistic. The level texturing has become slightly foggier, but that's to be expected. Frame-rate is nearly identical; sometimes the Switch even hitting somewhere in between 40-30 fps in personal experience when docked. To me, this is a solid port and shows off just what the Switch is truly capable of. This also segway's into more Crash games on Switch, including the new CTR remaster + and maybe even a guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to theories on advancing tech (forget the actual name), consoles, in order to keep up with PC tech, will have to either get very expensive or allow for updates often, or come up with good features (for example, the Switch is a good console because its portable. They dont care about graphics because it can do what every other main console can't, he played anywhere). The PS4 and xbox one try to compete graphically, but my PC has been more powerful than both for the past 3 years. In fact, it's probably on par with the next generation of consoles now, a full year or two before the next gen comes out. Consoles wont die, but they'll have to model themselves off of the Switch soon, because VR isn't the future of mainstream gaming and PCs will always and forever outclass consoles, and as technology expanentally gets more advanced, consoles will lag behind even further.

I understand the very notable downgrade, but the switch port plays exactly the same, which is the most important necessity from a port. Especially when Nintendo has multiple times explained that they’ve never given a shit about fancy graphics, only the actual gameplay and other abilities their consoles could pull off (which is objectively the smart way of thinking when trying to market a decent console or handheld) is it really a surprise that the switch version has shittier graphical fidelity?
Maybe I’m just salty because I’ve played shitty ports of good games where the actual gameplay was gimped horribly so I know what really defines a bad port, but still. Let people who only own a switch play their switch version and let PS4 owners play theirs, instead of bashing switch owners for only being able to play an only minutely inferior form of the product. I didn't realize how hard this game is to run, even on the ps4. I have an entry level pc and i can run this game at ultra settings 60 fps. Really surprised the Switch is able to hold up well compared these other consoles considering it's a handheld.

Even ignoring the whole portability/resolution/specs stuff, the fact that people are acting like Crash’s fur or whatever even matters is beyond absurd. It looks amazing either way, and I never noticed any of this until this video pointed them out, and even then I won’t notice while I’m actually playing the game rather than picking out tiny details. They are porting many hard R games like Wolfenstein and Doom for example, and apart from being M rated, they also look and play phenomenal on other platforms, that's why i mentioned this.
If this AAA Switch port trend continues, then they will always have the inferior version.
That's why it baffles me why Nintendo won't release a console that can rival those game's performances on other platforms.
Yeah well,that's just, like, your opinion, man ya that’s also true. It’s like they hold back a little each time. It’s like they wanted to leave their comfort zone but couldn’t. So no they have this console that can function as a main console but stays in the realm of what their past consoles have already been capable of.
Plus I mean I see your point because Nintendo has such an advantage due to all their exclusives so if they made a console on par with PS4 and Xbox it would most likely do very well. But I guess Nintendo just really wanted it to be portable that they went ahead and decided they would be okey sacrificing power for portability.
I did not understand why they changed the texture of the letters, and also, what matters is the fun not the quality :)
To hell with graphic differences, as long as i can enjoy the game i don't care how it looks, graphics are not everything

Imo if they have to make a whole video for us to notice the differences, this port succeeded
The only thing I dislike about the Switch Version is the weird shadow under crash's nose at 1:29
A friend of mine said if you put the RGB Range on the Switch to full Range, it will make games less laggy
The difference seems to be that the lighting is a little softer on switch.
