Got back into bass fishing a couple years ago, the first rods I got that I really loved were the Fury 735 and the Colt 703(ended up loving it for lipless cranks, jerkbaits soft and hard, topwater, ANYTHING moving really lol). After those 2 and an 806SB I ventured off to other brands just to try stuff and I just always end up missing the castability of Dobyns softer tip(well, softer rod overall really). So I just recently got a Kaden 735CB, love it. And now I also got a 735(broke 1 guide on my Fury and wanted to upgrade anyways after holding a 735 champ in a store) and 734 XP. They may not be the lightest, most sensitive, most beautiful or whatever but damn they just feel good in my hands...especially the champs. Starting to sell off almost all of my other rods.
I need a jig rod. Is the 734 good for that? I use straight braid. I heard the 735 is super fast and stout. I want the rod to load up and keep them pinned.
Probably be decent choice, I have definitely flipped half oz beavers with 734 on fluoro before. I like the XP744 and 735 for jigs but I am a 20lb fluoro guy
I was in the market for a replacment rod to throw small swimbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits (multipurpose)...... and just ordered a DC 734C FH based on your reviews and vids........ Its replacing an old 7'3" Duckett micro-magic........Probably time ...Right...??? so Im pretty excited about the upgrade....
@@HellaBass I'd get an 806 (stiffer rods are better with swimbaits), but the 795 is great too. The only issue is that you will soon want to throw bigger and bigger baits because swimbaits are addicting.
@@HellaBass maybe, I tend to lean towards longer rods for some reason, and I like stiffer rods because I like to set the hook super hard (even on 10 lb). I'm thinking a 743 or 763.
Sorry to hear that Greg, that doesn't seem normal to my experience or most others. They do have a great warranty and customer service program as well. Did you buy them separately or all together?
@@HellaBass I had made two separate bulk orders. In total, have 16 Dobyns rods. Minus the 4 the snapped. I've been swapping over to Duckett. Haven't had one snap yet and I've got 6 months on the 3 I have of those
Have several Dobyns 734c’s and they are my most versatile rods. Looking at adding a 734 Fury or Sierra for buzzbaits. Any suggestions on a Dobyns buzzbait rod? Great info! Thanks
Because it's a visual bite probably lean Fury and save the $$$, but the Sierra will have a slightly softer tip that you may like for casting and letting fish get the bait better
@@dong8307 I'd be guessing, I am guessing XP and Sierra would be close with the Sierra being a touch lighter and the Fury being the stoutest of the 3 based o what I have heard, have not held all 3

Sell me that CW734 🤣 great video as always! Fellow Dobyns fanatic
Sure. I can sell you that rod

LOVING the Dobyn's rods, only rods I plan on using for tournaments from now on.
I slowly transitioned to them many years ago, have not looked back since!
Good stuff
Any other info you would want in a rod breakdown?
Great show l don’t have none. I always been a high end Fenwick guy l put that new Zillion on a Fenwick World Class rod great rig use it this morning

That's a great rod, I think you'll love it, can't wait to hear your thoughts once you fish it 🤘
What rod do you use for 1-4 oz swimbaits? Thx!

I now have 3 champ XPs and a fury. Thinking about getting an extreme.
They are nice for bottom contact rods, what you thinking about?
@@HellaBass probably a 7’4” or 7’6” for finesse. I throw a lot of weightless stuff and shakes heads.
Sounds like a DX743 would be your jam or a 742

@@HellaBass Heck, I might even get an Xtasy if I can find one used. I feel like burning some cash from my summer job.
Snapped 4 Dobyns rods. Phasing them out. Won't buy dobyns anymore

Very weird, wonder if some kind of trauma happened on one of those shipments. Did you order direct from Dobyns or through a retailer?
@@HellaBass I would order direct. Get a better VA discount that way.

Anytime bud
I've made the decision!!! I'm going to get an Xtasy 753 sf, screw my wallet.
Oh boy, can't here what you think when you fish it 🤤
@@HellaBass very very excited, glad I could get a summer job because this joker is expensive.
You aren't kidding
