I have been working to accomplish a quality sound method for on line lessons. (due to the quarantine) I have spent endless hours viewing youtube videos and most are hit and miss. Was looking for something else related to this, but great tutorial! wish i found this 2 years ago when i was struggling with my apollo lol. I had a friend show me how to set it up though. One change i've done since for more flexibility is use aux L/R as 1-2 so that way i can make a mix for stream and one for my head phones and one for my speakers. As i find especially when doing stuff in DAWs the volume will be too loud for stream but perfect for my ears. In DAW i have a send on the mix bus (not master fader) to go to virtual 3-4 or in my case ADAT out since i usually use separate computers for streaming and audio. having the console digital mixer and being able to run all the FX on it makes it SUPER easy to stream WITHOUT a daw. which is super helpful when doing live shows or just chatting so i don't lose any audio quality, save energy, and don't have loud fan background noise (i have a 2019 macbook pro). Anyway hope this comment helps a few peeps!
@Tano so grateful for all your videos and help. I have a rather deep question I cannot find anywhere on the internet. I am splitting the Apollo Thunderbolt signal to two different softwares at the same time. This is for live streaming a video call interview. So the Apollo is sending audio to the video call application and to OBS simultaneously. I do have an ATEM mini and would be able to send an analog signal to one of the applications and Thunderbolt signal to the other, maybe? Just wondering if you had any insights. The OBS audio will randomly start doing a Digital crackling sound in the middle of the stream and I have to turn off the Apollo and turn it back on again. Thanks for even reading this. In health. Kev
Question... I figured out how to get audio working from the Apollo to OBS as well the microphone audio but how can I make it to where I’m able to mute my microphone and still have the other audio coming through? Sorry in advance if you answered this in the comments somewhere but I didn’t see it.
You just saved me hours more of frustration. 😭 thank you for this video. When Luna came out I was trying to find so many workarounds without sending a physical output. This has made me so happy I could cry. Thank you! 🙏🏽

Tano, newbie here. Tano, right now, I am recording video with the Acapella app using the mic from my iPhone/ipad, and not taking advantage of the audio from my Apollo Twin solo. Could I use your process used above to record to my iPhone/ipad using an app called Acapella? Acapella is a video app used to record multiple videos, layering them to create harmonies, etc. Thank you kindly.
Hey man. There might be away to do that, but I’ve never done it. This method won’t really help you with that though. I believe you can get USB-lightening adapters and connect your interface to your iPhone/iPad. I’m not sure if that’ll work with thunderbolt interfaces. Worth a try tho!
so I actually do NOT need to buy a second interface then? That's good. I just watched a different video where that seemed to be the solution but I figured there was a way to route the outputs like this. If I am making music after stream by myself, can I leave console like this? Or am I going to have to switch it back in between every time
thanbks a lot for this video, i have a question i have a apollo twin x but if i do that of placing channel 1-2 as L&R how will i use the mic also? i have my apollo connected by digital to a focusrite
Sooo... I followed your advice, set inputs one and two as Mon L and Mon R, and swapped my analog 1 and 2 to the channels they vacated, and it all appears to be working looking at the Audio mixer in OBS. But... when I do a test recording, the audio on the recorded video is silent apart from a few glitchy words here and there. If I set Console back to its default settings, it records as expected (Analog 1 on left channel). I can check mono on the input in OBS, which is a workaround, but I was really excited to finally have full control over my audio using Console... any suggestions?
Hey Tano, I'm trying to get stereo sound into zoom using my Apollo and Loopback, but I can't make it. Should I use the same settings in the UAD console you used here (MON R & L for both INPUT and OUTPUT)?
Lots of folks have been asking if this method renders your interface inputs 1&2 unusable. It DOES NOT!! Changing channels 1 and 2 in the i/o matrix to MON L+R doesn’t mean you can’t use use inputs 1 and 2 on your interface. All your mixer channels in console will stay intact. Changing the i/o routing merely changes the virtual paths of the inputs. You can just swap MON L + R with mic/line/hiz 1 + 2, then your first two inputs on your interface will appear as inputs 27+28 (or whatever mon inputs used to be) in your DAW. If you’re just using console, they’ll stay the same in the mixer window.

