In my experience, it wasn’t the resonant gems that went dormant, but the main gem. 1) I used the “loaned” gem power from resonance gems to do a partial upgrade on my echoing shade for pve necro builds. 2) Then I switched to a PvP loadout where I had shade swapped for spiteful blood with higher partial rank (ie more gem power invested in it). 3) The spiteful blood was now dormant. However, I didn’t have *any* of the gem power invested in it available. 4) to fix this, I had to switch back to my pve loadout and manually make my echoing shade dormant before switching to my PvP loadout. It took me a while to figure out, and freaked me out. So you can temporarily lose access to lots of gem power with this new feature, but you can fortunately regain access to it. However, I think they should fix this by automatically giving you the gem power back when you switch loadouts and a gem becomes dormant.
Ok so I understand everything as you explained it. But if you use those socketed gems as gem power, and of coarse leave them in. Can you still upgrade them to get the extra bonuses without having to put all the gem power back into them? As long as I never remove them? Thank you for this video, I look forward to your answer, this will help me alot.
I asked someone who used this new feature to upgrade their main gem, using the power of the gems socketed within it. They told me that they can still upgrade the gems inside the main gem further. So as long as you don’t remove your main gem or the gems within it, all upgrades will work as before. I just hope they will add a lock system to the main gem in the future, so people don’t accidentally remove the main gem or the gems inside.
If I don’t see the two options ‘standard upgrade’ and ‘progressive upgrade’ what should I do? I have a berserker’s eye at rank 5 and inserted an everlasting torment rank 2

Fuck, I just upgraded gear and now my star fire shared is dormant. All my load outs are showing this gem dormant. Any clue how to get it back?
Yeah was wondering about this. Thanks for covering the topic!
For those who already have a r10, they should allow us to socket dormant gems.
Thanks!

Yeah. It really can mess you up. The math doesn’t math.
Any idea why cant i sell my pets in the market after latest update?
It was in patch notes, only abberants can be sold in the market now
This is one of few sources of plat for me right now so definitely not happy about this thanks for the info :(
They should completely remove the pet as no one buys them anymore.
Upgrading aberrant eill cost you more than you can sell your aberrant pet.
Take off aweken gems and make progress upgrades and after put back gems on aweken. Easy :p
haha, that is one way to do it xD
Totally confused….
