I expected to see unsafe racing, inadequate safeguards etc. I was amazed to see TWO ambulances following the horses and riders, a stewards vehicle, and a very soft padded starting gate that looks more comfortable and safer than many in North America. I am impressed. The track's limited circumference places the finish line too close to a turn. Other than this, bravo on a job well done!
And the maximum distance for a race is 2400m only which in here,is called the maiden, the biggest race of the season,it's a safe distance so horses won't get too tired
@@vamanlobine9160 My God, I was certainly off the beaten path. Went to Wikipedia and was astounded. Never ever heard of this amazing island off the coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Wonderful horses, wonderful racing!
These horses have been bred to run. The quality of care and expense to get them to this point is huge. Racehorses from a quality track like this one in France are usually tried at jumping or dressage or another equine pursuit if they fail at the track. To say they are killed for meat is ludicrous. Not these horses from this track.........
There is no other animal on earth that is qwite like a horse that sutes a rider so much I just don't know where I'd be if I did not have horse raceing to wotch
Pippa Heath fuck you i used to train horses but the way we did, we pushed them little. not what it seems like. carrots, apples, treats after they fot done training, or if they raced, won or not. still rewardrd the horses
Pippa Heath, do you even know how they are treated? Yes some are treated badly but not all. Many racehorses are treated like family! Look at how other people treat their horses and they don't race, SOME of them (NOT all) treat their horse poorly even just because they didn't win a $50,000 jump off or other shows. I go see horse racing every year, and even though they don't win, their jockey loves them and are happy with the place they are in.
Pippa Heath could you possibly try another line? This one is getting old. France has considered horse-meat a delicacy for centuries. They tend to prefer larger and more sedentary draft horses. Less muscle development means more tender meat. The US has a far less defensible record of how OTTB horses are treated. Stop.
You go ahead and control 3/4 of a ton of highly excited animal that has no other urge than to RUN with just a touch on the reins. I'll watch. Hell, I'll sell tickets!!

they have to treat them very well or they won't perform well. common sense.

the riders are pulling way to much on the bits
But, i mean... show jumpers, dressage, barrel racers, and others always pull to much on the bit, at least most of them are using snaffles

love it!!!!!
I don't like how they don't keep their hands high while running because they are pulling on the bit and reins are too short
Optimistic Pessimist idiot idiot idiot
mauritian race
those animals are killed for not deing good enough and if they are not useful
the world is going crazy.... horses are no sportmashines... Buy you a car instead -.- but dont treat your horse like this...
Pippa Heath not all horses are killed they only do that for dogs 🐶
No in many countries horse meat is fed to humans also
greyhound rescue organizations find homes for many dogs.
only those that want it. It is a very lean meat, little fat.
nice
Nothing I see interesting in this video....