Hi Tano - blown away by the simplicity of this, however I can't get Stageit to see the Apollo (Twin) as an audio source? Do you know if this workaround definitely works with Stageit?
Hi Tano, thanks for the video. I have tried this when screen-casting through QuickTime but audio is still recorded in mono, do you have any suggestions for this please?
Hey Tano, this is a great tip. What do you recommend to do Live streaming with vocal and guitar amp? I do Online Masterclass and I tried to use a lavalier mic for the spoken parts. But it turns out to have too much guitar bleeding into the mic. Should I just use a regular one?
I think a regular dynamic mic (like a sm57 or sm58) would be great! Those mics are very directional so as long as it's pointed directly at your mouth (close distance), there shouldn't be too much bleed.
Good point! I always have notification sounds off anyway, I hate those little dings! And yeah when I'm streaming I put the computer on "do not disturb"
This is great. Can I include my microphone like you did and no need headphones to playback all of this while sending them to OBS? (I mean, I want to not mute my mic, but being able to playback music from Spotify and keep my mic open at the same time using the console as the output in obs).
Do you have any fixes for audio cuts when CPU spikes (such as loading a new vst in ableton?) I have an M1 Macbook Pro with 32gb of ram, i'm not sure its a CPU issue but I get audio in 1/30 frames very choppy.
I've set this up and appear to have accurate monitoring through both OBS and monitor, but when I record/stream, the audio is incredibly intermittent, maybe playing sporadically for 2 seconds in a 10 second clip. Any advice on optimal audio settings?
Having an issue using the Apollo Twin as an interface on MW2 or Warzone as I constantly hear an echo. Its not a hardware issue, the mic isn't picking up the audio its something else. I've tried repeatedly to figure this out. All the lobbies I'm in can hear an echo in my vocals, the funny thing is it works flawlessly in Discord. If you have any insight into what might be the problem it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for this. I have searched high and low and I do not have an IO Matrix with my console. Is there another way or a method to get the IO Matrix? Thanks.
Hi, please can you help me to set up the Apollo console for streaming, I'm a beginner and I don't know so well. I am waiting for an answer. With respect Cristi
Hi Trey. Yes you can still use Mic inputs 1 & 2 as normal. If you're just using Console, channels 1 and 2 in the mixer work as usual. If you want to use inputs 1 & 2 in a DAW, just reroute them to where MON L + R used to be, and then select those inputs #'s in your DAW.
I’ve spent months trying to find this information so THANK YOU so much for this! Side question, if running a dual pc streaming setup, would I just send the monitor outputs to the capturing device (legato hd60)?
Thanks for this video man. Was struggling to find any info on it other than stuff about audio from zoom into console, not audio from mon out of console. Just subscribed.
DS POET hey man! This same technique will work in LUNA. LUNA has Console built in as its mixer, so if you just go into Settings in LUNA and configure the I/O matrix the same way I do in the video, it’ll work just the same!
What if I'm using all of my inputs during a mix session and cannot use inputs 1 and 2? Is there a workaround for this? I'm currently routing one of my headphone outs to my MoBo's 3.5mm jack and selecting that in OBS for my stream. Would be curious if there's a better/different way. Thanks much!
I'd love to see a video on how to route audio from a browser into UAD console so that I could control the volume when recording with Screenflow or Camtasia.
Up and running, thanks Tano!! But I want to share I've found that setting channels 1 & 2 to an AUX instead of MON L & R is much more flexible, along with assigning the then displaced inputs 1 & 2 down to the unused talkback channels. So, if you're multitracking the stream and recording into a DAW simultaneously, you can record inputs 1 & 2 like normal (from the reassigned talkback channels) without the entire MON L & R bleeding in with inputs 1 & 2!!!
