    Chief did a great job with his explanations and descriptions - by talking in "plain language" and not a lot of "industry jargon", everyone can understand and appreciate what you guys do! Love how organized and labeled everything on that truck is. Super helpful when you have a lot of people using things - they know where to get it from and where to put it back.

    Fire departments, both volunteer and paid, can take lessons from this department on how to take care, and have, apparatus last and look exceptionally great. The color looks awesome, and I am a purist to red. And the steps are great, the newer Pierce apparatus steps basically are straight down. Milwaukee is a great brand to go with. We use various tools, including the light towers, in our FMO; they have definitely proven their worth.

    Well, I don't think the color is bad at all. We have something similar here in Germany for the fire department, it's called RAL 3024 Leuchtrot(glowing red). This is to achieve a higher warning effect, which ultimately serves the safety of firefighters. The advantage comes particularly well in the twilight to the effect.

      Same here in czech republic, right now all new engines come in the glowing red or orange and alot of departments are going for similiar colors.

    I hate to break it to everyone but the story behind the Orange paint that the chief explained...isnt the actual story. The '49 Chevy was built by High Steel, the same people who made the engine bay. When they were building the truck, High Steel didnt have red paint, they only had orange. So they painted the truck orange and the rest is history.

      Not to be confrontational, but is that not what the Chief said? Just in slightly more detail?

    • @Dolphins_arent_Real
      @Dolphins_arent_Real Год назад

      @@Ameri-Texan It didn't go the way that current chief says it did. Like I said the original truck was built by High Steel there in Lancaster and they didn't have red paint, so they did the next closest color and rolled with it up to modern day.

      The Arrow XT is also, they won’t comply with new EPA requirements. The way they are designed will not allow for enough air flow for cooling the compliant engines. At least that’s what our rep told us.

      @@benwatters9255 as I understood it, Quantum and Arrow XT will be available until the new EPA diesel requirements take effect. My department is in process of spec’ing a tower ladder and the EPA regulations were a topic of conversation- the discontinuation of those product lines was mentioned. Probably one of the reasons the Enforcer chassis got some of the recent improvements.

    When asked about a cdl to drive the apparatus . In pennsylvania when responding to an emergency with all emergency warning lights activated and sirens being utilized while responding . The driver operator does not need a cdl . But since the vehicle is over 26,500 pounds by rights the driver operator should have call class B license w/ air brake and tank if needed . Though most law enforcement turn a blind eye to that rule . The insurance company for the apparatus actually will love that if the driver operators are in possession of a cdl and it does drop the $$$ per month paying the bill .

    • @davidzook8569
      @davidzook8569 6 месяцев назад

      In volunteer organizations the additional cost of maintaining a CDL for an individual who needs it for nothing else would eliminate even more volunteers. It should also be noted under the new rules instituted a few years ago increases the inconvenience even more as they would literally have attend a truck driving school.

  • @bobbymoody7
    @bobbymoody7 Год назад

    It's awful that they don't need cdl for fire rigs! Anything over 26k needs a cdl. No wonder why half of them can't drive!

    • @FirebrewTV
      @FirebrewTV Год назад +2

      The NFPA has standards for fire apparatus operators that are incorporated into most states firefighter certification curriculums. Not only do you have to be able to drive the truck, you have to be competent operating the pumps aerials etc. The CDL exemption for fire trucks was allowed given that most fire departments are volunteer. I don’t know of too many fire departments that are going to let just anyone behind the wheel of their apparatus.
