Thanks for checking in! Feeling much better today, finally. Was a tough 10 days in which I lost 11 pounds...Time to get back into full Chicago training 👍 Looking forward to seeing you there as well!
Rest well! I recently visited podiatrist for my plantar fasciitis that's been bothered me for over a year, per doctor's advice, I'm cutting back running and instead doing bikes, weight lifting in gym though I've got a marathon coming in fall. Health is more important!
Bill, I know as a matter of pride that you want to get a fast time in Chicago, possibly another BQ. However, if you don't get enough quality running work done between now and then, maybe you can re-design your Chicago goal. You could "fun-run" Chicago - years ago when I did Chicago the time limit was 6:30 You could just fun-run it at jogger's pace, merely to get your World Marathon Major finish checked off - then you could run the flat/downhill Cal International Marathon in Sacramento in December to get your BQ [but make sure that Sacramento is BQ-eligible, as so much of it is downhill.] Cal International gets sold out by Fall, so register soon if you want to use it as back-up marathon. Then you could start 2025 with NYC, Boston and Chicago done and then start focusing on the other World Marathon Majors races. You probably know that the Sydney, Australia Marathon is going through a two-year application process to be added to the World Marathon Majors, so hurry up and get your six-star medal before it gets more complicated with the addition of Sydney.
@@cathynewyork7918 Thanks for the comments, Cathy. I definitely am considering altering my goals for Chicago depending upon how this plays out. My number one goal at the moment is to get there and finish
@@oldmanvanrunning Yes, Bill, do re-consider your Chicago goals. If you are having "niggles" then you might not be up to the pounding and stress required for the speedwork you need for a BQ at Chicago, but you MAYBE CAN do the easy, old-lady-pace endurance runs that will help you finish Chicago within the 6:30, six and a half hour time limit. You still get the credit toward your Six-Star Medal, whether you finish in 6:25 or 3:25. Then you can get well, and come back in 2025 to do a PR that impresses those of us who are your subscribers. PS: I am NOT going to volunteer to come there and massage you "down there" where it hurts !!!!
Bill, I am very very very sorry you keep having problems and obstacles standing in the way of your running goals. How frustrating for you that your heart and soul and mind says "go" but your body says "no." I hope you get well and healthy very soon.
Bill - I have been hearing news reports of some fierce storms in Connecticut. We had bad storms here in New York City the last two days, but apparently Connecticut got it even worse. Are you okay? Is your family okay? Is your home damaged, or did it come through the storms with no problem?
@@oldmanvanrunning Bill, you're welcome for my asking. 😀 I am very happy to hear that you and your family came through the horrible storms with no damage or injury.
@@oldmanvanrunning I see that you just posted a new video. I am spending the entire long evening watching the Democratic National Convention via MSNBC, so I will watch your newest video later tonight or tomorrow morning. I look forward to it.
Had forgotten how much I hate country music, but that is a me problem, lol. I am wondering what strain of COVID I danced with a few weeks ago. Fatigue and body aches that persisted and only gradually improved over a couple weeks. Hey, you asked for comments...
I appreciate the comment! LOL If you watch the follow-up video to this that I uploaded a couple of days ago, it got worse before it got better. Still not certain what it is/was
Lots of obstacles, good luck with it all. Health is always top priority.
Thanks for that 👍
Feel better my friend! Listen to your body! Dealing with a glute issue myself as I train for Chicago. Hope to see you there!
@@AbuUmar62 Thanks! Hope to see you there as well. Best of luck with your injury.
Feel better! Looking forward to seeing you at the Chicago Marathon!

@@oldmanvanrunning Glad you’re feeling better. Chicago is so much fun. You’ll love the course. Fast and flat, except at the end - one small hill.

Thanks, Lani.
Keep on trucking Bill 😜
Thank you, Sir!
Good luck Bill - hope you recover ok 👍🏻
Much appreciated, Mark
Hopefully you can get a doctors appointment to see if anything serious