So are you setting Channels 1 & 2 to AUX L and AUX R? Then moving Inputs 1 & 2 to talkback 1 & 2? Do the UA effets still work when you assign them to a channel or do you have to operate through a DAW?
So I also use a pre amp I'm using in line 6 So how will OBS know I have a line in by doing what you did And if I change the first 2 to Mon L and Mon Right How will I be able to record in my dawn Because I have the first and second as line 6 So I'm able to record in protocols or FL
This has been super helpful, but is there a way to bypass microphone audio from coming out of the monitors as I send it into the stream? The way I had my devices setup before, I was able to mute the channel my mic was plugged into while all other devices were on virtual devices via Loopback. I'd much prefer to mix everything in Console, but it seems the Console device in OBS just reflects the actual mix coming out of my monitors, and I don't wanna hear my own voice.
Hey Paul! Glad you found the video helpful. Yes, I totally understand your issue, and there is a solution! What I would recommend is to use a HP send for your monitoring. That way you can have the stream receiving everything from the main MON out, and you can make a separate mix for what you’re listening to, and exclude your voice channel.
Tano Brock thanks for the quick reply! I thought about that, but that means I have to stream in headphones then doesn’t it? It’s not the end of the world I guess, but I’d love to be able to mix in my monitors if at all possible
With this method, you can use your DAW just like you normally would, but don’t enable inputs 1 and 2 on any track, because those are now receiving signal from Console’s output. The input and output device of your DAW should be your UA interface. You should be able to use all you mic inputs and midi instruments as normal. This just sends the monitor output of console to whatever streaming service you’re using.
i want to stream my beatsi make in FL Studio, using OBS and the apollo twin thunderbolt. I had an issue where i can only hear my audio out of one side, the left side. after i did your suggestions in this video the left right audio problem was fixed! THANKS! But, now i cant get my connected mic to register in my recordings in OBS, it can play my beats in FLstudio fine now, left and right channels, but now i cant get my mic to be heard in obs, im plugged right into my uad with the mic and can hear myself right now, but i dont get any levels when im opend up ion OBS and i hit record, but i can hear the beats in fl studio! i cant seem to open a track in FL to make a mic track either, idk why, any suggestions?
Good video but I have the Apollo Twin USB for PC and there's no i/o matrix. I reckon I'm gonna have to resort to recording my line out with an audio cable and another interface. Reckon that's a dodgy idea? Heard of anything for PC that would work? thanks.
Yeah unfortunately the I/O matrix isn't present with USB Apollos. Check out my other video on live streaming with a DAW! that method should work for you. There are PC equivalents to Soundflower.
How do you live stream through apollo solo in windows? My homies can hear my mic and my guitar, but cant hear any effects. Also i don't see an IO matrix on my console settings like you have! Most grateful if anyone can help!
The software I use to record the screen can record multiple audio channels simultaneously, so I’m recording my vocal input, and the MON out in console. My voice is muted in the MON of console, but is being recorded direct in the screen recording software.
Dear Tano, I’m almost illiterate with how apollo solo work. I have an m1 macbook pro and I wan to record audio clips in voice memos app built into my MacBook. When I do that, recorded clip can only be heard through one side of my headphones. I’m using sm7b. Please help.
Hi Tano, thanks this helps - I have a question that goes a step further using UAD - I have 3 UAD Apollo's and now I wonna use your UAD tip. Since all my channels are used capturing sound of my hardware set up, this is my questions: by changing input 1 and 2 into the monitor out I kinda "loose" my normal 1 and 2 inout... Is is that simple to use the (lets say) 27 and 28 (the old monitor out) for my original 1 and 2 input? So infect create/save a "OBS" I/O and a normal "STUDIO" I/O matrix will do the thing. I could just try it, but my I/O works fine now so don't want to mess it up. Thanks a lot! Take care out there!
Yeah...I guess the older Apollo’s don’t have the IO matrix. Check out my other video on streaming with a DAW! That method will work with any interface.
