    My 2000 Honda Goldwing 1500SE was the last of the 1500cc models. The GL1800 started in 2001.

    It's definitely not a light bike at 844 lbs. I think the secret is the horizontal 6 which keep the center of gravity low down and makes the weight seem less. I've riden a couple 2001 Goldwing's this summer. Loved them. The basic design is pretty much the same. I love the looks of the F6b but you give up reverse, trunk, and wind protection vs the normal Goldwing.

      Don't forget the $$$ in price for those things. Remember it is Bagger That is what the "B" stands for. Yes ,it is a stripped down Goldwing with a lower seat.

    It is low geared, only does 70km in first. 2nd,3rd,4th a d 5th pull well. It doesn't like to go above 190km/h and would probably max a little above 200 as it has a rev limiter at 6500rpm.
    Ride the clutch for lightning fast take off from the lights, first gear will finish fast and soft, 2nd comes on strong as do the rest.
    It is not fast for a 1300, but it is comfy and it has a really nice feel about it, ya can tell it was made from the ground up as a commuter not some evolution of a track bike and I like this about it.

    I've owned 2 F6B's and after getting a full Goldwing, I prefer it over the B's. I think it actually handles better, especially with my wife onboard. The engine does nothing for me after coming from literbikes. I have a feeling I would like the CTX better just because of the engine and lower weight.

    Been there & got Golf Ball size welts and bruises that lasted nearly a month!
    Day was suppose to be 98' & sunny. But when I saw the clouds roll in during my stop at Wildhorse Monument, SD. I road like a bat out of hell down the moutain back to Sturgis! I had the severe Tank Top & Daisy Dukes Blues, purple, red!🥶🌨😂

    Next time I do a review, second cam Will show entire dash.
    And the over drive feature not tried, I don't get it, so we don't get to see RPM drop when engaged.
    Alrighty then, guess seventy year old drag bike guys doing it for fifty years is what it takes punching it hard on open freeways out of town.
    Passing fleet of semis like one comes across endlessly all day, and they're cruising 90.
    But the mic action works well as easily heard with turbulent shorty windshield.
    Cheers

    I have one. I got it 6 weeks ago, it had 874km on the odometer, first regoed in 2016, so it is new. I did its first service at 1100km an old change.
    I love the bike, it has a freaky throttle as if it is running a loose chain. Once you get used to this your fine.
    After 4000km I refuse to say anything bad about it, excepting that it hates dirt roads. If you go over 40km/h on dirt your tempting fate, it cannot handle it.
    The freaky throttle exaggerates its suspension and geometry issues.
    It is a road bike.

    I looked at the F6b really hard when I was buying ... but it just didn't meet my needs .. The goldwing full model would be The way I would go if I were to buy a goldwing. They just cut to much stuff out of the bike for the money they are asking ... no self canceling turn signals ... cmon. ... it's strong point is the motor .. for me no upper rear storage and no rear backrest for passenger is killer .. especially when the original wing has it. These bikes are great for the long haul but the f6 won't cut it for me.

    • @mrRhwalden
      @mrRhwalden 9 лет назад

      +dbest1a Vlogs The FB6 has the self canceling signals and cruise control. The cruise control is the killer for me for the standard, that and the windshield. I currently ride a 1500cc GL and the FB6 and 1800 GL's feel much lighter then my old 1500.

    DubbsRider,
    Good looking bike, but the spongy brakes has been referred by others and the rear of bike hangs too low.
    Thank You for the ride around as it gives me thoughts of modifying to suite my needs or I could do the same with a older Honda Goldwing.
    That CTX1300 is a great looking bike, but ?

    The 1800 came out in 2001. the 1500 last model with chrome valve covers, only year they did that was 2000.

    • @ababbit7461
      @ababbit7461 7 лет назад

      Scott, I bought a 1500 SE model recently. I did not know the chrome valve cover only came out in 2000. I am now looking to "upgrade" to a used 1800, but there seems to be 50/50 mixed feelings about "upgrade." Some say "no better", some say, "1500 is better", some say "1800 is worlds better." My 1500 SE has upgraded progressive suspension and I find it hard to grind parts in the twisties so handling is real good on my Gl1500. I also own a 2007 BMW K1200R Sport so I have a good "twisty bike" to compare my 1500 to... What is your opinion about 1500 vs 1800?