Does this only work on Macs? I have follow this video at least 10 times now and can't get obs to play anything from my Apollo but desktop audio works fine (but also won't play anything from the Apollo inputs). So lost... only way I eventually got something to work was I had to add an OBS plugin for ASIO inputs.
to add to this you can also route your computer audio via the Audio and Midi Setup App for Mac OS (search with Spotlight its already on your computer). open the app and then choose your Apollo, then scroll down to the virtual 1 and virtual 2 channels. click configure speakers and in the drop down for the left and right channels choose virtual 1 and virtual 2. this will enable you to mute the computer audio (now virtual 1 and 2) if you want to record thru channels 1 and 2 into a DAW. Note: whatever you have on INPUT 1 and 2, will play through as well as the computer's audio if virtual 1 and 2 are not muted. :) ALSO you wont be able to monitor inputs 1 and 2 trough the DAW...

Thanks.
Hey! Which interface do you have? and do you have the latest UA software?
@@TanoBrock It's The Apollo Twin. Everything has been updated. I just want to stream live and I'm having a hard time figuring all this out.
Short and sweet and to the point. Thanks! Had to come back for a refresher today, though, because routing makes my head explode :)
Hi, please can you help me to set up the Apollo console for streaming, I'm a beginner and I don't know so well.
I am waiting for an answer.
With respect Cristi
My Apollo isn’t thunderbolt connected. Can it still work?
I'm not sure...do you see the I/O matrix in settings?
How can I still use Mic 1 and 2 as inputs?
Awesome! Yes that's correct :)
Thanks for this video man. Was struggling to find any info on it other than stuff about audio from zoom into console, not audio from mon out of console. Just subscribed.
What if I wanted to do this with UAD Luna and want to Live Stream Luna at the same time as they do in Luna Office Hours?
DS POET hey man! This same technique will work in LUNA. LUNA has Console built in as its mixer, so if you just go into Settings in LUNA and configure the I/O matrix the same way I do in the video, it’ll work just the same!
@@TanoBrock Next question. How would I share my screen on OBS to live stream me working inside of Luna doing mixing videos?
You can just add a Display Capture source in OBS
What if I'm using all of my inputs during a mix session and cannot use inputs 1 and 2? Is there a workaround for this? I'm currently routing one of my headphone outs to my MoBo's 3.5mm jack and selecting that in OBS for my stream. Would be curious if there's a better/different way. Thanks much!
Also, to get back to the original i/o matrix we just click default under mode right?
yep!
@@TanoBrock Thanks!
Can you explain this a bit more in depth with exact routing steps? What are the talkback channels?
So are you setting Channels 1 & 2 to AUX L and AUX R? Then moving Inputs 1 & 2 to talkback 1 & 2? Do the UA effets still work when you assign them to a channel or do you have to operate through a DAW?
What’s up Tano… I Have Been Trying To Use Stream Yard And Couldn’t Get The Panel To Hear Me… I Will Try Switching Monitors L / R Thank You Brother…
you hath fixed my problem!!! for this you RULE!!
Is it possible to do it in a way where you don't hear your mic through your speakers?
does it work on windows
Have you noticed OBS randomly dropping the UAD Monitor input? Out of nowhere our audio will just stop responding during our livestreams!
same here :/
So I also use a pre amp I'm using in line 6
So how will OBS know I have a line in by doing what you did
And if I change the first 2 to Mon L and Mon Right
How will I be able to record in my dawn
Because I have the first and second as line 6
So I'm able to record in protocols or FL
Wow! Thank you for this very helpful video. I did my first live stream yesterday and so many inputs. This saved me!
Yay! so glad to hear. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already :)
@@Feelstoramusic I unfortunately have not.
i did this and it made a crazy hi pitch digital noise. didnt even sound like normal mic feedback.
what are the I/O settings in your DAW supposed to be set to while doing this? And your output settings for your macbook?
With this method, you can use your DAW just like you normally would, but don’t enable inputs 1 and 2 on any track, because those are now receiving signal from Console’s output. The input and output device of your DAW should be your UA interface. You should be able to use all you mic inputs and midi instruments as normal. This just sends the monitor output of console to whatever streaming service you’re using.
this was amazing... thank you (:
Thank you! Was going nuts trying to work this out.
I owe you a large bottle of your favorite adult beverage for making this. Many thanks, kind sir!
Hi Tano! How can I stream in TikTok or Instagram on iPhone with Apollo Twin X? Thank you!
I have been looking for months for a solution to this. Thank you so much.
Eyyy so glad I could help!
i want to stream my beatsi make in FL Studio, using OBS and the apollo twin thunderbolt.
What if you dont have the feature of INO matrix this is only with thunderbolt I think .
I’m having issues with latency not matching video! Any thoughts?
Good video but I have the Apollo Twin USB for PC and there's no i/o matrix. I reckon I'm gonna have to resort to recording my line out with an audio cable and another interface. Reckon that's a dodgy idea? Heard of anything for PC that would work? thanks.
Yeah unfortunately the I/O matrix isn't present with USB Apollos. Check out my other video on live streaming with a DAW! that method should work for you. There are PC equivalents to Soundflower.
You absolute legend! This has been bugging me for ages! 🙏🙌
How do you live stream through apollo solo in windows? My homies can hear my mic and my guitar, but cant hear any effects. Also i don't see an IO matrix on my console settings like you have! Most grateful if anyone can help!
Hello, I have a request if you can help me, I don't know how to make the evenings in AUD apollo for streaming.
I'm waiting for an answer please!
How are we able to still hear your voice even tho you were muted in Console
The software I use to record the screen can record multiple audio channels simultaneously, so I’m recording my vocal input, and the MON out in console. My voice is muted in the MON of console, but is being recorded direct in the screen recording software.
Dear Tano, I’m almost illiterate with how apollo solo work. I have an m1 macbook pro and I wan to record audio clips in voice memos app built into my MacBook. When I do that, recorded clip can only be heard through one side of my headphones. I’m using sm7b.
Please help.
Can you hook up the Apollo to an iPad
man, this is helpful thank you!
Solved my problem of last 6 months.
yay! so glad to hear. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already :)
I’m not hearing the sound from logic or I can’t record either
How to enable 7.1 surround sound monitoring on uad8p
LIVE SAVER!! Thank you! I've been trying to figure this out for so long!
Awesome so glad to help! Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already :)
Thank you brother! You saved me so much time and many headaches with this. All I needed it
awesome! glad to hear it :)
i dont have a io matrix tab + my mic is already on channel 1 but it still wont get recognized in obs. no signal...
What interface do you have?
Tano Brock Apollo twin usb
Yeah...I guess the older Apollo’s don’t have the IO matrix. Check out my other video on streaming with a DAW! That method will work with any interface.
Does this only work on Macs? I have follow this video at least 10 times now and can't get obs to play anything from my Apollo but desktop audio works fine (but also won't play anything from the Apollo inputs).
So lost... only way I eventually got something to work was I had to add an OBS plugin for ASIO inputs.
one question: if i have to Mic ? how i can sen to OBS ?
I'm having issues with my audio skipping when I test the loopback. Any help appreciated.
to add to this you can also route your computer audio via the Audio and Midi Setup App for Mac OS (search with Spotlight its already on your computer). open the app and then choose your Apollo, then scroll down to the virtual 1 and virtual 2 channels. click configure speakers and in the drop down for the left and right channels choose virtual 1 and virtual 2. this will enable you to mute the computer audio (now virtual 1 and 2) if you want to record thru channels 1 and 2 into a DAW. Note: whatever you have on INPUT 1 and 2, will play through as well as the computer's audio if virtual 1 and 2 are not muted. :) ALSO you wont be able to monitor inputs 1 and 2 trough the DAW...