    I just bought a '13 F6B and love it. I did look at the CTX but it is a little too quirky for my taste. It is a nice looking bike and I've always loved the V4 engine, just not the styling of this bike. Yes Honda cut WAY too much off of the F6B compared to the Goldwing to justify the price so thats why I bought used.

      DubbsRider I got to sit on the CTX 1300 Deluxe and the F6B at a dealership in Fort Worth. The CTX had a great fit and feel, I found the seat to be a little wide when trying to keep my feet down on the F6B which I found to be the only potential annoyance based on just sitting on the bikes. Will have to find me a place to test drive the two soon! I was on vacation with the wife and inlaws and couldn't do a test ride. :(

    Here in the north east Honda is still asking top dollar because they think where all rich here. As far as the F6B I almost bought one but the weight and backing down into my driveway would be an issue.. The CTX is alot lighter and maneuverable and a lot more fun to ride..

  • @matthewkabbash
    @matthewkabbash 9 лет назад

    have you done the Crud Run yet. a 20+ year sconie gathering. So, rode the CTX today. Little wider in the saddle than I expected. certainly not as wide as the Fb or Wing. I did enjoy the roll on power and the ease with which it turned in. the mirrors are not as big an issue as I thought. the edges have more than enough usable view Angle besides you should look over your shoulder when changing lanes. I was expecting more heat while at idle but that wasn't the case. I rode a base model and found the dash to be handsome and easy to read.. comparing a flat six with the v4 isn't apples to apples. I have to say the CTX has a solid grin factor. Fb and wing are tuned to be hushed. I was offered a tremendous steal for the CTX $9500. two things keep me from considering that deal. no radio (speaker grills and buttons no traction control). no traction control isnt a deal breaker on the CTX but those speaker grills and button s not functioning will bother me.. Do the crud run...

    • @Dubbsrider
      @Dubbsrider  9 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I will have to look into the crud run...I have never heard of it myself. I believe that if you do some search there are still some deluxe models out there with a steal of a price on them!! Good luck with your next purchase and ride safe!!!

    • @340rps
      @340rps 7 лет назад

      Suspension on the CTX leaves much to be desired. You want the Deluxe model to get the radio, audio system (no radio) cheapo Honda for that. The detuned V4 just don't cut it. power is ok for what the bike is( tourer) Drive it for an hour,and butt burn. The hideous sound of the V4 can drive on nuts

    I'm currently riding a CTX1300. Great daily driver and for long day rides on good roads. As a tourer I find it lacking. If your focus was on touring would you then consider the move to an f6b a worthy one?

    • @Dubbsrider
      @Dubbsrider  9 лет назад

      If your focus was mainly for touring the f6b would be a great option. The only hold back for me would be the cruise and no heated grips standard. They may have updated this on the newer models but the one i tested didnt have them...and for touring that would be a big deal for me. Thanks for watching and commenting!!! Ride safe!!

    • @340rps

    Hii just to mention, I've followed your channel for a few years, mainly covering the CTX.
    I think your videos have been excellent throughout, very informative. I bought my CTX in 2014, sold for a Goldwing in 2017 only to buy another CTX in 2023.
    Boy I missed the CTX so I wondered if you've wondered from time to time if you'd wished you hadn't parted with yours?
    I'm in the UK and it's not a mile munching country, in my opinion, so the Goldwing is a little overkill.
    It's nice to have a choice when contemplating a ride out but, both bikes have their place in motorcycling.
    I'd be interested in your thoughts.
    Good channel very honest and informative.

    FB wind buffeting would get annoying fast.Thr whole reason to get a 800lb bike is to be comfortable otherwise lighter naked bike would be better if wind is no issue.To me I rather get old BMW airhead with nice windshield and have seriously lighter machine and capable.I known not fair comparison but don't get the point of 800lb touring bike with tiny non functional screen

I'm currently considering an FB6 .. also like the CTX1300 since I used to own a Honda ST1300, but have to have cruise control, so I had to cross the CTX off the list.
